Since it comes up in this post, a quick note about Saila's "tattoos":

The more contact Saila has with a person (unless there's anti-magic properties involved to prevent it), the likelier it is that their energy will transfer a new mark onto her skin. This is one of the fundamental interactive components of this character -- if your character is the one that creates the mark, then you get to decide what the mark is and what it does. We'll work out the implications of it together, but one of the things I like best about playing her is the unpredictability.

The wild card factor.

For example, Quinn's player chose the symbol that binds her to Quinn. Cane's player and I together decided that one of them spells her name. Hex's player got to decide what showed up on her butt. :D

That's the fun part of Sai - she's a choose your own adventure crossed with a magic eye drawing. XD I want your input. I want you to be involved. If Saila ever asks your character whether they recognize any of the symbols on her body? You officially have my permission to say yes. You get to help shape her story, too. :)

Huge shout out to Saila-player for not only doing what I absolutely suck at doing (editing logs and creating the thread), she's a friggin' miracle for doing so. But giving Hex so much more depth and intricate story than I was anticipating.

Her writing is a phenomenon and has helped me grow as a writer myself.

Sooooo, yeah. It's been a week.

First up. Thank you so, so, *so* much to everyone who has participated in the Birthday Party event! I am still so blown away that Hex and crew put all that together for her, and reading every single one of your responses has brought *such* a smile to my face.

To that end... it's for real been a week, y'all.

Partner laid off somewhat unexpectedly. Father had surgery (he's fine, but it took way longer than it should have). Funerals (yeah. More funerals). A member of my social circle murdered in a robbery gone wrong.

On August 15, my big brother was critically injured in a serious motorcycle accident. After nine long and agonizing days in the ICU, he succumbed to those injuries and passed away.
