The island was wonderful. Aret could wander and for the most part she was not afraid of things here. She'd heard that Mihaela had set things up so they would be safe. She saw the others on occasion but overall they didn't seem intent on keeping her in her room or making her do things. She'd kept away from Damon most of all but even he wasn't nearly so scary here.
Perched in a tree high in the upper branches, Aret looked to the horizon in the direction that Rhy'Din would be. Her lips were pressed together and her brows were knitted in a faint frown as she watched the clouds dance through the sky. She missed being in the city even if it was scary sometimes. She missed seeing her own red-headed Daemon as often as she had before. He was most likely busy with his studies. She didn't begrudge him that. He had to study and hone his skills. It was the way of things. But still a part of her longed to have him there too all the time. Her fingers tightened on the small branch she held onto for support, the bark of the tree rough under her skin.
Maybe she would take a walk herself and see what, or who, she could see. Surely it would be okay just this once.
