Aret

The island was wonderful. Aret could wander and for the most part she was not afraid of things here. She'd heard that Mihaela had set things up so they would be safe. She saw the others on occasion but overall they didn't seem intent on keeping her in her room or making her do things. She'd kept away from Damon most of all but even he wasn't nearly so scary here.

Perched in a tree high in the upper branches, Aret looked to the horizon in the direction that Rhy'Din would be. Her lips were pressed together and her brows were knitted in a faint frown as she watched the clouds dance through the sky. She missed being in the city even if it was scary sometimes. She missed seeing her own red-headed Daemon as often as she had before. He was most likely busy with his studies. She didn't begrudge him that. He had to study and hone his skills. It was the way of things. But still a part of her longed to have him there too all the time. Her fingers tightened on the small branch she held onto for support, the bark of the tree rough under her skin.

Maybe she would take a walk herself and see what, or who, she could see. Surely it would be okay just this once.

He had taken to the skies this day. Cerise had released him from his lessonns knowing he was restless and lonely. She must've felt the same way. They both cared about people and they both missed them.

He hadn't seen his kitten in so long it hurt. He had to train and there was much to do with the House. Today was his day however, and Cerise had given him the location of the Pard. He could see her again.

The thought made him take wing and to the skies in the hopes of spending some time alone with his girl, his kitten.

Far too easy was the thought from the shadowed figure watching the skies. The young lovesick fool would never know what hit him.

The figure trained the crossbow on the young demon in the skies. It was sheer genius to have blessed quarrels on hand. Were pretty handy in taking out Rakasha and Demons.

Just a little closer... There!

There was a soft twang as the blessed bolt was launched at the target.

He did not see the bolt until the searing pain ripped into his shoulder. The force of the hit and the blessed object knocked him from the skies above the Isle.

Tree branches slowed his fall but he still hit the ground with a sicken thud and a groan of pain.

The figure stepped from the shadows and made his way over to his prey. If the target managed to survive the fall, he would make sure that he did not survive the next bolt.

The hunter stepped cautiously into sight with the loaded crossbow trained on the young man. He breathed still but not for much longer.

In shifting her position so she could climb out of the tree, her attention diverted to the skies in a different direction. She frowned as her eyes narrowed then a smile broke across her features. It was HIM! She stretched, her hand still holding to the smaller branch. Her other hand waved back and forth in order to catch his attention and let him know she was there.

Her eyes widened in horror when she saw him jerk in the skies. Her heart leapt to her throat as her gaze followed him falling from his flight. Fly, Damien. Fly .. you ... you can .. Inside her mind she willed him to fly. The silent kitten screeched a horrified howl when she witnessed his falling into trees and out of sight. Nooo! She slid from the tree, jumping from perhaps higher than she should have. Aret landed hard but she shook her head to clear it of the jarring effects then shot off like a dart toward the location where he'd fallen. Her heart pounded in her chest. No no no no ...

She was able to zero in on him without too much trouble. Aret knew his scent and although the wind toyed with her that day, she was still able to find him. She came to a skittering halt when she saw the man with the bolts. Her eyes narrowed and the hair on the back of her neck rose. She didn't think. She howled an infuriated shriek and launched herself at the man without thought to her own safety.

He struggled to get up, not seeing the assassin. His world was alive with the pain, pain that was communicated along links he shared with his mother and twin. Through the pain all he could think of was drawing the assassin away from Aret.

Then he heard the shriek and turned painfully in time to see his girl tackling the hunter. Dread ripped at him knowing he was too hurt to help her. Rage ripped through him at the thought of Aret getting hurt.

He didn't notice the area darkening and the weather changing for the worse.

The hunter did not expect interference in his plans. Nor did he expect to be tackled by the little bundle of fury that the boy cherished. The situation started to spiral out of his control faster than he could plan another course of action.

Were the shadows gathering and taking form in one spot?

Aret

She had always been the quiet one, the meek one. She would withdraw if anyone even rose their voice or made a sudden move. But this was different. She didn't have time to think about what she was doing. She only felt rage and this translated into her throwing herself into the hunter, fingers clawing, hissing and biting. When she wasn't clawing, she was pounding her fists into whatever she could find. She refused to let him hurt her Damien!

She was not a fighter but she was propelled by rage and the protective reflexes that few probably knew she possessed. She didn't know the finer arts of brawling. Her actions were done blindly and without finesse.

She did not see Damien trying to get up. She did not notice the weather. Her senses were full of the scent of the man trying to do Damien harm. Her drive was to see the man stopped.

All he could do was grab her by the scruff of her neck and toss her into the boy. It would give him enough time to regroup and end them both.

He was not pleased by the turn of events though he started noticing the changes in the environment. This was taking too long and if he didn't finish this fast, he would be facing worse.

He sighted on the two.

Aret

She yelped when she felt herself caught and thrown. Her body wasn't huge and she didn't weigh that much but her arms flailed as she flew through the air. She felt herself connect with something that wasn't a tree although it wasn't too soft either. She twisted, recognizing his scent. Damien! She tossed her head and glared at the man with the bow. She would not have it! She put herself between the man and her Damien, hissing as her eyes almost flickered between human and feline - her rage unabated.

He had twisted just enough to take the brunt of the impact. As hurt as he was, he instinctively moved to protect Aret. The demon in him was infuriated. The hunter had tried to hurt his mate.

His eyes were glowing read, though the growl that had been rumbling though him was cut off by the building power... He whispered only one word as his eyes widened to the shape forming behind the assassin.

"(vqw) Mother."

Aret

Aret was young and ill-experienced with fighting. But she did know that the man posed a threat and she refused to allow the threat to hurt her Damien. She gathered herself and launched herself again at the man, uncaring that he was aiming his weapon at her and Damien. She would protect what was hers and that was that!

He was getting tired of the girl interfering. Once again she managed to tackle him.

Only this time the tackle was met with a searing pain through his back into his heart. He looked down at the sword protruding from his chest.

"Frak..." Was the last word he uttered as his soul was claimed from his body.

Natolii

The shadows writhed and took form behind the assassin. There were very few things that could drive her into a rage and this was one of them.

The hunter would not have time to react before as sword was driven through his chest and stealing his soul. Momma demoness had comes and would not stop until her child was safe.

Through red tinged eyes she saw the girl tackle the assassin right into her blade. She felt a swell of approval at her actions, even as dangerous as they had been.

"Frak..."

She murmured softly as she claimed the assassin's soul, "(vq) You will learn not to harm my family."

Aret

Aret felt herself connect with her target, her teeth jarred and her breath left her but she didn't care. She didn't hear anything that was said, her head overwhelmed with the moment. As she struggled to regain herself, she felt the man's body change. She also got a new scent that filled her senses together with the blood and hunter. She blinked, eyes looking beyond the man to the woman behind him. Aret swallowed, realizing the man was dead from the sword held by the woman. Instincts and nerves still on edge, she didn't think again .. Aret just reacted with a hiss as she pushed herself away from the now dead threat. She kept herself between Damien and the unknown woman, her arms spread to shield him the best she could.

She dropped the now lifeless husk from her sword and wiped the blade on his tunic before moving over to the girl shielding Damien. The sword was returned to the sheath at her waist.

"(vqw) Child, will you let me tend to my son?" She murmured softly, letting the girl see the whole of her. Her weapons had been put away to show her the threat was gone.

The area started to return to normal.

Aret

Different things started clicking into place, different things she heard but hadn't realized she'd heard .. scents that mingled and seemed to fit. With the sword put away, she was starting to relax a bit. She kept backing up until she bumped into Damien. That was about the moment when the red-haired woman asked "Child, will you let me tend to my son?"

Son? Aret sucked in a breath and looked over her shoulder at Damien. He was hurt! She scurried around behind him and put her arms around him, nuzzling her face into his neck from behind. Her rage left her leaving her drained and worried and whimpering. She couldn't lose him!

Natolii

She watched the young girl scurry to Damien's side and hold him. She was indeed worried about him. Damien reached up slowly to place his hand on her arm.

No, she would see her son healed. She knelt by the both of them and drew out a couple of stone from her pouch. Ancient eyes looked worried as she crushed the two soul stones over Damien and waited for the magics to take effect, speeding up the healing process within him.

He shuddered and groaned in discomfort as the magics took hold of him, knitting the broken bones and wounds from his fall. As the magics faded away, he was whole, if a bit weakened. He rested against Aret, glad she was unharmed.

Natolii watched the younger woman holding her son. While she knew the twins were adults now, seeing the care by which this girl gave to Damien brought a pang to her heart. She was proud of the way she would protect him.

"(vqw) Damien, are you going to introduce your lady to me?" The voice was soft and amused.

He really hated feeling weak after being healed with the soulstones. He closed his eyes resting against Aret. His hand lightly stroked along her arm.

"(vqw) Damien, are you going to introduce your lady to me?"

He opened his eyes and looked at his mother in all seriousness. Would she accept Aret?

"(vq) Mother... This is my love, Aret. Aret, this is my mother, Natolii."

Aret

She watched in interest as the woman did her ministrations to her Damien. After things happened that seemed to help him, Aret held him and nuzzled against him, murmuring soft little sounds in his ear to encourage him. She wouldn't let him go. She was there and loved him. He would be all right. She would comfort him the best she could. Her lips curled into a faint smile when he stroked her arm. He would be all right. That meant everything to her.

"Damien, are you going to introduce your lady to me?"

Aret's attention moved briefly from Damien to the woman again, her head tipping to the side slightly with a little sound of curiosity.

"Mother... This is my love, Aret. Aret, this is my mother, Natolii."

Mother. Eep! Her eyes grew wider and she felt a wash of embarrassment that she'd hissed at the woman! She snuggled behind Damien a little more, peeking out at the woman tentatively, her hand moving only enough to do a little finger wave at Natolii.

Natolii

She watched the girl with interest taking note that she did not speak. She seemed intent on comforting Damien though.

"Mother... This is my love, Aret. Aret, this is my mother, Natolii."

She watched as the girl seemed to want to hide and gave a little finger wave. There was a smile on her lips that was warm and amused.

"Well, Aret. It seems Damien has found someone that is fierce in his protection. I am very pleased to meet you at last."

"Well, Aret. It seems Damien has found someone that is fierce in his protection. I am very pleased to meet you at last."

Aret blushed at Natolii's words. To hide this, she nuzzled into Damien's cheek. She smiled at Natolii though, her eyes sneaking to the woman briefly before she wrapped her arms tighter around Damien. She didn't think of herself as fierce and in the aftermath, she was starting to shake. Aret tried not to think about what happened or what she'd done. It was easier that way.

He could feel the shakes settling in his kitten. As weak as he was, he managed to sit himself up so he could wrap his arms around her.

He then looked over at Natolii, "Maybe we should get out of the open?" He wanted to take Aret away from this place, if only for a little bit until she was calm.

The older woman nodded and opened a gate to their home. "You are welcome to come, Aret." She had said in that soft voice of hers.

She shrank into his embrace, burying her face into his chest. It was good that he was all right and she was relieved more than she cared to analyze. "Maybe we should get out of the open?" Her fingers twined into the fabric of his shirt, unwilling to move far at all in this moment.

She heard and felt the gate opening, her skin shivering from the effects of the magic that created it. Aret's eyes snuck a peek at Natolii as the other woman said, "You are welcome to come, Aret."

It didn't occur to her that anyone here would miss her. She just nodded that she would like to come since she wasn't about to let Damien out of her sight.

He held Aret close to him and murmured softly, "(vq) We're safe now, Aret."

He knew his kitten was scared and he wanted to shield her. He leaned a bit on her, still trying to regain his strength. He really hated the soulstones.

Aret was so tiny when compared to him. Nat regarded his girlfriend as he comforted her. She would talk to him later about a few things. Some talkes were long overdue.

Aret

She tucked herself under his arm so she could support him and yet still keep in close contact with Damien. Aret was not of a mind to move too far away from him but she could scent his fatigue. She would give him any support he needed.

Aret glanced around only a little, her focus remained on Damien. It was easier to focus when she was centered on him. She smiled up to him and gave a little sound of encouragement. In spite of her shaking, she was going to continue to comfort him because he was the one who had been hurt.

They moved through the portal to his mother's house in Rhydin City. He kept an arm wrapped about her as they moved, wanting to keep her close to him. He may have been injured, but he knew how fragile she could be. He would not remind of the fight, instead enjoying the closeness after so many days away.

As they walked he spoke softly, "(vq) I've missed you so much, kitten."

Once they were home, he guided her to his room. He was in a mood to lay down and cuddle with her. Been so long since he was able to hold her close.

The moment of passing from the isle through the gate was the only moment she closed her eyes and once on the other side, she opened them as the new scents and sounds invaded her senses. She let him guide her since she had no idea where they really were or what was where. When she realized they were in his private rooms, she mewed a sound of delight and happily snuggled up with him to fawn attention all over him. She'd missed him terribly and was happy to show him how much she was glad to see him.
