Max had been pleasantly surprised to find he had advanced into the next round. There were many eyes upon him but the only ones he cared for were those closest to him. His looks had found her often enough during those duels that surely Shariane understood that he wasn?t completely concentrating on the ring. It hadn?t become an issue yet; his first match had been shorter than anticipated. Sometimes when you are on nothing can stand against you. He viewed the event as a simple necessity there was nothing

It had taken the better part of a year for him to regain the control he had lost. Those moments when his power became unstable were perhaps the most terrifying of his life. It had been too long since his powers had been in flux. This place called Rhydin, he had come at a call, one very personal to him. Wanda had needed him and he wasn?t there. When he arrived he found two moons in the sky and a nexus that left the magnetic fields twisted in ways he needed to learn to untangle. He very nearly failed and the shuddering earth was a side effect of his loss of that vaunted control. If not for Shar he might have done something he couldn?t make up for.

It still surprised him that the Avengers this side of the wormhole he had travelled hadn?t come to check out what was going on. Wanda hadn?t come either though she had worried over what it meant. She admitted to waiting to see what he had. The fact that nothing had been done was an obvious relief, though Pie hadn?t been seen since then. Max believed he understood the lack of attention. This place has a real surplus of powerful individuals. The even may not have registered as threat based, he probably had the protections of the vale to thank for that.

Regaining control was another matter. That he had only the white haired healer to be thankful to. Her powers had moved with his opening him up to that vast reservoir that existed in the ground beneath the vale. Max allowed her to channel his overflowing energies into that well of power. The night had drawn them closer than either would have expected. In the time since he had been working his senses fine tuning them. It was only recently that this became a reason to draw his ire.

He felt the call in the night three voices crying out for aid. He led the match in the tournament that would give him his shot at another of those Great Men that sought to enslave his betters. ?Stand with me? were the words he gave to Shar. She had been the one to encourage him to take his skills into the arena and fight for the opportunity. Max found himself practicing then, day and night to hone what skills he could before facing those which had vastly greater experience.

Ahead a full point and a half, Max had Lena at a tremendous disadvantage. When the call came he took only a moment to decide what needed to be done. The duel would have been a great way to put the man down but it wouldn?t be the only way. These tortured souls needed him now. He looked at Shar sending a thought her way. Can you hear that too? He turned to Candy Hart the Over lady and calmly and began words he never thought he would hear from his mouth. ?If it pleases, I am afraid I have another commitment..my esteemed oponant can have the victory."

With a final foreboding look in Shar?s direction Max shot skyward that manipulated magnetic field propelling him onwards at speeds that couldn?t be easily measured. ?I?ll see you at home ashke.?

He heard the questions and disbelief that stirred through the arena and the answer that followed all too honest. ??he?s been called to.? Max hated leaving Shar to answer questions clearly meant for him.
