I'm going to finally finish Gloria enim. It's so close to being done. Child's Psalm is the final chapter. I know how it's all going to wrap up. There's absolutely no excuse for putting it off as long as I have. I'm going to try to finish it in the next few days.

Then, when he had spent his borrowed moment, he cracked a grin for one last joke.

I started this story in April of last year and around the first twenty-six pages I really began to have fun and try and make an epic out of it. I concluded this story today, and it's very bittersweet for me, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Here is the end to the Gloria enim story:

http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=185912#185912

Should it have taken so long to finish, I don't know. It felt like it took too long. But it would have likely been a very different story had I rushed it, so I'm kind of glad it took the time that it needed to be what it became. I'm thankful for any readers I may have had, and let's keep on producing, friends. <3

Onto the next thing!

Greetings, Writers and Players!

I hope you're all having a terrific Halloween season so far.

I don't usually plug a prompt, but I'd like to invite you to participate in the latest prompt here in our folder inspired by a letter written in a Mayu Tsuzuki post (see here).

The prompt is to write a letter to someone and it can be posted in our Rhimes thread or your own folders if you like. It can be a letter to one of your characters from one of your characters or it can be something else. This is a fun little challenge for those of you who don't typically write letters for characters. I know I don't, and I've already had a ton of fun with it and it's rejuvenated my interest in some projects and characters!

Letters from characters are usually very deep, easy to read through, and offer a lot of insight into the mind of a character. Maybe write one for a character who wouldn't typically write a letter. Maybe write one to someone who can't receive the letter. It's up to you, and the sky is always the limit.

Keep writing, Friends.

A Gloria enim FAQ, Quick Reference, and Trivia Guide has been posted and stickied here at Ne plus ultra. Hopefully it has some interesting facts and explains and answers a lot of things for you, both about who we are and what we write here.

This marks a very special time for me personally here at Dragon's Mark. I've recently completed a very extensive and special project (by my standards) titled Gloria enim. It's a very emotional time because it was a very emotional story for me, but I did what I set out to do, and that was complete an ambitious project. Now that it's over, there are so many new things to look forward to, and there's never been a more appropriate time to thank the community as we head towards a new year.

I'm not the most social neighbor here, but whenever I have a spare moment at the computer, I am browsing through all the new posts here from our myriad of diverse and talented writers. I don't always feel like writing, even times when I have work I probably should get done. Music doesn't always open the right doors, either. So how do I pick the pen back up, so to speak? I see all of you creating content. Someone always has a story that they're posting up to share. You're always inspired, and that inspires me, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Alfonso and Solucun both have refreshing profile reworks coming, so look for those soon as well as the new Kit Otomo spin-off and Alfonso original story.

Keep warm and creative this winter, Friends.

myspace mood: excited to write something large-scale again!

Alfonso Carlson Avery

Date: 2013-11-26 10:41 EST
The Hardest Thing to Kill was a fun little story I did recently off the basic idea of "what if something unexpectedly serious happened during what was supposed to be one of Alfonso's easy witch hunts." But of course there's a little more to it than that. I think it feels a little rushed, but that can't be helped.

The story itself was inspired from the comic For the Man Who Has Everything, and it fondly dredges up memories of a time when Alain-mun and I were interested in writing short stories of our characters' interactions with our own interpretation of a universe's Batman. It never took off, and maybe that was for the best. I can laugh at it now, and I should point out it was my poorly constructed design at the time. It seemed a little too indulgent, nevermind easy, but it also seemed fun, so I at least knew where my mind was at the time. Regardless, I'm sure we would have both produced fun reads for one another.

I promise this isn't a Batman story or even a Superman story like the one I drew inspiration from. It's just a neat little chapter I felt compelled to write where something difficult happens to Alfonso. It interrupted my work on the beginning of his new story, but I'll hopefully be back at work on that very soon.

Take care, Friends.

Me and my friend like to play correspondence chess a lot. And because correspondence chess games can take a long time (several weeks some have taken), we make it fun by saying certain characters are the pieces and we have fun with a little story with them as the game progresses. Last time we did DC comics characters, and this game it's anime/manga characters!

I haven't written a short story in a while, but I felt like throwing one together this morning as a kind of homage to mobster stories.

http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=192154#192154

Last night I watched The Counselor, and apart from being bad... apart from being bad... I liked it. I thought the automatic garrote/bolito idea was brilliant. You can see it here (with minor spoilers): http://youtu.be/U5J_Uh7rUCQ
But the movie told something, if it told anything at all, that at least seemed real about the world of organized crime. It ran in the same vein to me with say the mobsters in Goodfellas, and the Red Dragon Syndicate in Cowboy Bebop. That is to say, your killers come to you with smiles instead of guns, and there simply is no leaving the syndicate, respectively.

I know I have been romanticized by dramatic exaggerations, but a part of me wants to believe it could all really be so so cruel, ruthless, and effective. http://amrdiab.net/forum/adstyle/images/icons_2/heart-icon.png

Rack up another story, baby!

Greens and Blues

Alfonso spends a brief time with a witch he was supposed to a kill and a dragon he intended to slay, and "feels" happen. It came out nicely, and quite a way's from the writing room floor where it originated in its earliest form as "Alfonso ****s a dragon".

It was a fun little detour. Now onto more things. Always more things.

Keep writing, Everyone.

Still alive and writing here and there! I apologize for the shortage in content recently. Hopefully you'll stay tuned and I'll be able to unbusy myself enough to return to work on the main mythology story and less on the shorts, but I do also plan to incorporate some of the shorts into the main story as I progress, so they're not (all) pointless reads, I promise.

I hope you're all having a wonderful summer and are staying safe this year. Remember to keep your minds exercised and keep that rust off! I amicably suggest writing a short story of your own with any of your characters or even a new character to maintain your anchor with this hobby of yours that we all share and love so much. Actually set some time aside to work on that storyline you keep telling yourself that you'll work on and never do. We're all guilty of this one on multiple occasions, I'm sure. If a short doesn't fit or belong in your folder, you're always welcome to post your short in my flash fiction (paragraph+) sticky if you're feeling up to something quick and fun, but just do remember to write. Writing is such a special interest we've all taken up, and we need to constantly be nurturing it, and you may not always have the time to write, so take advantage now and flesh out your worlds and characters this year. I wish you all luck in doing this, and can't wait to read what you put up on the forums.

Keep at it, Friends.

I Wish to Do Harm has been edited in its entirety. I fixed poor sentences, poor dialogue, and I removed descriptive bits that told the 'Gates of Naedim' or 'Gates of Sand' were already looking over the Battle of Prabiya. This has been retconned to the gates appearing only after the battle has reached its climax (even the chapter has not yet reached this point!).

This is the first chapter in Alfonso's mythology, so I want it to be really good! I'm pulling out all the stops, even if it means going back and redoing something to make it the best it can be. I'll be focusing my attention on completing this chapter as soon as possible and following it into its next provided I'm able and then merging Little Nicole Allen in at some point. So things are finally starting to come together.

Apologies for the lack of content recently!

Happy Holidays, Everyone!

Dubbed "The Alfonso Bible" as a working title in recent days, I have finished my perversion of The Silmarillion which I finished reading perhaps a week or two ago. Spawned from the idea "what would Alfonso do if he were present during the first days of middle earth?" a second Morning After story was born, short and fun and very loyal to Alfonso's character.

I'm sure Christopher Tolkien would adore it.

A farewell of sorts is in order. I've been affected by too many of you to leave without saying anything. The time has come that I depart from this site I've come to love over the many years I've been roleplaying and writing here. It's with a heavy heart that I do this, but necessary if I am to continue writing for the all the characters that I love and stories that I am compelled to tell. This has been an unforgettable experience interacting and collaborating with so many other creative minds that have tested and challenged me to rise up to their level and enhance the overall quality of what I do. I'm forever grateful to those of you, good relation and bad, you've helped contribute in one way or another to get me to where I am now. And that may not be some great height, but I am happy with where I am, and that is enough.

I'll leave with the same message I've always kept in this ooc over the years. Keep writing, keep playing with each other, and keep creating. I've seen great things come out of this community when it comes together, and you need to keep doing it.

Always and forever... keep writing, Friends.
