Just A Day In The Life

Things were going well. In general. Mostly.

The sun rose. The sun set.

Since returning from their short voyage, much talk about the change of the season's had been had. Those with wives and children of course would venture home as soon as the first frost was upon them, leaving the other's to their own devices soon.

That however, didn't change the spirit of the combined crews. There was much to be done and order's handed down by their Captain's were taken in stride...as always.

The year itself filled with the constant influx of chaos, it was that in which they thrived and prospered financially. Even the Paymaster had been impressed, as there was no shortage of coin.

For the most part, Rhydin Harbor had been quieter than usual. Odd in itself, extremely so. It was as if a hush had fallen across inky water's in preparation for....something.

Of course, the typical tavern fights and melee's continued, as they would until the end of time. Furniture, fists and weapon's would fly, blood would pour and each would eventually go back to their card's and drinking, if they weren't dead or crumpled like old paper on the floor. At time's, even the doxies' would get involved, hoping to score a coin or three in the mix.

But, it was still calmer than what was generally expected. As strange as that seemed.

Particular document's acquired, Jack and Ileen spent hour's upon hour's, pouring over those as well new chart lines for the coming spring.

The crewmen, long since used to the heated discussion's between the two Captain's, went about their business. Even when each spit scathing words to the other and they set off in opposite direction's. It was just them. A space of time would pass, then they would be right back at it, head to head and discovering new possibilities.

While Jack was the relaxed one, content to frequent the local Tavern's and keep just beneath the radar of the Watch, Ileen was the one filled with an unquenchable wanderlust. Oil and water. But somehow, it worked and was seamless.

However, the tide's would remain...unpredictable.
