Walking quickly towards the docks, but more importantly The Pandora, Ileen wasn't going to cause any notice to herself by the milling night watchmen, they would be very busy soon enough. Two things she needed to do, she would then be on her way to the warehouse district. A nod to the several of the crew in passing, they looked at her a bit strangely and watched as she near ran up the gang plank.

Jack would be in the cabin, as he heard footsteps coming up the gangplank. Tilting his head to the sound of them, before stepping out on to the deck. " What be the hurry? " About that time he spotted that it was Ileen that was the charging one. One brow quirked at her.

Brushing around him, she went into the cabin and there on her nightstand was the object of what she wanted. The flint slid into the back of her cutoffs, she was speaking to Jack as she was pulling tiny balls of powder from one of the small pouches. "Swore I would never keep anything from you....and I won't start now. Do you trust me, Jack?" While Ileen was livid, there was almost something calm to her demeanor....too calm in fact.

Turning to follow her into the cabin for a moment, with him leaning in the doorway. " I do be trusting ye. Now what be getting ye to be so flustered. " That brow still quirked at her. " And don't be saying nothing. I be knowing that something be happening, while ye be in town. "

"I've had two run in's with Patrick, the powder dealer that has been supplying our's." The balls leaving a firm dust on her fingertips, more and more were set. "Two very bad run's. This one tonight, just now..." Hand waving. "is the final straw. He just humiliated me in a most vicious manner in the Inn, it's time he's taught a thing or two. "

His brow rose a touch higher on that one. " And what he be saying?" Leaning off the doorway to move towards her, to place a hand to her shoulder to try and get her to calm down.

Ileen had seen the dirty side of Jack, several times...and while she had gone over the edge in front of him with the whore, this was something much different. It was positively cold. After relaying a round about summary of what had been transpired, she rounded him again and removed the two dirks from the side of her boot. "He's lucky I didn't slit his throat right there in front of everyone...after the other day, I didn't dare.."

" Ileen. " One hand grabbing her arm as she moved by him. " This be sounding like he be trying to play ye right into his hands. " Jack actually being the voice of reason for once. " Just be cooling off tonight, and be staying here. We can be going together tomorrow and deal with him together. "

"I don't want him dead, Jack....I want to hit him where he'll remember....his pocket. While he has 3 of the warehouses adjoined in the middle of the district, the larger one is away from any other dwellings and will only effect that one. It is also the one he keeps the bulk of his purest powder. It is a gold mine and I'm going to watch it blow up...no one will get hurt unless he's there. I am not going to do it tomorrow, it will be now."

She'd see that rogue smirk crossing his lips at that. " Remind me never to be getting ye ticked off at me. " Letting her arm go now. " Ye be needing me to be coming along? Or do ye want to be taking a few of the crew along to be helping ye out?"

While she wanted him to come with her, she also knew if she did get caught, he was the only one who could tend to it. "Aye, I do want you to come, but if we both get caught...whose going to see to anything? I can take just Roth if you want....I'll leave it up to you."

Light nod to that for a moment. " Be waiting here. " Moving by her for a moment as he headed down below. Which he would return with Roth and Jeremy in tow, leading them into his cabin. " I need ye two to be going with Ileen. She'll be telling ye what ye be doing along the way. " He then paused as he looked at them both. " If anyone be getting in yer way.. kill them. "

Nodding, Ileen stopped and kissed Jack lightly on the lips, right in front of the men who smirked and headed off the ship. "I'll see you in awhile..." She was gone in a moment, the second pack slid across her shoulder and the men told what was going on and what was needed of them.

Jack would watch Ileen and the two men head off for a few moments, before a smirk crossed his lips. " Never be getting that woman angry. She be dangerous, but she be sexy too." Mused to himself as he moved back into the cabin to wait for Ileen and the two men to get back.

Patrick?s mind was racing as he tamped down the ball into his flintlock. There was no question in his mind who had done this to his warehouse. The bottle was her calling card, Ileen needed to know exactly what line she had crossed. Patrick doubted she would like what she saw on the other side of that line. Did he admire her spunk? Of course he did, the thought of that place going up so precisely after some time to think on it nearly made him laugh. Would he let her get away without a reprisal? If there were a soul he would let get away it would be hers, but no. Ileen had this coming.

Patrick nearly shed a tear when he realized who and what, why she had raised the stakes to this level was a mystery. Could his offer have tipped the scales? He wouldn?t have thought so, hell the woman didn?t believe he was serious as far as he could tell. Well maybe he had been a little rude; the comment about cleaning his boots may have been out of line. He was sure it was all Jack?s fault.

Jack may not have been the one to light the fuse, or plan the affair. Patrick didn?t say he was in on the idea, but he blamed the man. He wouldn?t have had this problem with Red six months ago. He wouldn?t have had this problem with her if she hadn?t told him??Dammit Red why did you force me into this corner? Can?t you see what?s right in front of you?? He blamed Jack for that too, forcing him to look at his life and realize he was alone. Worse that he?d missed out on what he wanted most.

Patrick hated pirates, or most pirates. There was one or two that he would cater to. To him the business of a pirate was disgusting. They took from honest people and used their plunder to buy his powder. He gouged them for it, hard and heavy. Most of them anyway, there were one or two ships he didn?t mind taking a loss on occasionally. A ledger sat on the desk its boxes filled with numbers from a neat hand. There was a color code he used, a simple three color system. Blue indicated legitimate customers, charged in prices that were nominal. Black indicated those of a more notorious reputation. He included military ships in this color knowing that their practices were dubbed as privateering. That word was simply pirate by another spelling. There were flashes of red here and there in his ledger. He almost laughed at the irony, of that epiphany. Noted at the tops of these pages in that same red writing were the words The agreed upon price.

The ledger gave him an idea, a way to show the woman exactly how much she owed him. He quickly went to a filing cabinet and flipped through the receipts in the file marked acquisitions. He pulled out everything to do with the warehouse that had gone up and put it into a leather attach? case. He set it on the desk and placed the flintlock inside the brace with two others. This went around his waist, the documents were grabbed roughly as he headed towards the streets and a hunt for that Red haired thorn in his side.

There was a definite line not to be crossed. It would seem as though the one leading straight to Ileen had in fact been not only crossed, but also stomped on in the process. Patrick being one of the one's from the wench's past that knew she never did anything halfway to make a point. At times, that had been cold and downright scathing.

Far from a knee jerk reaction, she was just all in...at all times. There was no blur of line, no hesitation....it just was.

While she had not done as such in many year's, it was not hard to slip via anger and make her point. He wished to insult her to her knees? She wouldn't be alone down there, he would be right alongside of her. To the rest, be damned.

What he, nor many did not know was it had been Jack that had helped her back in line since her return. He is the one who had given her the power to rise above the guilt and failure she was so very plagued with. He was also the one who told her not to lash out in such a way. Not to mention the ONLY damned person that stood by her side, thick or thin. Always. But Patrick would not be aware of this, as there had been no chance for him to even remotely know the pirate.

Ileen was not hiding, as a matter of fact, she was pretty much in the public view. She had nothing to hide from now did she?

The Grog and Tankard in full swing that evening, she was where she always was most nights....in that dark corner, perched upon a chair and playing poker.

Coin was flowing freely, as was the sound of laughter and roguish inclination's. Was it intentional that she was such a sitting duck? Perhaps. Perhaps not. The talk of the fire not failing in her line of hearing, she made no comment and was just as clueless as the rest of them.

It wasn't until the wee hour's of early morning, Ileen finally had left the Tavern with a heavier pocket and a slight bounce to her step. The District nearly deserted, just a drunk now and then stumbling his or her way towards home or the comforts of an alley bed.

Patrick had made another stop before coming here, bankers being what they are don't appreciate being woken in the early hours. He had time he was sure, the fact was he had arrived in time to see her depart the Grog and Tankard. He followed for a while, this business was not his, he didn't do stealth well and he knew it. Instead of trying he let the snick of the flintlocks hammer call her to stop.

"A moment of your time Red...and then..." He broke off wondering what then would mean.

While the humidity was lingering heavily and the fog was rolling in as sweeping waves across the more inland areas, it didn't change the fact that certain sounds echoed....loudly. Mid stride, she almost saw the Pandora through the mix, but didn't see it quite well enough yet and the booted step halted to be lowered. A moment passing and she turned to face him. "You're up early, Patty...can't sleep...?" Arms
crossing over her chest, there was a fair distance between them....perhaps not enough.

"Not the first time, or should I say that it isn't the first time you were responsible." He knew how it sounded, nothing had ever happened between the two of them as far as intimacy went. This wasn't the first time she had played with one of his warehouses though. "You have my attention, course you had it already and you know that...don't you. You always need to push the hardest though don't you?" He moved closer slowly he was nervous, he could feel everything in the fog see it as though in slow motion. "You're a hard woman, mean even nasty at times Red. You have no idea what you did though...I am here to make you understand."

Just now moving off the deck of the Pandora would be Jack, muttering to himself about being out of rum. No surprise there, as he looked around and noticed the time. Ileen wasn't back yet either, which got a brow to rise as she was normally back by now. Getting a few more murmured words to himself, as he swaggered his way towards the nearest tavern for rum. Easily making his way through the fog, before catching two figures up ahead of him. One hand moving to one of the flintlocks that he carried, as he slowed his pace to try and hear what was being said.

"What are you talking about Patrick...?" Slender brows of course furrowed, a frown turned into a deep marring and she played this part too well for comfort. "By the way, heard about your warehouse...couldn't have been pleasant but at least no one was hurt...or died in the blast...need any help with the cleanup?" Even from the distance, was it possible he saw the shimmer in her gaze, turning it to an almost emerald level..? Nah, couldn't be. "I'm only nasty when I'm forced to be, you know this....but that hasn't been an issue for a very long time..." Rocking slowly on her heels, her left eye began to twitch but sight didn't waver from his face towards the weapon he had trained on her. Not one time.

He steeled his nerve, it was easier to think about doing this than actually going through with it. "You took something from me Red, don't insult me by pretending different. Perhaps I need to take something from you too?" His eyes flicked in the direction of the Pandora. "Maybe then you'd get what it feels like?" His eyes didn't linger, Ileen was his true focus. He tossed a leather document carrier in her direction. It landed in front of her and slid to her feet. "Take that, call it your bill for the space you felt the need to cause to disappear."

Keeping his distance for the moment till a few key words were made note of. One of the voices he could tell was Ileen's, as for the other. It had to be the male she had told him about, and they were talking about the male's powder warehouses. A smirk crossed his lips as he swaggered forward, coming up along the right side of Ileen. There would be another clicking sound as Jack drew one of those flintlocks he carried, leveling it at Patrick. " Would be in yer best interest to be letting this be dropped. Ye be a bit out gunned to be making threats. " Oh yes.. Jack heard that one.

"I didn't take anything from you, Patty.....you're accusing me of something I had nothing to do with. I'm sure it never occurred to your loused mind that the very same night your warehouse was blown up, it happened to another set not too far across town. Do you think I did those too? If so, get your handy dandy watchmen up here and let's talk about it. If not, bugger off and don't come sniffling to me because you were storing the powder illegally...and...boom! You lost it..."

The familiar of her grin now slithering, she heard Jack's voice before she ever knew he was next to her and still she didn't look away from Patrick. Not even when the object fell at the tip of her boot. "Finally, the two of you get to meet. "Captain Jack Morgan, this is Patrick Merrick....Patrick, this is Jack. Patrick thinks I was the cause of his warehouse blowing up, Jack. I guess he doesn't feel as if someone can change. I'm sure we could keep our ears open, Patrick and help you find the rightful owner of your bill..."

Could Ileen see the smirk that crossed his lips she might have guessed that the true object had just made his presence known. The gun changed positions pointing over at Jack. "I may be outgunned, but it only takes one bullet to make you understand Red. I would never put harm to you, just take away something important."

He pointed to the satchel he had tossed. "There is more in there, I think you need to read. It may help you understand me better girl." He was tempted to pull a second pistol from the bracer but the truth was he could barely shoot with the right hand, the left was a ball given to chance. He meant it when he said he didn't want to hurt her. Jack was a different story, for him there was no such inclination.

Jack's brow rose when Patrick turned the pistol to point at him. " That be where ye be wrong. Ye be saying that ye don't be wishing to be harming her, but ye be shooting me. Ye be harming her in a round about way. " Pointing that out to the man, as Jack kept his trained on the man. " So be lowering yer's and be on yer way, or do ye really wish to be taking this route. Think about it. By the time ye shoot and I shoot, and if by chance ye survive. Ileen here will be finishing the job. It's a lose, lose situation ye be getting yerself into here. "

There was a reason why Ileen's arms were crossed. She may have been a bit slow at times, but she was far from ignorant when she came out of that Tavern....alone. Still crossed, the sound of a third snick echoed and Ileen nodded slowly to Jack's words. "It would be a true pity for me to have to tell your daughter than you died amongst the slime on the docks....but maybe she won't be surprised, Patrick. The smoke won't even have time to clear." A chin motion to the document carrier, Ileen shook her head. "Put the damned flint away, Patrick....I didn't blow up your precious warehouse and you're wasting my time."

He shook his head at Jack. "And just like the warehouse, she would rebuild...you see how fitting now don't you." He listened to Ileen, and gave a nod. "It would be a shame, to tell my bastard daughter that her prick of a father died where he belonged. Since you don't seem to want to show any interest in the documents let me tell you about them. The first would be the net/gross income for the warehouse that you claim to have no involvement with. The second would be an inventory for the items that didn't escape the explosion. The third you will find more interesting since it does pertain to you...so pay attention."

He lowered the pistol finally, ignoring the pirate as his business was with Ileen. "You will recall a certain card game we once had, a warehouse that transferred ownership? Would it surprise you to learn that when you gave the deed back to me I had it put in your name?" The hand that put the pistol away shook. His fingers clenched into a fist so he could keep his mind off of it. "I had intended to give it to you as a retirement gift...seems now it must be your dowry...Finally you will find in there the accounts that the profit from that warehouse has been placed. Red, I want to do business with you...but for Mrs. Morgan there is a new agreed upon price." He closed the distance between them and spoke more softly. "And you still never answered my question. I will take it for a rejection...Just remember that when you decide to step through my door again."

Jack's brow quirked again as he watched the male lower his flint, and slowly lowered his own. Not overly trusting the male at all, as for now he remained silent and listened. With his eyes narrowing a fraction as Patrick walked closer, but seeing how he hadn't made any more to harm. Jack remained still, yet at the first sign of any intent to harm. He'd act without a second thought.

"So you level a flint at me before I can even face you and then you level it at Jack and expect me to read some documents? That makes no sense, nor should it be a surprise, Patrick....even to you. The matter of the warehouse and the winning of it, was that and only that. I bested you and rubbed it in your face for a few days before I gave the deed back to you. That was the end of it." She didn't un hammer the flint, at this moment she didn't trust the dealer, not after the last weeks.

"Answer your question....you could not have been serious, you asked me to marry you in the middle of an argument, much like you have in the past...now you act as if you were serious? Fine, the answer is no. Now you can say that I did in fact answer you, but do yourself a favor...if you ever decide to do so again with another woman, you may want to change your approach a wee bit..." Finally, the weapon was slid down into the side of her boot and she snatched up the document folder to extend it out to him. "I won't be stepping through your door again. Just remember this conversation the next time you wonder where those are that I sent to you. And also, don't tell the woman you supposedly have a heart for, to get down and lick your boots. As for your warehouse...or mine as you say...if it was the same one as I wasn't there and don't know....Good Riddance." The line of her jaw tight, Ileen spit in his face, the folder was dropped at his feet and she turned to walk away.

Patrick used his sleeve to wipe his face, a quick grab of her arm to spin her about. "You come to me with news that you knew would incense me...and wonder why I ask in the heat of an argument. You hoped for what by telling me, happiness? You know me better than that as surely as got exactly what you were looking for. Perhaps you played me a bit? Get me to rile you up enough to say yes to him. That's low Red, even for you...to answer you, no the place that went up was a new acquisition. Take that or leave it...sell it for all I give a rats ass." Did he shake her? It was possible he supposed. He let her go fingers still shaking and put his back to her, to Jack and simply stepped away. "This is done...you need not go between me and her anymore...I know it was unpleasant for you." Bitter words spat out best to cut away the things that pained him most wasn't it?

Twitch of his brow when Patrick grabbed Ileen by the arm like that, but waited for him to start to move away. As he wasn't going to risk the male shoving Ileen into him. Again that flint was lifted, but fired right by Patrick's head. " That be a warning. Ye be bothering her again? I be doing far worse than ye be thinking possible. Ileen might be the one that be acting on a moments notice, but I be one that be planning things out. Ye be remembering that. Be messing with her like this again, and I be making sure that ye be losing everything that ye be holding dear. "

Ileen was truly confused. She had not told him about the proposal to incense anyone. She was truly happy and was sharing that, even if she was questioning her deserving of such. She was a lot of things, but she was not one that toyed in the way of relationships in such as he was accusing her of.

"Rile me up? Played you?" While the grip bit into her arm, the look upon her face could never be denied. He was serious. "I finally took a leap of faith, and then you decide as an afterthought to let me know for all of these years, you were serious? Why, because you finally saw that I could honestly feel and actually love, so you blame me..." Hoarse in that, when he let her go and the shot rang out, she visibly jumped.

Footing bringing her take a step back. "I told you he asked me to marry him, because I thought you of all people would tell me I deserved to be happy..." The realization's racing through her, leaving her positively unsettled, she glanced up at Jack and finally walked away towards the ship. "Perhaps if you had the faith in me that Jack does, things may be different. I am not your afterthought, but he is my future..." That muttered, she was stunned.

His teeth gritted as the ball whistled past his ear. Jack's threats didn't fall on deaf ears, the man needed to understand. "I thought you said I wasn't supposed to be hurting Ileen? She's tied herself to you that is...now anything that happens to you will hurt her. Plan, plot..." He waved a flailing hand at the pirate. "I thought there would be more time Red...I...You deserve happiness...There was supposed to be more time." He stopped at the end of the alleyway and looked back at them. "Your too good for me anyway eh? I like em much dirtier and submissive." There was the flash of a grin. "If you happen to come by, maybe we can make a new deal...leave the pets at home though." He spat in Jack's direction and stalked off around the corner.

Flint would slide back into the front of his pants as he turned to head back to the ship. The desire for rum had been forgotten about now, with a mutter to himself. With a glance over his shoulder to Patrick. " Just be dealing with it that she be choosing me. " A shake of his head as he continued on back towards the ship, a few feet behind Ileen now. " Ye be owing me a bottle of rum. " To the wench when he moved along side of her.
