In a surprise twist to the current state of affairs, fighting did not continue in the Red Dragon Inn into Sunday night. However, an unnamed woman was shot down as she propositioned a single man drinking alone.

Siu to Jarl IV: Back down or face the consequences! Tempers flared on both sides of the demarcation line as warships close on B'oru in defiance of council warnings to desist.

The Helix Regatta launched Sunday with nearly 1,100 ships competing in the two-week race around the Qtahmi asteroid belt. The hazardous race is responsible for average losses of 323 cruising vessels each year. Last year's winner, Pohl Lassiter, the top favorite to take home the prize this season.

RhyDin Governor, Fionna Helston al-Amat, was the apparent target of a failed assassination attempt on Tuesday evening. The knife-wielding assailant, described by witnesses as a young girl, was killed as by-standers stepped in to thwart the attempt. No group has yet come forward to claim responsibility for the attack. The governor?s office declined to comment when contacted on Wednesday.

RhyDin City traffic to be diverted around Marketplace starting 1800 hours Wednesday night as carnival setup for Citizens Day Weekend celebrations begins. Streets around market square to be closed to vehicular traffic through Sunday.

Day two of the Helix Regatta ended Tuesday with three lightships lost: the Trilling, of Terra 5; the Ragnarok, of Terra Prime, and the Jade Hawk, of Andlex (Faerrol system). The two week event, which typically claims nearly one third of its competitors each year, has a prize purse of one million universal creds plat.

Citizens Day Weekend is off to a snarled start as RhyDin City traffic was diverted around the city Marketplace on Wednesday night. Weekend events include a parade on Friday, street carnival through Sunday, community wedding reception on Saturday and an air show on Sunday evening. Normal traffic is scheduled to resume through the market square on Monday morning.

Star-struck crowds are expected to gather on Saturday as cousin of famous film actor Jonathan Granger and bride-to-be open wedding reception to the city. Oliver Hudson Granger III, a local artist, is perhaps better known as the son of accused embezzler, Oliver Hudson Granger, Jr., currently awaiting indictment on numerous criminal counts. No word on where the couple is honeymooning.

An anomalous Nexal rift nearly crashed the RhyDin air show on Sunday as an unidentified craft appeared in the midst of sub-atmospheric maneuvers by historic aeroplanes. The ship, which was later identified as a Terran World War I-era biplane, suffered damage as it clipped one of the ships participating in the demonstration while some 500 onlookers watched from the ground. No casualties were reported.

Nelson Gbamdu, captain of impounded ship Jen?Marai, scheduled to be released from RhyDin jail Monday with civil reprimand after paying fines totaling more than 5,700 universal credits and agreeing to port restrictions. The Jen?Marai was stopped at departure by an RASG Wasp fighter squadron during an incident last month in which the ship attempted to leave dock with two RBF-infected crewmembers aboard.
