Rosie had been in the kitchen preparing chicken soup for the next day's dinner service when a rap came to her door. A young boy, no more than 8 or so held up a letter. A drop of two silver coins into the smiling boy's outstretched hand and she retrieves the letter as she watches him scamper off towards the market place.
Closing the door softly, she reads over the outside of the envelope. It merely had her name scrawled in a neat woman's hand. Sitting at the table, she drops the envelope for a moment and takes a sip of her morning cup o' joe. Brian's fault that, she had to smile at the memory. He'd gotten her to drinking the vile stuff.
Back to the envelope her attention went. With a paring knife, she sliced open one end and extracted the note inside.
"Rosie,
Could you please give me some information on the Ball? I have been gone over a week, and I would like to know the details. Is it a towne party? Or must one have an invitation, and if so, who is hosting the party? What of the dress? Are all in attendance to wear masques, and gowns and such? I would appreciate any and all information you can give me.
I appreciate your time and considereration.
Lady Lasherette Beresford"
She lifts her cup o' joe and walks with the letter in her hand through the house to her bedroom. She settles down to her writing desk and pens a quick note back.
"M'lady, the masquerade party is to be held Tuesday, September 12th at or about 8 pm in RDI Great Hall.
The dress is costumes. You may or may not wear a masque, it is completely up to you.
Taneth Mercer and Tera "Destre" Starfare are hostessing the event. No invitation needed, the entire town is invited.
I will be catering the event.
I do hope to see you there!
Rosie"
She folds the letter and places it in an envelope. Her own scrawl neat and precise as she addresses the envelope. Carrying it and her cup o' joe back to the kitchen, she hands the envelope to Sadie, instructing her to get it to a carrier and straight away to Lady Lasherette. Sadie nodded and was on her way.
