Like most mornings, S?jira was not one to stay too long in the bed when the sun was peeking over the horizon. At the palest hints of light, the small woman was awake but she found herself lingering a bit ? until the sun was creeping up over the shorter rooftops ? to watch Panther sleep.
That morning, she did the same before she finally nudged herself to moving. Kitty had said there was plenty of time to work on her wedding dress and so she had made herself slow down on the work that had begun to hurt her fingers. Not a word had been breathed to her or Panther, but she was glad the task was truly not a pressing one.
While she dressed, she thought of talk from the night before. Talk of weddings. It seemed that was where much talk turned of late for many. But the mention of it was enough to make S?jira?s very heart stammer in its beating. Mentioned even between herself and Panther, she was caught between elation and nervousness over just the thought of it. Much ill could be said of what she had been and now striving to be. She had taken many new steps, but she had simply never thought of marriage for herself. What she was purely didn?t allow for it.
The wood and horsehair brush was drawn through her hair in the half-light of the morning. Absently, she tucked the white lock near her right temple back behind her ear and set the brush aside. A glance about to the room, she moved towards the bed. Care was taken to lift the covers over his sleeping form.
Would she make him a good wife? Could her past be something to harm his status within the area? Question.. after question of it weighed on her heart. But each time, she could not help but smile. She knew well that old habits still slipped into view here and there, even apparent when she was speaking with Kitty night before; chiding her gently of her speech. She nearly laughed aloud, but caught herself in time. All would be well and she would gather the courage for steps yet unknown, whether marriage was one of them or not. Her love was for him and she held his trust. She was glad for them, even if nothing else came.
The belt of simply-tooled leather was buckled about her brown dress at the waist with the coin purse attached to it. Idly, she made certain that soft, small bag was cinched and the coins in it not able to fall out.
Now?she and Panther had been invited to two weddings. How it surprised her. By two she did not know and by Kitty to her wedding. Weddings had been attended before, but always served at. This time, she would be able to see it without the distraction of serving the wine and foods. The invitation was picked up from the dresser to be looked at again, then replaced for Panther to see and read it.
The small woman was soon out of the room and stepping from the inn to head towards the marketplace. It was time for a new dress and perhaps some gifts for those to be wed.
