A drizzle had been shed over the complex for some time which had the busy Nana occasionally looking out her sliding glass door to the soaked patio in a temporary phase of post-buyer's regret.
"If it's like this all the time I'm going to cry." She pouted at the slicked balcony which she honestly would have loved to put to good use today.
A year ago Nana had been eagerly anticipating the Yeouido Spring Flowers Festival in Seoul and was deciding between traditional garbs and the more comfortable modern approach. Now? Now she was between boxes of clothes and a mesh of hardwood and tiles passing beneath her feet. Moving was hard work but on a rainy day like this one she couldn't think of a better way to spend it.
It wasn't a large apartment by any means but it had more than enough space for the young Chae to inhabit on her own. The lounging area was an open space with a couch, t.v. and a few other furnishings. On the wall was a framed picture of the Golden Gate Bridge at night over the bay. She had been shuffling the contents between clothes, furniture and the appliances as she tried to bring out the perfect balance in her newly acquired living space. For now she grabbed a glass of water and leaned against her counter in the open kitchen.
Crossing over the wooden floor that would most definitely need a new finishing coat, Nana carefully plucked a record from her collection in the box and held the vinyl in her hands as she spun her way to the record player on the cherrywood dresser. It wasn't long before the maracas and acoustic guitars filled the air and had her dancing. Finding a box that was a little smaller and more recent she began treating it more like a puzzle than a chore and it was going to help her get through it. A smaller frame in hand contained a piece of paper signed by Jay Capistrano with the #77, addressing Jinny, KC and Nana. She of course had put it into a frame and set it on her end table beside her bed. In another frame there was an aged photo with slightly torn edges that was placed closer to the bed of younger Jinny, KC, Nana and Morgan. Then the final one was the more recent photo of the three elder siblings from the Arena.
Breaking into her groove she began to moonwalk from her room back to the lounge and began to thumb through the records again, looking for what could possibly rival the first theme. It did not take Nana long at all before the scratch of the needle left the room silent before she threw on the next track. She took her phone out of her pocket and got right to recording her butchering the lyrics with her out of key singing but was on-point with her selfy pose and duck face before she sent it to Jinny, KC, Eri and Izumi.
"Not a traaaacee~ of doubt in my mind! I'm planning on the warming party sometime either Saturday or Sunday so you all better get ready!" She couldn't hear the grumbling of the neighbors from the loud music and that was just fine by her.
Somewhere though in Nana's mind she forgot a certain detail. What could it have been? She looked around and had nearly finished unloading all of her belongings, which weren't really much, before she looked at the coffee table and saw something that filled her with panic from her head to her toes. That little red dot that indicated recording: she in her cleaning frenzy, with her boxers on and only a tanktop had been streaming this entire time. Her jaw nearly hit the floor before she began to scream in a panicked pitch and quickly shut her meBook.
"AI YAI AIIIIIIIIIII~~!!" She felt the weight of her embarrassment crush her as she plopped onto the couch and instantly went to bury her face in the cushions.
As she lay with the smile on her face and a little flustered she held one of the pillows to her face and groaned.
"Nana you dummy!" She couldn't help but laugh and roll off the couch onto the floor before standing on up and looking out the window. She'd forgotten the blinds. That's what it was.
