"Stand up." The voice spoke harshly "Stand up I said!" The baton came down and crashed into Morgans ribs "What are you doing here boy! Don't you know where you are." Grabbing Morgan the guard slammed him into the brick wall that surrounded the complex "Get back to the west end where you belong you little beggar" Tossing Morgan out onto the street the guard turned but still was talking "Boys like you will never amount to anything in your pathetic lives, might as well leave all of you to rot in the West End like abandoned animals"

Morgan jolted himself awake, shirtless but covered partially covered by the sheet and partially by Dani wrapped around his chest. He took a moment to take in the dark room, the sounds of his breath, Dani's and lil' Morgan the kitty in the corner, purring as he slept. His free hand came from behind his head and over his face as he glanced at the time:

4:00 AM

Slipping out of Dani's grip he pulled his shirt and shorts on and then his team jacket. Stepping out into the cold he looked around the dimly lit streets of the docks. Men were staggering around half drunk and half in lust from the wench they saw at the bar. Morgan moved past him as if he was following some far off voice that called to him

Moooooorgan

His feet picked up speed as each moment went past, bursting through a line of singing drunkards, sending three to the ground in unison; but he kept going. Eyes darting around he turned into an alley and stood there, listening:

Morgan come in

Morgan stepped inside quietly, mumbling to himself the whole way. Eyes not picking up any movement in the alleyway. But the voice was persistent and close.

Morgan, oh poor Morgan, cold and alone

The voice was that of a female, but nothing more was distinguishable.

Where is Jen little Morgan? Your mother would like to see her again, she was always the prettiest

Morgan turned and growled feraly "Mother." He swung towards the voice "You left us to rot in the streets, what are you talking about." Swinging again his fist slammed into a brick wall, breaking his knuckles. Sliding down the wall he no longer heard the voice. Tears streamed down his face as he struggled to stay calm "You deserted us" He mumbled in between sobs "This is your fault!" He stood and screamed towards the sky.

His only reply was a gentle breeze.

dudududun---- dudududun---- dudududun

Morgan had his music all the way up but he could still hear the constant beating dudududun Its like I wouldn't leave him. Morgan rolled his neck around. The market was quiet out at the time of night he was out at. The most that stirred was a few kids who thought it was rebellious dudududun to stay out later then what their parents thought was decent for them.

Morgan kept walking, right through those kids. Dressed in penny loafers, pressed khaki's and stupid sweater vests he sneered. He knew these kids, a few weeks before they wanted him dead. Something about slashing one of their fathers tires. Something totally stupid dudududun. One of the girls that he runs into falls, but he keeps going.

"Ayo you knocked my girl down" Some kid calls back to Morgan.

dudududun Morgan turned, but in the same sense it was Morgan, it wasn't. Eyes were wider then normal, so much so that you could swear the veins of his bloodshot eyes were visible miles away. No movement towards them, just that cold stare that matched the breeze that suddenly appeared over the market.

"Dude, are you just going to creep or you just going to go on. Because if you don't leave Ima kill you." The boy spoke again.

dudududun Morgan just grinned. Still yet to speak he walked forward 3 steps and brought his fists up. dudududun He was wanting to fight and he was getting it.

"You D*mbass" The kid moved forward, throwing a hard haymaker towards Morgan

Those few moments were centuries. dudududun The fist was slow and predictable, Morgan waited until most would have flinched. He didn't. Fist grabbed he used the momentum of the boys arm to send him into the cobblestone dudududun But Morgan didn't stop. Disappearing into the wind he reappeared behind one of the other guys in the group, his foot already impacting the kids knee dudududun as he shot out a fist to clip his face. The resulting crack of the knee was... rewarding dudududun

dudududun--dudududun--dudududun--dudududun "What are you doing!!!!!" A shrill scream dudududundudududun "STOP! PLEASE!" dudududundudududun "PLEASE LEAV......."

Moments were centuries. A blood covered Morgan stepped back from the group of now motionless and barely living teens and stared dudududun There was no grin, nothing on his face, stoic. Sighing he turned and started to walk away. There was simply nothing. No emotions, thoughts, pains. Nothing. The drums were fading away, he needed rest, and that's what he planned on doing.

One girl stirred awake. With a weak voice she trembled "Mo...monster..." her head fell back down, back into the concussion induced sleep.

"Give up kid you will never make it off these streets, you will be like the rest..... Give up kid you are worthless to whole of humanity, you waste the very breath we use every day for your penniless existence... Kid you might as well give up and find a nice orphanage to stay in.... Kid the streets need less kids like you, with no will, no fight to get off their Asses and do something... Kid you need to give up or grow up... Kid.... give up..."

"Give up..." The words rolled off Morgans tongue all to fluently into the stale night air. His brown eyes were hell bent on staring forward and into the nothingness of the night. For a relatively cold night in the market the streets were still bustling with shoppers, most already starting to look for things to buy for the holidays. "Give up..." The words were cold enough to send shivers down his spine and raise his hairs up.

There were times when giving up would have been the easy way out. When his family was kicked out, they could have given up and went into the orphanage where they would be housed, fed, clothed at the possible expense of freedoms or worse. When he was first caught stealing a loaf of bread from a bakery he could have gave up when the man grabbed him and been beaten to death. When he started to take alot of the burden in the hard times for his family he could have given up and let them all starve. When anything bad happened he could have given up, laid down, and died.

But he didn't. His family lived off the streets and were happy with what they had, it wasn't always the best, but it was theirs. When he got caught he fought back and got away with 3 loaves of bread, enough to feed him and his sisters for a week or more. When he took the burden he went the extra mile, many times behind his sisters back so they would not worry about him as he went out late at night to be a thief. When everything collapsed in on him he didn't just lay down and die, he fought, he survive.

"Give up?" He questioned the deep murmuring of voices that ran along with the constant dull pain. They were always there, always telling him to do things, always nagging him. "Hell no." He gave that devilish grin more to himself then anything as he flicked his hook over his head with the simplest of gestures "I'll fight till nothing is left of me, and even then I will find a way to fight." He nodded in reassurance before starting off towards the rooftops, chuckling the entire way.
