The Redneck

Date: 2014-08-05 13:43 EST
Booze Fest Setting.

The Rhy'din Observatory and Botanical Gardens have generously offered their grounds for this event.

In keeping with the season, and overall vibe, the Festival will be set up outside, with booths lining the brick walkway.

Attractions and booths will be set up in a first come, first choice, first serve manner. Either side of the walkway is available for use, with the fountain marking the beginning of the promenade.

Beneath the trees is the building where the restrooms are available.

(Basic in the way of words, but Collie's player's images don't really require a lot of fluffing. Here's the basic setting , have fun with your booths!
Fashion thread is separate.)

Carefully Tailored

Date: 2014-08-06 19:30 EST
Instead of a traditional booth that one might expect, one merchant was rather cleverly blending into the naturally beautiful surroundings of the Observatory and Botanical Gardens with a unique approach to product.

Dotted all around the lush greenery were pale marble statues with a decidedly Roman romantic feel to them. Women with elaborate corded hair in various states of peace, pleasure, enjoyment, contemplation and long flowing marble robes mingled with male marble counterparts; frozen muscles bulging. Various crowns of laurel leaves, or poses of the usual ancient Olympics or various weaponry stared loftily into the distance as if beseeching the heavens.

One detail however might make the more observant tilt their head in passing at the statues. Each and every one of them held real wine glasses. Slim and delicate, they were filled with what appeared to be real wine.

If anyone became close enough?close enough to try and reach out for the glass they might be shocked and surprised to note that the statue was not a statue at all. The 'statue' will gracefully offer anyone reaching for the glass their sample of wine. A small tag tied with golden colored string at the base of the glasses have a simple card tag that read: "Argento Luna: for those who appreciate the fine things in life."

No magic involved, simply the mass hiring of many street performers well versed in being living statues. When the glass has been taken, performers have them refilled and re-pose again for the next unwitting admirer.

While the booth didn?t showcase booze of any kind, Stone Moves and Iron Sports Obstacle Course Gym did offer attempts to climb the multi-sided rock wall for prizes.

Then, should someone want to test their endurance or were afraid of heights, the Treadwall was available to those up to the challenge!
http://www.rockgrrl.com/blog/rgadmin/rockgrrl.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/img_0184.jpg
And fun for all ages could be had on the couple of inflatable obstacle courses for people to work their way through.

Working the event was Owner Sam Sanny, along with Twilight Isle?s newest Keeper of Fire, Grace Frigg. Never fear, the only fires she would be involved in would be in keeping the torches lit around the booth!

The "King of Clubs Magic Shop" booth is tucked into a corner and may or may not be staffed at any given moment, it's proprietors being well known lovers of alcohol, walking around, and walking around while drinking alcohol. The booth itself is warded by magics and protected by a clowder of cats at all times, so stealing is highly inadvisable.

Just some if the items they'll be selling include:

Benjamin Piers

Date: 2014-08-12 15:54 EST
Holtendirk's Dairies brought in their own booth, but it was a far cry from the quaintly peasant Russian kiosk they used to promote their milk products. Vladimir cheerfully built a small and lightweight moonshiner's shack, containing a small still. He had rocking chairs, bales of hay, benches scattered in comfortable shade.

Among the seating there was a fine collection of old hound dogs. Mostly older animals brought from the animal shelter, each wore a collar with the dogs information and a coupon, one free adoption with every jar of 'shine. Each was guaranteed to be a perfect porch hound, good with kids and other animals alike.

Then there was the jars of moonshine, Holtendirk's Pure Shine moonshine- nothing but high quality, high octane moonshine made from corn mash, triple distilled and 'pure as milk', in one quart Mason jars.

Tinted a slight green were the jars of Star's Old Fashioned Sippin' Liniment, moonshine infused with sage, thyme, and mint. It worked as a pleasing herbal bitter or as a liniment.

Jars of cherry and blackberry infused moonshine were stuck into tin wash tubs of ice, with them, bottles of colas and ginger ales. Cups were set nearby to taste the mixes.

Vladimir and his wife Katerina welcomed all comers to their 'shiner's shack, passing out cups of pure, infused, and mixed moonshine. When Benjamin showed up, it was to sprawl with the dogs and fill out adoption papers for the animals.

Of course, Star, the black Gyspy vanner on the label of the liniment, was tethered by the shack, quick to pose for photos and nuzzle friendly drunks alike.

A double-wide booth painted red is set up in a prominent location. The banner across the lower part of the twin bars reads "Red Orc Brewery". On the banners above each booth is emblazoned "Badsider".

The booth to the left is set up with an array of beers. The booth on the right is set up with a variety of other drinks, including the ever-popular Broot, the new Phoenix energy drink, and a display for a new line of offerings labeled BadCider.

The lefthand bar is set up with:

Badsider Ale -- The mainstay of Red Orc Brewery, a best-selling, hearty red ale with just the right amount of hops.

Beach Bitch Blond Ale -- A summer favorite, a smooth, blond ale, light enough for an afternoon on the beach, even if there are spell-casters about.

Bad Wolf Stout -- A thick, hearty stout, with naughty undertones. Just the sort of thing for cold, dark nights, when it's time to play.

Mojo's Raspberry Brew -- A lager? An ale? Who knows for sure! It's a goblin brew, and probably unsafe to drink!

Skullsplitter -- A Dwarven ale, imported by Red Orc Brewery in memory of Janella Vallonia.

The righthand bar is set up with:

Broot -- Made famous by Gren "Brootman" Blockman. A notoriously popular root beer, heavily advocated by the current Diamond, Napoleon Bonarat. Goes well with everything! Especially Broot Beer Floats.

Phoenix -- Partying hard? Make sure to keep your energy up! Push Your Limits with the Phoenix! Tell them The Anvil recommended it, and get two for one!

BadCider -- New for this summer! A cider from the brewhouse that knows how to make a thirst quenching drink for the more adventurous of Rhydin. Three flavors of Badcider are available: Bad Apple Cider (a tart, green apple cider, perfect for any occasion), Sinful Sinnamon Cider (a cinnamony dry cider that pairs well with hearty steaks and seafood), and Candy Apple Cider (a mix of sweet and tart flavors, with a little something for everyone, and a kick to get ya' going!)

And finally, Munro's Deli & Ice Cream Shoppe has an ice cream stand set up beside the booth for those patrons who care to treat their afternoon sweet tooth with a Broot Beer Float. Recommended is Napoleon's favorite: blood orange, chocolate marshmallow, and vanilla bean.

The Silver Mark Brewing Co.
Located towards the front of the walk-way between the garden structures and the observatory is the forest green tent with the appropriately silver writing. The staff are dressed in t-shirts and tanks to match the booth, and a small sound system pumps out music made by Irish and British rock groups...though, not loudly enough to annoy other booths or to assault the passer-bys.

The selection is as follows, with the alcoholic drink options being:
-Silver Mark Lager, the flagship drink of the company
-Heideland Hefeweizen, a wheat ale brewed in a classic German style
-Baron's Batch, a Belgian-style strong pale ale
- Evil Empire IPA
-Banesmeath Berry Brew, a summer seasonal made with elderberries, blackberries, and a brief bite of raspberries

The non-alcoholic or mixer side of things:
-Zeppa!, a lemon-line cola
-Blue, a power-packed energy drink

On top of that, there will be some Silver Mark swag for sale, and a prize wheel where you can win either: a bottle opener, a t-shirt, a free drink at the Silver Mark Pub, two beer cozies, or a brewery tour. (Anyone interested in the prize wheel can PM me to see what they won!)
Finally, the crew will be passing out flyers for the pub:

Mixed Drinks

Fall In A Glass
-this is a closely guarded secret blend that simmers for no less than 5 hours over low heat. Unfiltered apple cider, pumpkin puree, sliced apples, orange, top shelf brandy and of course the perfect blend of spices. One sniff and you will be in Fall heaven.

Golden Apple
-crisp and light from start to finish, this drink is sure to bring smiles. Unsweetened apple juice, orange blossom honey and dry champagne served in a flute glass. Need Chris say more?

Sazerac
-hold onto the bar! This drink is an old goodie that will leave you puddled on your bar stool. Rye whiskey, herb saint, orange bitters and a twist of orange. It might not look like much in the glass, but it packs several rounds worth of punches.

Drunken Oatmeal Cookies
Huge oatmeal chocolate chip cookies will be sold and all the profits will go to the local orphanages. Thanks to Miranda for all the cookies and the recipe! Chris just happen to provide the drunken part of the cookie. Surprise...surprise...

Ingredients
1 cup of softened butter 1 cup white sugar 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon of vanilla 2 cups all purpose flour 1teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/8teaspoon allspice 3 cups of the oats that have soaked for two days in whiskey and honey 1 cup of dark chocolate chips

In a bowl using a mixer on medium cream the butter and sugars together til it appears to be a smooth mix. It will still be gritty to the taste, but visually be smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla to the creamed mix until smooth again. In another bowl sift the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and allspice together. Slow add this to the cream mix til the dough forms, then add the oats and chocolate chips. You cannot skip this next step no matter how much you want too!!!! Cover the bowl in foil or plastic wrap and leave in the fridge for 1 hour at the very least. If you skip this the cookies will flatten out and be more chew than cookie. Preheat the oven to 375F and grease cookie sheets or foil the sheets and then grease for easy clean up. A cookie scoop is the easiest way to get the dough on the sheet in even amounts, otherwise use to greased spoons. Flatten each cookie dough drop a bit so that it will have more of a cookie shape or they will try to keep the shape you drop them in or ball shaped. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes depending on how soft you want the cookie to be. Allow the cookies to firm up on a wire rack for cooling and enjoy! FYI the cookie dough by itself is good too.

*For more detailed information on the mixed drinks come to one of Chris' classes or pm me! Beer and Wines by the actual companies. Mixed drinks by Chris with her own twists and the cookies by Miranda's player. Opening image by ppmapartments.*

Beware the fedora!

Leroy J. Reindeer

Date: 2014-08-16 15:46 EST
Leroy would be manning the booth for the Anniston Gardens Distillery and would be on hand selling bottles of his fine products. Specifically, he'd have three of his more famous lines on sale.

First, his Lupinossai line.

He'd have his traditional "Wolf's Bite" 110-proof rye whiskey, featuring a bottle shaped like his dear wife, Ammy Spiritor. Both the regular and the summer edition (flavored with a hint of salmon berry) would be for sale. He'd also have "Wolf's Kiss", a 110-proof corn whiskey flavored with a hint of strawberry, and in a bottle shaped like his other dear wife, Mirius Spiritor. For those looking for non-alcoholic drinks, he had his "Evergreen Dream" clove and ginger soda on sale (in a bottle shaped like his daughter-in-law and warrior goddess of RhyDin, Shori).

Secondly, his Priestess line.

First up in this line is simply marked "Themyscira" - it's a 95-proof Scotch-style whiskey in a bottle shaped like Isuelt deRomiano. Next is a blackberry-infused whiskey marked "Southern Cross" - in a bottle shaped like Jane Devonstone. Thirdly, a bottle marked "?le de l'Ombre", a lemon-infused whiskey in a bottle shaped like Delphinea Quinn. There's a pair of non-alcoholic choices here too - one vanilla cream soda (shaped like Sheryl Resendei) called "(Anything But A) Plain Jane" and a sarsaparilla shaped like Ms. Devonstone named "Janie's Rootin' Beer". A sign reads, "All profits derived from the sale of Priestess line products will be donated to the Skyackian Sanctuary". He knew it was misspelled but he didn't know how to spell the correct word.

Thirdly, his Redneck line.

The flagship product of the Redneck line is his 95-proof "Redneck Reserve", a bourbon-style whiskey with notes of wildflower. A summer edition of "Redneck Reserve" was also available, flavored with a touch of fresh blueberries. Both bottles were shaped like Thorn, the organizer of this grand fest. Finally, his newest creation, "Dark Traveler", was a 95-proof anise flavored whiskey in a bottle shaped like Thorn's significant other, Roan. A sign at his booth would announce that the profits of any bottles from the Redneck line would be donated to the Dream Chasing Foundation; this policy would not be just for this Boozefest but in perpetuity.
