She spends her mornings listening to walls.

She should not be awake in the morning. Or during the day. For her, it is too bright and too harsh. The world is washed away in this glaring sea of yellow; it is the sun and to her, she had not ever seen anything beautiful come of it. She sees it leeching the majesty of velveteen blue. Killing the moon and sucking up all its silver.

But because...because he might be part of the day, she listens. She puts the delicate furl of an ear against marked, carved and sometimes painted wall because it is all that she knew about where he came from. Your eyes are rubies? And there is a glass dagger at her thigh that is made from his bone. She takes it out when she is listening, she puts it on the wall to see if it will call to him-- hoping to hear the crawl of bug and the scent of him, and perhaps to tell him he smelled and he should bathe.

To comb the knots from his hair.

No, no. Never that. To mock him. To ridicule him. To put her nose in the air. To ask him why he wore such finery once. Why? Where are you going? What do you do? Where have you gone?

Just to...

"I am always alone," she tells a wall of the Inn. It is empty and no one sees the blue black of her mouth kissing it. Speaking the words that she cannot and will not say to any ears. Because it is weak. She is weak.

"Will you come eat my heart? Will you naut come and eat it." It wouldn't grow back. He wouldn't be able to eat it again. It would only be a one-shot deal, a single contract.

But for Gabreal, Suliss' would be so kind.
