Ryo was making his way through the sunlit streets of Rhy'Din, using the golden lighting to make his way through town. Though, he knew this route by heart, as he'd been this way many times before, and he wouldn't have needed a light to find his way. He had some sort of sense for those kinds of things. He soon spotted the building that he'd been staying at for the time he'd been in Rhy'Din. It was an old abandoned building that was right next to the Rhy'Din Theater and Opera House. The house stood one story tall, the roof having a few black shingles to replace the ones that'd been missing before Ryo showed up. The paint on the outside of the building was chipping, Ryo needed to get around to saving up some money for that. The problem was, Ryo had never really needed money before, so he didn't have any, nor had any way of getting some.
The demon sighed, opened the wooden door and took off his shoes to put them up next to the wall by the enterance. The enterance to the house led into a hall of paper walls. Ryo was lucky he had found a traditional Japanese-styled house like this. Even though it was abandoned before he got there, the paper walls were all intact and didn't seem very old. After disposing of his shoes, he slid open the right paper wall and stepped into his shinshitsu, which was what he called his bedroom. The room was very unique, in a sense. His carpet was black, as well as his bed and night stand. The wall Ryo had just come in was the only paper one in this room, the others were stone, but they were painted. The hue used was purple, and many various values of it. It was darkest closest to the ceiling, growing lighter and lighter as it neared the black floor.
Ryo flipped his light switch on, illuminating the room even though light shown in from a window, and made his way to his bed lazily, plopping down on it as soon as he got close enough. He heard a mewing and turned his head to face the noise.
"What do you want, Yamikage?" he asked the cat that was laying down at the foot of the bed. The black former-stray just mewed again and went over to the demon, laying down on his lap. Ryo sighed and laid there for a long while, waiting for something. He knew what, and he knew that he'd be in for a long wait. He should've known that he'd fall asleep waiting, as he did. But it didn't really matter, as Yamikage woke him up right before dusk anyway. Soon he heard what he'd been waiting for, the Rhy'Din Theater and Opera House was rehearsing an operetta Ryo had known and loved since he'd heard of it.
It is unusual a demon would enjoy something so trivial as a musical, but nontheless it was true. He listened to the amatuer lead singer sing through the first two songs. When it came to a male's part, he couldn't help but sing along softly. Pity he only sang softly and that no one could hear him, for his voice was like velvet and silver unlike any other. And even though he was a demon, he had the singing voice of an angel, an angel of music if you would. It soon got to Ryo's favorite song and he started singing a little louder with a voice that could put anyone else to shame.
"~Night time sharpens, highten each sensation.
Darkness sturs, and wakes imagination.
Silently the sense abandon their defenses.
Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendor.
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender.
Turn your face away from the garish light of day,
turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light.
And listen to the music of the night.
Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams,
purge your thoughts of the life you knew before.
Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar...
And you'll live as you never lived before.
Softly, deftly, music shall caress you.
Hear it, feel it, secrectly possess you.
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind,
in this darkness that you know you cannot fight.
The darkness of the music of the night.
Let your mind start a journey to a strange, new world.
Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before.
Let your soul take you where you long to be...
Only then can you belong to me.
Floating, falling, sweet intoxication.
Touch me, trust me, savour each sensation.
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
to the power of the music that I write.
The power of the music of the night.
You alone can make my song take flight.
Help me make the music of the night.~"
After he finished singing the song, he couldn't help but feel better. He was really glad that Rhy'Din had found the scripts and music sheets for musicals from Earth, so he could sing along with any of the ones he knew. He was also greatful that he was able to hear the songs through two, maybe three, walls. He hadn't really thought about that issue though, so he didn't really care now. Yamikage then stood up and stretch, jumping down from Ryo's bed and scratching at the paper door.
"Hey, what did I tell you about that, baka neko?" Ryo glared at the kitty, making his way over to his pet and kicking the cat a little. But Yamikage got what he wanted, Ryo opened the door and the cat sprinted down the hall towards God knows what. The demon sighed, switching off his room's light switch and heading towards his kitchen. Even though he was a demon and demons don't usually eat human food, Ryo had grown a liking to certain recipies of the human race. One such recipie was chocolate chip cookies. That one was actually his favorite, to get all technical and such. Anyways, he got out his usual cooking utensils and started making the cookie dough from scratch.
After he finished with that, he greased his cookie sheet and plopped the cookie dough onto it. Then he put it into his oven and set his timer to ding when the cookies were done baking. He didn't really like eating cookies that much, but he loved making them for some odd reason. Though he ended up eating his creations in the end because he didn't want to kill his cat by feeding him all that chocolate and no one ever really came over to his house to eat them. He sighed, taking off his heat gloves and putting them onto his counter. Ryo then headed out his kitchen's back door and into his house's court-yard type thing. He hadn't really done anything with it, besides keeping the lawn in good shape, so it wasn't anything special. Though, Yamikage always loved laying down in the grass and staring up at the stars, and Ryo usually joined the cat on clear nights.
The night was clear this evening too and the cat was already in his place, laying down in the grass. The demon sighed and walked over to the ebony creature, falling down on purpose to lay next to the cat. Yamikage mewed and looked back up at the sky contently. Another long while passed and Ryo heard the familiar 'DING' of his timer. He teleported into the kitchen, put on his heat gloves, opened the oven, and pulled out his freshy-baked cookies. He set them on the counter to cool and sat down on the floor, leaning against the bottom cabnets and sinking into an introspective state.
