Evelyn?s office.

Lydia sat in front of the woman?s desk, her fingers drumming against the wood as she stared the older woman dead in the face. ?I?m done with the lies. I?m done with the tip-toeing? Where. Is. He?? the question was almost hissed beneath her breath. Her fingernails sank into the finish of the furniture, as her jaw clenched and those crazy eyes continued burning a hole through her fellow-blonde?s forehead. ?Well!??

Evelynn?s own jaw clenched, she took in a breath that made her collarbone and throat pop out slightly and she averted those eyes before swallowing hard. ?Lydia, dear,? she said in a low tone, as if they were in a public restraint and she was on the verge of making a scene?instead of the privacy of Evelynn?s home office. ?I don?t know what it is with you and your obsession with that boy, but it?s unhealthy? Nobody made him leave, dear.? Those dark eyes stared across to see the girl nearly hyperventilating, her hands came up as if it were a burden. ?Remember your coping exercises, you?re going to get yourself all worked up again and??

?Where is he?!? the demanding question rang out with the sound of the lamp crashing against the wall, cutting Evelynn?s attempt to be civil off at the knees. ?I?m done playing these fucking games with you! I?m done!? she said, swiping her arm across the surface and knocking everything?computer and all?off the desk. ?Tell me where he is! I know that you know!?

?Fine,? she practically hissed, moving to gather her things and straighten up. ?The last I heard, he was on some sort of job... Tracking some?monster girl. I don?t know anything else, but it doesn?t matter, because you can?t leave, Lydia.? Staring across at the woman who seemed to be on the cusp of a mental breakdown. ?He left because he was ready, and you?re not there yet? I?m afraid if you continue obsessing over him, you never will be. You need to let this go, Lydia. Not just for him, but for you? You need to focus on getting where you need to be.?

?To hell with this place? To hell with you! I?m done! You don?t own me, god damn it!? Lydia threw up her arms and stomped out of the room, moving straight toward the front door. The sound of things clattering and shattering were heard all the way out of the house as the psychopath threw yet another tantrum.

Evelyn sighed, hung her head a moment, and then pushed up to follow after the girl.

Outside the Sunderman Manor

The rain poured overhead, and two sets of heels clicked on the ground, one trailing behind. The younger of the two stomped fiercely, ignoring the calls from the older who wasn?t even close to being on her tail. Lydia?s own voice drowned out Evelynn?s for the moment. ?Where the hell are you?!? she spat. ?Well then run it,? she demanded. ?Run it! If you?re not at the gate by the time I get here?? Lydia left it at that, throwing the cell across the lawn and stomping toward the gate that seemed like a mile away in those heeled boots. Her black dress was soaked with her hair, clinging to her form beneath the weight of the rainwater; and mind was an absolute mess.

Monster girl. Girl. Who is he with? What is he doing? He couldn?t have forgotten that he?s mine, could he? No, no of course not. I have to find him. I gotta remind him. How could he do this to me? I?m going to make him pay. He will never replace me. Is work seriously more important than me? Why?d he leave? Where did he go? Does he think about me? He loves me. He needs me. I just have to be there. With him. He won?t forget.

?Lydia!? screamed Evelynn as she stomped after, pumps sinking into the mud and tripping her up. ?Where do you think you?re going!? Stop!? she yelled, letting out an exasperated sigh as she broke into a stunted jog after her, trying to catch up on older bones. The young woman insisted on breaking every rule that Evelyn tried to enforce.

Up ahead, headlights shined in the foggy, rainy night air, moving through the opened gate. The black sedan circled around and waited just outside the gate, and the Lydia stepped out onto the pavement, moving over to it. ?It?s about damn time,? she hissed beneath her breath as she stomped toward the car.

Evelynn yanked off her heels one, then the other, her bare feet sinking into the mud as she broke into a faster run and made it to the pavement. Her ankles had already been splattered with mud, and now her feet were atrocious. The roughness of the concrete was harsh on the soft pads of her feet, but it didn?t stop her from closing in the distance between her and the younger charmer. She didn?t want to have to do it. She hadn?t wanted it to come to this.

Either way, her hand came out to grab the woman?s arm, and Evelynn?s eyes fell shut. ?Lydia,? she hissed, bare skin touching skin. ?Get in the house,? halting the younger woman?s hand at the car door.

Lydia paused, water running over her face, jaw clenching. Then, she tore her arm away from Evelynn?s. ?No,? she spat, yanking the car door open and sliding inside, slamming the door shut, and rolling down the window.

Evelyn was dumbstruck for a moment, looking down at her hand. She?d expected the break away, but she?d been waiting for the girl to resentfully turn away and move back inside. When she didn?t, she stared down at the young one, who was sitting in the car glaring up at her. ??how did you??

?Are you really surprised?? she scoffed, lifting her chin as those pouty lips formed a bit of a cocky smirk. ??Mom?? but became quickly bored with the dumbfounded look on Evelynn?s face, and began rolling up the window. ?Drive.?
