The daily mail had been very interesting this morning. In a plain manilla envelope, Rufus had discovered a wonderfully intriguing pack of papers from Dr. Euriya Shilo, detailing the program the psychiatrist was interested in running with Lei. He had to admit, his Slayer was more than a little out of control when it came to anything outside Slaying, especially social situations. Any help the good doctor could offer would be more than gratefully received.

He skimmed through the papers as he drank his coffee, safe in the knowledge that Lei wouldn't be in for another few hours at least. The morning was her time for herself; she didn't sleep more than a few hours once she got home from her patrols, usually around 4 am. By now, she'd be beating the holy crap out of some poor unfortunate tree or shrub as part of her morning routine.

Three two-hour sessions with Lei a week, for the next six to eight months ... that was easily doable. She might be a little resistant to the idea, but Rufus knew how to put his foot down. She had yet to openly rebel against anything he outright ordered her to do, however repulsive it was to her, and after eight years, she wasn't about to start now.

It was interesting that the doctor seemed to want to extend his study to Rufus, though. The Watcher was fairly certain he wouldn't be of much use to Euriya as far as Lei was concerned. He barely understood her anymore himself; she'd come a long way from the naive teen he had first taken under his wing.

The name of the study proposed made him laugh. Adapting to social environments beyond our current capabilities. That was an understatement of monumental proportions. Frankly, if Lei ever managed to have a civil conversation with anyone who wasn't one hundred percent pure human, that would be a miracle. Rufus shuddered to think what she'd do to anyone who actually fancied her.

Her personal space issues had been getting worse since they'd come to Rhy'Din. Surrounded by non-humans at every turn, she'd grown insular, only showing glimpses of her former humor when she was in the company of only humans, and even then, Rufus had only seen it when she was in the presence of himself or Fiora Shantalaine.

Their lessons, while still early days, were not showing any signs of improvement in her attitude toward people of any race. If anything, Lei was even more bad-tempered since Rufus had begun to teach her the social graces than she had been before. And a bad-tempered Slayer was not a fun person to be around.

Decision made, the Watcher took the little packet of papers along the corridor, knocking on the door to Dr. Shilo's office. Opening the door, he offered a wary smile to Sheila Raver, noting that the woman seemed more on edge than usual.

"Mrs Raver, good morning," he greeted her politely. "I'd like to make a few appointments with the good doctor for myself and Lei."
