Dusky adored the new office. The fabulous lighting served to illustrate the wonderful airy quality of the modernized Plaza.

As personal assistant to Dr. Shilo she received her own smaller office that served as guardian to the actual lair of the psychiatrist. It was here that she maintained his schedule, oversaw patient requests, and performed her most important task: Transcribing Patient Records.

Dr. Shilo still relied upon his voice recorder to maintain detailed records. Dusky's task was to take those discs and type them up in a shorthand that made for ease of reference. Over the years she had made herself invaluable by recognizing the important details and providing them in a manner that increased efficiency.

Here, on RhyDin, her files had rapidly increased. Dr. Shilo's original recorded discs stored for safekeeping in the Vault. Her shorthand notes contained confidential information that was stored within Dr. Shilo's priviate offices.

These are the Dusky Files.

My twice daily visits to the Vault became almost ritualistic.

Once in the morning at the start of the day, and again in the evening at the close.

I was always one of the first to arrive, but I could never seem to outpace the receptionist. Unfaultingly civil and polite, for some reason, I found her unnervingly perfect and never lingered to speak with her.

I loved the Plaza and its blend of high tech and magic. To me it capitalized on all things RhyDin. The capriciously outgoing owner had no preconceived notions of what should be in such a place. I was fairly certain one day I might arrive to discover a Melon Vender set up next to the prestigious offices of Dr. Shilo. Such was the oddity.

I had even grown used to the man who ran the Investigation firm with his strange habits of speaking to himself as he maneuvered off on some detecting gambit. The computer technician office had never hosted an actual business. Yet, the name plate remained engraved on the door. The owner had explained that they had paid for a year lease and regardless of occupancy the offices remained. Many of the offices remined empty but based upon the secrets of the Vault I held no concern of foreclosure.

The vault revealed an interesting aspect of the Plaza, for within its well-protected walls was a host of fascinating items stored in a myriad of ways. Too much stuff gathered below to belong to those of us who actually worked inside the Plaza walls and it wasn't hard to determine that our "Captain" had ventured into yet another way to earn revenue.

I was hardpressed not to let my gaze convince me to explore further the odd assortment but instead simply gathered the records I would need for the day.

If, later in the day, when I returned them to the vault I was less inclined to stop my natural curiosity that was to be expected. Never did I make the mistake of touching something that did not belong to Dr. Shilo, but I certainly allowed myself an exploratory visual examination or two.
