In the midst of all of the recent insanity, a mysterious package has appeared on the Headmaster's desk. It is finely wrapped and has a note attached which simply reads,

I saw you perusing magickal studies at The Red Dragon. Perhaps this magick is easier for you.

Briarius was skeptical when he read the note and even more skeptical as he opened the package to reveal a fine black leatherbound tome. The only marking on the outside of the book was one word in faded gold letters

Necromancy

Briarius shuddered. In all of his magickal studies over his entire lifetime, he always shied away from the Magick of the Dead. It couldn't hurt to peruse though so he sat and began to read. After about an hour, he started getting that feeling when magick is coursing through his body. He felt like he could wield something again. It was then that a mouse scurried past his desk. He held out his hand reflexivly and a black sickly energy shot forth and slew the mouse. He quickly followed it up with a gesture and the rodent corpse animated and walked itself into the rubbish bin. He could wield magick...fell magick. Briarius looked at himself in horror. What was he becoming?!

It was the cat from hell that crouched hidden under the desk, having tracked the mouse into here, prior to Bri's arrival. She was waiting for it.... waiting patiently for it to move. She was about to pounce the mouse as it passed by, but the motion of the sickly energy as it whizzed past her nose and slammed into the mouse ahead, caused her to stop in her tracks. It was so unnatural that even the simple little kitten knew to stay still, stay quiet right where she was at, hidden beneath the headmaster's desk. She was, however, too stupid to stay off his feet. Ever so gently, she layed down, curling so softly against them. Purring gently, she fell fast asleep... after all, there was no more mouse to chase.

Feeling movement at his feet, the Headmaster froze. He looked down and saw the little one.

"...and just where do you come from?"

He picked up the little one and patted it's head. He then set the kitten down on the plush armrest to his desk chair. He sat back down and began to read some more. All the while, absently petting the cat...seemingly forgetting the implications of the recent moments.

It was like Sabre to lull her victims into a false sense of security. She purred loudly as Bri stroked her, though hidden beneath her was her tail twitching under her weight. She turned her head and began to lick herself and with every stroke of her tongue she moved it closer and closer to the stroking pattern of his fingers. She licked them a few times as if to clean them. It was, of course, a natural reaction for a cat to smear its saliva along it's victim so that when their teeth sank into the skin, it would cause even more harm.

While Bri stroked and stroked, he would no doubt feel the thin red collar with Sabre's name tag attached. 'Hi! I'm Sabre. I belong to Sha'uri and I live at the Ravensheart School for Gifted.'

Suddenly her head lurched forward and her teeth came down momentarily to clamp on the end of Bri's finger. It was not enough to draw blood but certainly enough to cause a little pain. Her ears pulled back and her eyes flashed devilishly as she eyed his hand for another strike, paw poised in the air and at the ready.

By now, her tail had whipped out from under her and it thumped back and forth against the plush cushion as she layed there a little more on her side.

Back and forth, thump ... thump.... thump .. thump... playful little enticing swipes....

The Headmaster's hand and arm moved swiftly. He snatched the little kitten by the nape of the neck and hoisted it so it was looking him in the eyes, just far enough away so it couldn't swipe his face.

"That is no way to behave little one. I see you are Sha'uri's pet...it all seems much more clear. I'm going to let you down. You had better be good when I do."

He set the kitten down on the arm of the chair again.

Sabre obviously didn't like being picked up by the nape of her neck. She was so intent with her growling little kitten hisses, that they sounded choked and stuttered and unlike their original intent. It was like a silent scream. Of course, she couldn't swipe at him in that position, though when Briarius set her down she most certainly did. Swift was the swipe, swipe, and bite motion but the aims were well off from target. She didn't stick around and quickly jumped from the arm of the chair to the ground. Off she darted behind some other furniture and there she stayed with her growling little protests .... for now.

He chuckled at the little kitten.
