Chryrie was brushing Traeline's hair as they discussed her new school.
"Mister Briarius seems very nice honey. I think you'll like the school. Your Aunt Kitty said she's thoroughly checked it out. Icer has said good things about it. You should give it a chance."
The tween huffed and rolled her eyes. "I know Mom. I just don't see why I have to go to a "Gifted" school. Why can't I just go to a regular school?"
"Sweetheart, you know why. Your bubbles have gotten out of hand. You lose your temper and suddenly half the furniture is on fire. And every time I come home from you being watched by Kitty, the house is full of butterflies. And now when you're upset, it starts to rain on our house. Just our house! The neighbors are starting to talk." It was true. The people next door were having fits about the flooding of their gardens. CKalb had even mentioned how difficult it was to keep his forge hot when Trae was upset. And Chryrie was growing quite weary of replacing her drapes every time the child got angry.
Trae was quiet for a moment before mumbling. "Fine. I'll go."
"That's my baby girl."
"Gods Mom, do you have to call me that?"
"Yep. Mom prerogative."
Trae groaned. But soon they were done getting her ready and they made their way to The Ravensheart School. They had arrived in a flurry of dust on the street outside of the school. Chryrie stared at the walls for a moment before leading Trae to the gate, where they rang the bell and waited.
