Topic: A Return Visit

Touching down gently before the gates of Ravensheart, Artemus looked up at the compound visible from where he stood and nodded appreciatively. It definitely was a nice place to look at. Now for a look inside.

Calm steps took up to what appeared to be the main building. from there the hunt for the office areas began. Which didn't take long at all to his surprise. That and asking a passing student helped as well. So helpful were the students here. That bit of information he filed away for later.

Finally coming to the main office of the Academy he waited a moment for the secrertay to finish her current task.

"Is Headmaster Briarius on the grounds today? If not perhaps can I file an appointment for a later date?"

A gentle smile played on his features as he waited on the secretary to respond. He had plenty of time to wait for a meeting, and it was a busy time of year for both of their schools.

The red-headed elven woman looked at Artemus.

"He is currently in an open office period. You may go right in."

The Headmaster of Ravensheart was standing at his window that overlooked much of his campus. He was sipping tea which made the room smell faintly of roses.

"My thanks." A smile given to the elven woman he moved towards Briarius's office and knocked gently on the door frame to announce his presence rather than just walk straight in. Respect had all ready been shown, so continued respect would be given.

"Briarius?"

Hands coming to clasp casually behind his back, Artemus waited patienly as he looked around calmly. It was a respectable looking establishment so far.

Briarius

The door was already open.

"Headmaster Kurgen, please come in."

Briarius spoke while looking out the window. He turned and smiled at Artemus.

"Can I offer you some rose tea?"

Artemus Kurgen

"Cannot particularly say I've ever had Rose Tea, so I'll try a cup."

Calm steps brought him into the office with a return smile, the rose scent of the office masked a few others he'd picked up in the doorway. Matching a few faces with scents could be good to know, but that had nothing to do with this visit.

"I hope you have a few moments to spare for a small idea idea I wanted to throw past you on a way to protect the Marketplace from further bombings, and ready our schools for working together in the future. Do you have the time for such a discussion, or shall I make an appointment for a later time. It is the holidays, we both have much work on our collective plates."

Briarius

"I have some time."

Briarius walked over and poured a cup of tea.

"Cream or sugar?"

After taking care of that, he handed a cup to Artemus.

"The Marketplace bombings disturb me greatly. As does the murders, and all of the other tragic crime that happens within RhyDin. If one can be stopped, then I am for it."

Artemus Kurgen

"Thank you. " he spoke calmly taking the cup of tea. "Plain is fine, try it regularly before adding anything that might not be needed."

"My idea is rather a simple one, though it may be complex to impliment. You know how the Red Dragon Inn is warded to repair itself if any damage is incurred to the premises?" Artemus paused here to allow Briarius a moment to speak before continuing.

"These bombings, at least in the letters sent about, are designed to drive citizens from the city. For what reasons I cannot fathom, but a protective ward over the Marketplace that repairs any damage done by this individual or group establishes two things. A) We're here to stay. and B) It can be a way to react to them on a non-aggressive level.

To react aggressively and seek blood only creates more violence from them and those seeking to stop them.

I propose making a sentient ward that not only protects the businesses and repairs them, but also keeps track of who comes and goes from the Marketplace at all times. With these we deter future attacks, and can see who is around the Marketplace at the exact time of the bombings.

What say you Briarius?"

Finally he had a chance to try the tea. Was pretty good as he took a healthy sip and awaited Braarius's response to the idea.

Briarius

"An abjuration you say?"

Briarius looked pensive for a few moments.

"This would have to be a very complex incantation. A multitude of little details that must go just right in order for this ward to not collapse upon itself. Not impossible, but very difficult. Not to mention the exact limits of the ward. I suggest we speak to Governor Helston about it and if she approves, we can begin work."

Artemus Kurgen

"I agree, plus a possible governmental sanction on the ward means some extra help in creating it. We should perhaps schedule a meeting quickly, given how the events there seem to be escalating."

His face remained calm through the words as Artemus watched the other head master quietly. True this was a somewhat radical idea, but not an entirely original one.

"I obtained the idea for this after reading about a fallen elven city called Myth Drannor. It was going to open it's borders to dwarves and men with a similar ward. However, on the day of its creation, the magus in charge of controling the thread which sorted out who would be allowed in was slain by a rival. Without that thread, the city fell to attack by some abyssal enemies within a few years."

Briarius

"Mostly correct...but I do see your point. We are essentially raising a mythal. This is not a task to be taken lightly in any phase. We must use careful judgment in selecting all aspects of it. Have you any research on mythals? Here..."

Briarius headed over to his books and selected an old looking tome and brought it back to Kurgen.

"This a guide to mythals penned by one of the wizards that cast the one at Myth Drannor. I found it on my last sojourn to Silverymoon."

He offered it to Kurgen.

Artemus Kurgen

"A Mythal, correct." his head lifted in a nod as Briarius named what he had been describing, the exact name had evaded his vocabulary for a moment.

"I know only fundamentals as very few exist to my knowledge," he then took the book and opened it to the first page. "Sad to say that I have not been there, I know the name and have seen tomes of men and women from there, but the trip is at the end of a long list."

It was true that Artemus knew of many other worlds, but his time to see them had become vastly limited in recent years. His eyes moved back to Briarius.

"You are right, this is a serious endeavor to be considered. That is why I came here to speak of such with you. Rhydin-Town is riddled with many knowledgable and strong magi, but very few seem to hold any concern for this city that they call home."

Briarius

Briarius smirked.

"It is that way with many of the more notable citizens of RhyDin. There could be a utopia here by now if everyone used their talents for the good of all instead of the good of the self. When I first came to RhyDin, I fought with every ounce of martial skill and magick to save RhyDin, but it wasn't enough. Then the accident happened and I was away for many years. Upon my return, I decided that I would keep the flame of Light alive leading by example.

Regardless. We need to get to the Governor as soon as possible."

Artemus Kurgen

"I am well aware and will set up the meeting immediately."

There wasn't much more to be said as the rest of the planning should there, and there more than likely would be, more planning. The go ahead from Governor Helston was the priority while she was the Governor. Who knows how her successor would feel in regards to this course of action.

"I would venture a guess that it is safe to assume you wish to be present at the meeting, yes?"

Briarius

Briarius nodded

"It would probably be prudent."

Artemus Kurgen

Artemus offered a nod.

"Then I will go and make the arrangements. Thank you, Briarius. I hope this idea works the way we've briefly discussed. Have a good day. I will sent word when the meeting can be convened."

With that he offered a polite bow of his head before turning to exit the office.

Briarius smiled and returned the nod.
