Karadis was most intrigued by this Arch Magus Briarius, they seemed to know some of the same people, even though some of those people where quite old indeed. The Ancient Sarrukh sensed an Ancient soul in the being of this enimatic Briarius, if the two ever met before, Karadis could not remember. He came to the fron reception desk at the main office and saw a secretary, an elven woman by the looks of her. In hand he had three, large and very ancient tomes. They were books of magical theory, taken from the Tower of Sorcery in Istar on the world of Krynn.

Or what was left of it, Karadis had traveled to Krynn some 500 years after the First Cataclsym, and it was not an easy trip to be sure. One thing being he had to go within the waters of the Blood Sea of Istar, no mean feat, even for a Sarrukh. But in anycase he found the tomes, one book penned by the High magus of the White Robes, one by the Head magus of the Black Robes and the third was penned by the High magus of Red Robes. Each book dealing with the schools of magic each order dealt with, as well as magical theories long lost, and other esoteric matters. Each book was a prize unto itself, worth a dragon's hoard.

Karadis had the three books wrapped in a fine dark purple vellum cloth, andwalked upto the desk and spoke to the elven woman.

"I am here to see Master Briarius, please, i am Karadis of Toril, the HeadMaster was kind enough to invite me here to his Academy."

Melody looked up at the lizard man.

"He is having an open office session, please do go in."

Headmaster Briarius was at his desk looking at a small crystal. The crystal floated about 3 inches off his desk. It was not charged with magick, but with psionics. He looked up.

"Master Karadis, please come in. I was attempting to learn more about mind magick."

Karadis gave a nod to Melody and entered Master Briarius's office and stood there waiting for headmaster to offer him a seat, he maybe a Sarrukh, but Karadis did have manners, in praticular for those of Briarius's level of magical skill and after all, he was in Briarius's home.

"Hello there Master Briarius, a pleasure to see you again. Mind magic eh, never got a grasp for Mind Magic, telepathic or otherwise. But then again we Sarrukh are immune to illusions and other forms of mental control and/or domination. Very handy when facing Illithids, very nasty things. Anyways how goes things, how are you coming along? Oh and by the way i brought you a gift."

Hands Briarius the three tomes he procured "I do hope you enjoy these, they were quite the find."

The Headmaster stood in welcoming.

"Yes...Mind Flayers. I always wanted to find a way to determine if their wicked nature was inborn or due to the almost hive-like connection they share with their God-Brain. Well...regardless, please sit."

He took the gift and set it down near the floating crystal. He then sat himself.

"May I offer you anything?"

He takes a seat in a rather nice oak and velvet covered chair. And gives a smile to Briarius

"Thankyou Briarius, i dont require anything right now, but thankyou for asking. You have a very fine Academy here i must say, equal to the one in Silverymoon or the one in Waterdeep, prehaps better. But i digress, ah yes Mind Flayers, i have done some anatonical research on a few Mind Flayers in my time. Trust me though i am not a real scientist or anything, just curious as to what makes those things tick. I have some notes if you are interested?

I have always been one who has believed in pursuit of knowledge. After all it was my race that introduced the use of true magic on Toril. And from us the Netherese learned their magic though with disastorous effects i must say. The use of magic greatly depends on the user."

"I was wondering if you were indeed Sarrukh. Pardon my directness, but your race is also known for it's wickedness as well. We are in RhyDin though, and exceptions to all races seem to find their way here."

He smiled to the Sarrukh. He did not seem like he was meaning to offend or even that he was being accusatory.

"Perhaps you would be interested in this..."

The Headmaster went to one of the many bookshelves in the room and found a very old book covered in what appeared to be snakeskin.

"Now...I know it's only a copy, but I do know it's genuine."

He handed Karadis the book. It was a copy of The Nether Scrolls or The Golden Skins of The World Serpent as his people knew it.

he gave a smirk to Briarius's comment, but he was not offended

"It's quiite alright, Master Briarius, it's true my species is known for its wickedness, but then again that was written and said by those who hunted my race, and spread vile rumors. And many races are capable of wickedness, even humans and i have seen celestials fall from grace as it were."

he paused and his mouth went wide when Briarius offered him the sacred Golden Skin scrolls, to a Sarrukh or any other magic user from Toril or to those who knew of the these writtings, to which karadis himself had a hand in writting these were considered sacred relics of the highest order.

"How in Baator did you acquire these Briarius? i am very honored that you give me this, my peoples' greatest contribution to the world of Toril."

he took the sacred texts, and offered a small, but heartfelt prayer to The World Serpent in the tongue of his people, the first language spoken on Toril, Sarrukh'Har

"That copy is a copy I penned. My original copy, which also is a copy, will be locked into my private vault."

He looked at the neatly wrapped gift on the desk.

"Oh, how rude of me. Allow me to open your gift to me."

He sat and unwrapped the gift.

"I see that I am not the only one giving precious magickal texts that shaped the destiny of a whole world today. Except you seem to have outdone me as these seem to be originals."

he looked almost surprised by this fact, but as to how Briarius got a copy to copy, was something he was not going to push.

"you are truely gifted Master Briarius, truely indeed. i am sorry if i out did you, that was not my intention, i assure you though, those are quite the real mccoy as humans say. But there you are, i do hope you find a good use for them."

"now if i may ask, master Briarius, what magicks do you teach here? and how high a skill level do you teach to?'

Briarius

"Would you be offended if I were to copy these and return the originals to where they belong? I have no interest in hoarding knowledge. Knowledge should be available to all who seek it.

Our Academy hasn't seen the likes of an upper ceiling yet, so I know not what to tell you how advanced we are. As far as to what we teach, what do you want to learn?"
