It had been several months since The Headmaster was seen about the grounds of The Academy, but he was there now, walking to the center of campus to the small outdoor plaza. As he walked the Academy began locking itself down, raising wards, and basically making it very difficult to reach the center of campus to follow the Headmaster. All on campus could see him though. A medium sized wooden chest appeared at the plaza when he arrived. A few waves of his hand and the box opened and several pieces of ritual equipment floated to their places in the plaza.
The headmaster stood at the center and read from a rolled parchment he produced from his robes. The language was ancient and not human, but all who could see him could understand the words.
"Restless spirits of RhyDin! I call upon you to aid in this endeavor! Restless dead of RhyDin! Aide me in my time of need!"
Slowly, phantoms began to fill the air on campus, clawed bony hands ripped through the earth, and scores of horrors of the undead streamed into campus.
"Lend me you powers so that I may help those in need. Lend me your strength to rescue those who were taken from their homes and loved ones!"
One by one, the spirits began to glow and pulse. Red points of light filled the eyes and eye sockets of the undead. This red light matched the Headmaster's now glowing eyes.
"For your aide, I will devote my life to seeing that you have a proper rest. A rest that you were robbed of! I will banish your curse of undeath and return you to the cycle of life where you belong!"
By this time, the corporeal undead reached the Headmaster and dove at him as did the incorporeal undead. Instead of ripping the academian apart, the sound of flesh tearing and bones breaking could be heard. There was a flash of black and when all regained their sight, the prim and proper Briarius Ravensheart was wearing armor that seemed crafted out of nightmare. He glowed with an unnatural red energy which he used to open a portal. The monstrosity that was Ravensheart stepped through.
