Topic: Let's Play Clue!

It was Wednesday, the night she had written herself into the headmaster's schedule. She was there, on time ... relatively.

The last few weeks had certainly been a catch up time for her. With the election campaigns, she tried to keep close tabs. So she had been spending a little more time in town. Thus, she had gone to the Inn yesterday and noticed some people of interest there.

It was particularly interesting the conversation she'd overheard between a staff member and someone who had someone registered at the Academy. She would be sure to run that one by the Headmaster, especially the part about the staff member wanting to slap Sha'uri for fading into view... which was amusing more then anything. Even more interesting was the conversation she had no choice but to overhear between two others.... It was all she could do to keep herself from tearing into Travanix. At least she had warned him civilly. She was on to him, though she still had no clue what he was up to. She knew more then ever that he just was. This, too, would be run past the headmaster.

She took a deep sigh and told herself to relax.. she was getting worked up and that's not what she wanted to do. This was supposed to be fun and darn it, she was going to make it fun. She had a whole box of goodies to help with that one. Thinking about all these political things and possible threats just wasn't going to do any good. STill.. she would have to find a way to approach the subject without making it too much of a focus.

Arms full, she strolled up to the headmaster's private quarters holding a small chest sized box. It was like a bag of holding, only it held a whole lot more. She had everything in there, including the kitchen sink and a jacuzzi. She was fully prepared with movie, game and drink.

Sha'uri knocked on the door expecting he would be there, because she sensed him there... and waited for him to open the door.

The door opened and Briarius stood on the other side.

"Come in."

He stood aside to allow her entrance.

"Hi.."

Her voice soft and her face brightened with a smile as the door was open. She stepped inside and made her way in a few steps. Then she set the box down on the floor and opened it up to start taking some things out: a game of scrabble, yahtze, old maid, trivia, monopoly and clue, plus a deck of cards - non magical just plain 'ol poker deck. She also pulled out three movies: Clue, Mulan and Willow. These she either stacked on the nearby table or handed it to him if he seemed to want to look at them.

"I brought some games, some movies which one that goes with one of the games... It's called Clue. Ever heard of it? Oh, and I brought a Jacuzzi if you don't have one.. just in case. Do you have any electronic devices? Say, one that plays DVD?"

She didn't think so, but then sometimes it was hard to predict with him. He sometimes had surprises in that respect. It was possible he had one. After all, he was living in the middle of RhyDin: the melting pot of all times, places, magics and technologies.

"Um...I don't even know what half the words you just said even mean."

The Headmaster was cordial. He saw very little point in the proposed 'getting stone drunk', but he would oblige a friend.

The Headmaster's residence was simple. Various little curiosities adorned various tables and whatnot. There was the tingle of magick everywhere though and it was odd, but here, the latent feeling that spirits and forces made the Academy work for Bri was fairly strong. Any active detection of magick, spirits, or power would make the diviner go temporarily blind from the abundance of all three here.

Any active detection of magick, spirits, or power would make the diviner go temporarily blind from the abundance of all three here.

Funny, she never remembered feeling so much magic, spirits or power before, but then it had been some time since she was last here. Things had progressed. She didn't need to actively search for it to sense it. It was an automatic inactive thing for her. Whoa to those trying to scry into a place like this ... Brain fry.

She smirked at his comment and snickered softly, followed by a gentle chuckle.

"Good thing I came prepared. It's some of that technology you consider voodoo. But I think you'll enjoy this. Trust me. Anyway, I brought a laptop computer... a smaller version that's portable.. just in case you didn't have the equipment."

A hand reached into the box and pulled out a fairly large laptop computer, complete with freshly charged battery so it was sure to go all night. She set it on the nearby table and opened it up. The screen itself was about seventeen inches. The computer was automatically booting up.

"DVD is Digital Video Device, which is a version of a CD, a Compact Disc which was designed to hold digital information like text files, pictures, sound files, etc.... It's like an extended, portable device for storing digital information that you can use to transfer information physically from one computer to another without their direct connections. Anyway, boring details on their exact mechanics, but the information on a DVD is more geared for animations. Movies are that, animations. Some are drawn or otherwise created, and others are literally recorded as is. Kind of like...well, when the OCS had their recording devices throughout their complex and even into RhyDin itself, such as the Red Dragon Inn.. that kind of thing if you remember ... oh, sorry.. that was you're other self.. here I'll just show you. You see, a movie is like a recorded.. play, kind of like you see when you make an illusion that moves to a predetermined set of actions. Now thAt I know you can relate to. Here, pick one of these movies and I'll put it in. Doesn't matter which one, just pick one."

The computer was booted and as soon as he picked one, she opened up the CD/DVD player and popped in one of the movies. She turned the screen slightly so he could see it clearer as the movie began to start. She let it play for a few moments, then hit the pause button.

"Earth has some interesting influences. Anyway, that's what a movie is. The one called Clue has a tabletop game that goes with it. I thought it would be fun to play. The movie is funny though. I bet the kids would enjoy this. So, How's dinner coming? I'm starved...."

Briarius

"Although I am not fond of technology, I am aware how it works. Not to mention, I was trapped on Earth for a long time. Dinner is waiting in the dining room."

He ushered her into a simple dining room with a table for 6. At both ends sat a silver dome.

Shauri

She gave him an odd look.

"You were the one who said you didn't understand a word I said ... And I wasn't aware you were ever on Earth. I don't think I remember that about you. I'm not even sure I remember that about your other self. When did that happen?"

Shrugging, she moved into the dinning room area, bringing the laptop with her. There were things she wanted to show him, recorded from her last visit in town. She glanced between the platters, moving to the nearest one to sniff curiously at it. She set the laptop down beside it and just looked between it and Bri, wondering what was in it. She waited a moment to see if that spot was meant for her or not before she sat down in a place. She didn't want to sit in his seat.

Briarius

Date: 2008-02-17 16:39 EST
He ushered her to the end closest to the door. As he passed the hearth in the wall, it ignited. He sat at his end.

Shauri

She picked up the lap again, blushing slightly as he escorted her to the other end. It would be her luck she would pick his seat. At least she didn't sit in it. She turned to appologize to him as they walked.

"I hope you realize I wasn't trying to usurp your authority at the dinner table." Her tones were mirthful and she grinned, holding a chuckle in check. She was only teasing. "Well, not yet anyway."

She sat down and watched him walk away, casting a curious gaze to the hearth on the wall as it ignited. By the time her gaze came back to him, he was sitting at the other end. It felt very.. formal. She'd wait for him to begin eating, but the silence... was it lasting so long? It made her uncomfortable.

"I.. uh... have a recording I'd like you to look at."

The comment sounded awkward.

"I mean, might as well get the not so pleasant stuff over with first, right?"

She opened the laptop setting it up so he could see her last visit to the Inn.

"You're friend seems to have it in for us, as I've said before. Maybe now you'll listen... She's supporting certain... enemies, ones we should not ignore. Even my father finds this one an enemy."

She turned the laptop around and waited to see if he was coming down there or wanted it brought to him before she would start the show from the last time she was in the Inn.

Briarius

"Lady Kairee has an unusual set of friends, acquaintances, and admirers. Because she is taking gifts from a wicked man, does not warrant condemnation."

Briarius' face grew dark.

"...but it does warrant caution. Cautious I will be."

Shauri

Date: 2008-02-20 19:18 EST
She didn't need to show him, he knew it straight from her. STill... she moved to his side and set the laptop to start playing, just so he wouldn't be persuaded too much by her own reservations of the woman he would want to consider friend. She laid a hand on his shoulder, a loving and supportive squeeze was given.

"I'm sorry, Bri. Indeed, Caution. I'd even say extreme. I will try to contact my father and speak with him about this. It could be that Travanix has plans against the BoL as well. Did I tell you they are going to try and form again? I should pay them a visit."

She closed the laptop with a sigh and then oddly grinned.

"Well, on the upside, at least Renna is proving to be an interesting addition. I think she wanted to smack me when I first made my presence known. She's very skittish about that."

Her eyes rolled a bit with humor.

Briarius

Date: 2008-02-21 15:32 EST
"Mistress Renna seems to dislike magick."

Shauri

Date: 2008-02-22 17:14 EST
"Nah, I don't think it's magic she doesn't like. I think she just doesn't like the sudden appearance of anything no matter how poofy and loud or soft and subtle someone tries to be. Or maybe it's just me she doesn't like."

She shrugged and moved back to her chair, taking the laptop with her again...

"So what's under the dome?"

She peered over the one at her end with child like expectant eyes clearly curious as to what's for dinner..

Briarius

Date: 2008-03-18 08:29 EST
The domes disappeared and on the silvered plate is exactly what Sha'uri stated she wanted when she set this up.

"What you asked for..."

Shauri

Date: 2008-03-23 20:27 EST
Her eyes popped open wide and a smile to match them as she leaned forward to take in the scent. Drool raced down the inside of her mouth and she had to swallow, swearing she could actually taste the meat. The humor was in her tones as she smirked and teased with a flair of sarcism.

"Why Briairus... I guess you dO love me afterall!"

She chuckled as she picked up her napkin and placed it in her lap with one hand, and used her psionics to pour the wine into both their glasses, directing the task with her other hand. By the time that was done, her smile had mellowed, faded away to a more serious demeanor.

While her comment had been humorous, it was mostly to cover up what she'd been going through in other places. She did everything she could to keep that from Bri, if only to protect him from its dark flavor. Still, she knew eventually he would be the first to sense it. ~I Might as well just tell him.....~

Her gaze left the wine glass after taking a sip, shifting to look at him.

"I .. uh... thought you should know, in case you find me a bit..."

Her mind searched for the right word, but one wasn't enough.

"... touchy... maybe even dark, foul, and insane... for which I'll appologize now. But, I'm divorcing Triv."

Her visage hardened as she picked up the wine glass, drained the contents down her throat, and then filled the glass to the brim again with the Elven Blossom wine.

Briarius

Date: 2008-03-24 06:36 EST
The Headmaster looked calmly at his glass and lifted it to his lips. As he set it down, he spoke coolly and plainly, but without any malice.

"Quite frankly Lady Sha'uri, it doesn't take a mind mage or psychic to have figured that out. You haven't seen Lord Triv but a handful of times in recent times. You have immersed yourself in other pursuits. Trust me, from someone who knows how to immerse themselves into something to forget something else, I can see the signs."

Shauri

Date: 2008-03-24 19:55 EST
The wine warmed her body, starting from the throat and easing its way out. It helped mellow her and accept what he was saying with a little more clarity. It was true, so very true. She had immersed herself in anything she could to keep herself away, keep her mind off of Triv and to just let him go...

"I guess you and I are similar in that way. I never thought about that until now."

She lifted her glass and turned it slightly, gazing at how the light sparkled within.

"You are right, though. I have immersed myself in anything I can to forget.. and sometimes I find myself almost wishing he'd never come back. Then I would've never felt so rejected by him... he really hasn't spoken to me since that day. Neither has our son. If only he hadn't come back. Then I would've never.. wouldn't have known her, or lost her... and now? Now I've lost them all."

Oh the rush of tears that threatened, pushed into her visage with a force that she fought back those tears, visibly struggling with the effort though she beat the flood back, held them down in check. Still, the mist was clearly there in her eyes.

The glass was again lifted to her lips and half its contents went down her throat. She set the glass down with a sigh, followed by a sad sort of smirk.

"I guess I'm just too much like my Father in some respects. He's been married four, five... ten times, I don't know. Too many. And I have no idea how many affairs in between."

Sad sapphires centered their gaze to his azure hues.

"Bri? Promise me you'll shoot me if I fall for anyone else? Slap me silly or something...pull me aside and beat me with an ugly stick... lock me up in one of your dungeon cells.."

She was joking, especially about he dungeon cell, and yet serious about the rest.

Briarius

The Headmaster cocked an eyebrow.

"I would sooner attempt to stop winter from driving the autumn away."

He cut a bit of meat and ate it.

"You are only like your father if you wish it to be. You draw too narrow a similarity. Have you not noted that long lasting happy couples are lack in RhyDin. It is the nature of the changing Nexus."

He sipped his water.

"Relationships are difficult and very consuming."

Shauri

Date: 2008-03-25 18:07 EST
She smirked at his first comment. Likewise, she cut herself a piece of meat and ate it, pondering his words. Sapphire hues met his azure gaze again.

"You have a point...they are very difficult. Maybe more bother then they are worth in the long run. At least I tried. I guess marriages like what was between my mother and you..."

She paused.

"Well, I guess that wasn't really you. Well, you know what I mean. Anyway.. I envy that which they had."

She sipped her wine pondering things, like his relationship to himself, her mother's memories stored in her head....

"We're just not normal... are we. I propose we drink more. Want some more wine?"

The bottle was lifted slightly into the air and gently wiggled tipping it side to side but not spilling it.

Briarius

Date: 2008-03-28 16:23 EST
"I have plenty."

He seemed pained slightly at the comments of him not being him.

"No, I am not a typical being. I have come to terms with that. It also means that I will not bring pain and strife to another by embroiling myself in a relationship with them. I will forever be alone, and I understand that."

Shauri

Date: 2008-03-28 19:52 EST
She took a sip of wine. Then her sapphire hues peered at him over the rim of her glass, sensing that pain. He was a hard one to understand, even if she did have an advantage. Her head shook sadly as she set the glass back down.

"I"m sorry if I hurt your feelings, Bri. It's just. well.. never mind.. I guess..."

Her words trailed off, fumbling for the right words but they just weren't there to speak. There was nothing that could convey it right through the mix of disappointment, maybe even anger, confusion and longing she felt. A darkness quivered within. Her appetite was gone and she guarded her thoughts and emotions from him. She picked up her glass and stood, moving over to a window to look out.

Briarius

Date: 2008-04-04 12:31 EST
The Headmaster sighed and stood. He walked over to Sha'uri.

"Lad- ...Sha'uri. Although not of my blood, I will always see you as family. I know I seem cold and aloof at times, but I too have been hurt before. Maybe it's time for you to take focus away from relationships and romance for a little while and focus on you. Until you are a whole, you will not be able to attract a whole. I was taught that on Arangoth. A young lady gave me the very same advice then. After I focused on myself for a while, I realized that I would not be right again for a while and learned that was alright for me. Now, I'm not saying that you will come to the same conclusion, but sometimes you have to do what's right for you...consequences be damned."

Shauri

Date: 2008-04-04 21:23 EST
She didn't look at him at first, gazing out the window and down to her glass, then back out of the windown again. While he was talking, she was nodding at certain points.

"Like divorcing Triv. It hurts, but I know it's the right thing to do for both of us. Forever is a long time. I guess I just hoped things would be like they were before, and the truth is, you can never really go back and have things the way they were before. Everything changes... evolves.. and sometimes that means growing apart."

She took a sip of wine, trying to distract her tears.

"I just wish I wasn't such a baby about it. Give me something to fight and I'll tear them to shreds without batting an eye. Break my heart and my soul goes with it, pulling me down to a blathering idiot...."

She smirked even as the tears fell down her cheeks. A hand lifted to wipe some from her eyes.

Briarius

Date: 2008-04-06 21:39 EST
"That which does not kill us makes us stronger...or so the adage goes."

He just stood there for a moment.

"I really don't have anything else I'm afraid"

Shauri

Date: 2008-04-08 15:22 EST
It was a valiant attempt at humor on his part but the truth is.... it kinda got stuck in the proverbial mud of emotion they each carried. Still, it caused her to chuckle slightly.

"Heh yeah... something like that."

She took another sip of her wine and set the glass on the windowsill.

"But you're wrong about not having anything else. You've got two very capable arms...."

It was clear, she needed a hug. A few more tears were still slowly falling. She was guessing he probably could use one too, wether he wanted to admit it or not. She turned more to face him and slowly drew him into a hug anyway.

Briarius

Date: 2008-04-08 15:42 EST
He returned said hug. It was very odd, but he did.

"Oh, do not misunderstand. I know I have family and friends here. I just know that I will not have that special someone."

He stood there hugging her for a moment.

"The food is getting cold."

Shauri

Date: 2008-04-10 17:45 EST
Hugs.. she loved hugs. They always made her feel so much better. He actually stood there hugging her for more then two breaths, too. It was odd, but nice. She wasn't forcing him to it.

"It can be reheated...."

She pulled back enough to look at him.

"Does this bother you? This show of affection."

Briarius

Date: 2008-04-17 13:36 EST
"Yes and no. I'm just not used to it. I shield myself from it."

He closed his eyes.

"For obvious reasons."

Shauri

Date: 2008-04-17 15:59 EST
And she smiled and gently drew him back into a hug and whispered.

"Hush...just relax. I promise I won't rape you.... well, today anyway."

The devious chuckle quietly escaped her.

"I'm joking. Relax you.. I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to really be held here. It won't hurt, I promise. It's just a hug."

Briarius

Date: 2008-04-21 15:46 EST
"I have very little fear from being harmed physically here."

Shauri

Date: 2008-04-23 18:55 EST
"Then why do you shield yourself from it? What do you fear?"

It was a simple question to a complicated answer but she needed the explanation. Sapphire hues searched his azure blues.
