Sha'uri was walking around the complex after lunch, contemplating some of the things she had to do. Cleaning was top on her list. She moved into the forge area and began to clean some of the things up. Aparrently, it had been some time since the last blacksmith was here.

The place had a morbid stench about it, as if a pile of mice were laying around some where, decaying. Using a cantrip to sweep up the excess debris at one end, she moved to the other to move the heavy stuff.

As she was shifting a rather large box from the wall, Sha'uri nearly lost her lunch from the wave of stench released by the move. There was a pile, but not of just mice. A momma cat and three kittens lay there quite dead.

She examined them carefully using a stick to move them. They weren't dead more then a few days. Some of the mice showed signs of teeth marks, lending to their partial consumption and various times of death over the course of a few weeks. Obviously, the cat ate the mice.

When detecting for disease and poisons, Sha'uri found the truth of it. Some of the mice, the more recently dead, were poisoned and the cat ate them after giving birth to her kittens. It was all rather depressing but Sha'uri doubled her efforts to clean out the forge area, the stables and barnes for any and all poisons she could find. It seemed that the foul concoction had done its job. Never once did she find another mouse alive.

She kept thinking about the little runt kitten, all grey stripped and pretty dark blue eyes. She kept thinking about it so much that by evening, she cleaned herself up and went to the nearest pet store. She was in luck.

There near the back of the cage was a little kitten just like the small one she saw in the barn, only alive. Being small, it was being picked on by the others. However she was full of spirit, and sharp claws with a keen accuracy already developed, no doubt, from the abuse the others were giving. A larger black kitten would swipe at the grey kitten two, three and four times before landing a paw to fur. The grey one only missed as much as the other could hit. Her hiss was demonic in nature.

"Well, well, well... we've a little kitty from hell. Good for you. Give those bullies the little what for they deserve. I'll take her." she told the attendant.

The attendant promptly put on protective gloves and peeled the little gray kitten from off the black one's back.
"Kitty from hell is about right. She has some spirit, though. Lots of personality. I've always been partial to the runts myself."

Then the attendant handed the squirming, hissing and swiping little kitten to Sha'uri, who grasped her quickly and held her close and firm. Sha'uri cringed at the little claws digging into her chest, but she spoke to her soothingly and kept her immobile for a time. Surprisingly, the kitten calmed after a moment and began to pur, slowly easing her claws from Sha'uri's flesh.

Sha'uri gave a big "O" sigh of relief and nodded to the attendant.

"That'll be 25 Silver crowns then."

Sha'uri added some fish, a mouse and some water to the list before she paid the total price and headed back to the school.

"Sabre.... I'll name you Sabre like the keen thin sword design for accuracy and grace. "

All was fine until she entered the school. And then Sabre, the demon kitty from hell suddenly went from calm and purry into a frenzied little hissing squirming ball of furr. Sha'uri lost her gasp and Sabre went running for places unknown, down the hall and around a corner........

"Sabre!" And there went Sha'uri after her...........

Down the hall and round the corner, Sha'uri chased the little one as she swiftly darted through an opened door, little hissing demon from hell up ahead. Sha'uri then heard two.

It became painfully obvious that there was another cat in the house when Sha'uri ran into the room and witnessed her little Sabre leaping onto the couch, up to the back of it and down... sailing down to the other side where she heard the growling hiss of an older one.

Sha'uri was too late to save her reckless little kitten from the wrath of an older one. However, the older one merely scared poor Sabre and the kitten came wiggling out from under the couch and ran straight to Sha'uri's feet. Sabre arched her back and hissed in the general direction of the couch, which was answered by the other with a deeper hiss. Then Sabre relaxed, did an about face of demeanor, and began to purr and rub up against Sha'uri's legs going round and round between them.

Sha'uri laughed softly as she picked up her little kitty, cradling her in her arms. "You've some competition don't you! You'll be fine. You two just need to get used to each other. Though I wonder who's cat that is."

Slow steps cautiously took her near the couch to peer behind it. However, the cat seemed to be startled and frazzled a bit too much for company. It hissed and growled and darted under the couch. All Sha'uri saw was ball of fur. Was that Grey? Tan? No... White, she was sure. Then she remembered.

"Blizzard?"

Could it be the same cat that Bri had when he was married to her mom? If it was, she knew Sabre definitely startled her. Blizzard didn't normally hiss like that, even to other cats. Indeed, she had been a playful cat, but she was definitely a lover kind of kitty. Sabre could probably take some lessons. She held her own kitty firmly, spoke soothingly and moved to the front side of the couch.

"Kitty, Kitty... Blizzard? Is that you?"

A skittish white cat pops her head out. It's definately a white cat. It definately answered to 'Blizzard'. It just doesn't seem to be the same cat.

"Oh my... goodness... either you've changed, too, or else you aren't the same Blizzard. Pretty one, though. Yes you are.... You're a pretty girl. You look a bit starved, though. Are you thirsty? Doesn't your master feed you?? Aww... poor thing. Meany 'ol Bri forgot you. Come on... kittykitty, here Blizzard. Come on... this way. Auntie Sha will feed you."

Sha'uri went to the kitchen and found a suitable set of dishes to use for her kitten, since the petshop didn't seem to have that sort of thing. She'd have to complain to the shop owners at a later time. But for now, this would do.

Noticing the bowls obviously set out for Blizzard, Sha'uri put some fish and water into both sets and placed Sabre's bowls on the far side of the kitchen from Blizzards.

Sabre darted for her bowl as soon as Sha'uri set her down and the little kitten began to eat. Sha'uri looked around the kitchen to see if Blizzard had followed them in.

The young cat did not follow.

Sha'uri shrugged her shoulders and moved to the cupboard to find something, other then fish for dinner. Beans, beans and more beans. Obviously, either Bri didn't stock much here or it was time to replenish them. She moved to the icebox and rummaged through there. There was a little bit of Ham, some onions already chopped, half of a green pepper and a dozen of eggs. There was also a Jar of Salsa. It was all still good.

"Breakfast. Why not for supper?"

Shrugging her shoulders again, she cooked an omelet and sat down at the table to eat it in peace. She was about to take the first bite when the little cat from hell slinked round her leg, purring. With and arch of her back, Sabre hissed up at Sha'uri to get her attention. Once on her lap, Sha'uri was about to take that bite, but nearly dropped the fork when a set of razor sharp little claws sank down into her leg, one paw at a time while Sabre kneaded a place to lay down in. At the moment, Sha'uri wasn't wearing her armor.

"I can see that I'm going to have to make it a point to always wear my armor around you. Ouch!"

At this moment a woman walks through the door to the outside with a large sack over her back. Behind her a couple of pages hired from town begin to unload the cart outside. The woman definately bears a striking resemblence to Shu'uri's mother.

The woman sees Sha'uri and smiles at her.
"First week with a new staff member and I already can't get the shopping and the cooking done fast enough. I'm sorry Lady..."

Again, Sha'uri was going to take that first bite when the door to the outside opened and a beautiful young woman with a large sack on her back stepped in. Sha'uri merely smiled, at first, not recognizing the woman's resemblence to her mother. It wasn't until the woman spoke and smiled that Sha'uri realized who she looked like.

Like her mother, the woman was about 5'7", lythe yet curvacious build, the voice was sultry and sensual and the dimples in her smile were an exact match. Facial features like the eyebrows, nose, cheekbones, lips and chin were uncannily like her mothers, though not exact. Her dark chestnut hair was long and tied back with a forest green leather string. Her hazel green eyes sparkled with mirth just like her mother's used to do.

There were differences. It was the eye color and hair that were different from what Sha'uri would have known her mother like, though her memories matched what it used to be. Sharalis was called D'Shara when she first came to RhyDin. Back then, she had dark chestnut brown hair and hazel green eyes, just like the woman here did. Through many physical changes, brought on by various powerful things, D'Shara's hair and eyes were the most prominent features changed. In her last days upon RhyDin, she was called Sharalis, her hair was silvery white blonde and her eyes a flame with a sapphire glow of the Erim.

However, the biggest difference of all was the accent. This woman had no accent like it. Sha'uri could hear her mother's thick accent in her mind, though, comparing the two to each other.
'First week wi'th new staff member an already I can nae get 'th shoppin an cookin done fast enough. I'm sorry, M'lady..'

That's how her mother would've said it. The other big difference was that this woman was a cook and Sharalis had never been in her life. Well, Sha'uri hoped this woman could really cook. After all, she'd have to eat the stuff most of the time.

"No, really, it's okay." Sha'uri finally pulled herself from the shock, swallowed it down and shut her opened jaw to speak. "I don't mind cooking. In fact, I enjoy cooking. So... how long have you been a cook, or even been in RhyDin?"

She reached for the Salsa and poured a bit more on... and Sabre began to growl quietly.

"I'm sorry miss, but I have chores to complete and cannot engage in small talk right now."

It was polite, but still a bit abrupt.

The cook/maid finishes her larder restocking and moves on.

"Sorry. By all means, please don't let me stop you from your duties."

No, it most certainly was not like her mother. She would've talked up a storm while still doing her chores. Some people can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time ..... some people simply can't.... or wont. The later came to mind as she watched the maid and ate her food in silence.

It was just too wierd how much the maid did look like D'Shara in her younger years. Sha'uri wondered if there were any more coincidences like that in any of the other staff.

Rinsing her plate off and leaving it with the other dirty dishes, Sha'uri picked up her cat from hell and moved on to her room... the little one nudging close to Sha'uri as if she wanted to be pet more, and yet growling softly as if in protest.

"You are a strange little kitty .... Yes you are!"
