Topic: To BE dragon...

Several days had gone by and Lyndra had contemplated her situation while performing her daily routines. Other then conversing about her normal chores, Lyndra hadn't said much to anyone except to say she'd picked a last name, Nightbloom.

She had been pondering what it meant to be of Dragon Kind and realized she knew very little about it. So in her spare time, she had been visiting the libraries in the area trying to find information on the subject. Some of the information was helpful, yet not. She didn't know how to *be* that.

Lyndra knew that to understand what *being dragon kind* meant was a long way off even if she did find more information. She had to understand what kind she was. This was a problem for her. Not just for her, but from what Sha'uri was telling her, it wasn't of known value.

"I don't know if my children have enough of the dragon DNA in their bodies to have the ability to change into one. I would've expected Alex to have developed the ability by now, but he has not. I'm not sure if it's because he can't, or won't. I guess the same could be said for Bryce. Maybe it's only possible in the females. The lineage of the Nightbloom's is dotted with stories of dragon contacts and rumors of dragons seducing Nightbloom's, spawning their offspring. That is all my mother ever told me. That my great, great, great grandmother was rumored to have been some kind of dragon and that her great grandma had been one, too. Maybe they were the only ones caught being one and so the story of seduction was used. I don't know what to call our kind, either. None of our DNA match right with other known dragons, though some things are close... almost mimicked even."

Not even the Mistress understood fully what kind she was. They were the only source of what they were and as such, Lyndra didn't know how to become that part of her that was in her.... to BE a dragon.

She sat at the table on the patio that overlooked the gardens. Afternoon tea was set before her and she had hoped for someone to join her. A note had been left in his mailbox, though she wondered if he were around to get it. Time would tell. For now she sipped her tea and read up on the current book in hand... *From Platinum to Blue: Book of Dragons*

He wondered around the school abit refamilerizing himself with it. He had been gone a while and while he had been hired to teach there he never got the chance to teach a class. And he so wanted to teach A class on dragons.

Robes hanging he took a turn another turn and then oopss he was lost again. "How in the world did I get lost again. My lair is bigger then this I think." He kept moving, in drow form he was just a pile of robes moving about and not as agile as in dragon form. With a final few turns he emurged on the Patio.

"Hello Lyndra. Seems I have been gone a bit longer then I thought."

"I was hoping ye would join me. Better late then never, I always say. I've been reading up on the different kinds of dragons, but I need yer help. I just don't get it, what it means to bE dragon. How do I change?"

It would dawn on her a moment later that he probably had no clue what she was talking about.

"Oh, by the way.. I'm some kind of oddball dragon, apparently. And I've got a last name now, it's... Nightbloom ... and.."

She felt herself begin to stammer and so she clamped her lips shut tight.

He sat quietly listening to her with practiced patience. When she was done he fussed a bit with his robes. He had always wondered how people wore these things but after a few moments seemed to find a way to get comfortable. Her news didn't suprise him. On the contrary the way he acted he seem to have known, if not exactly something about it.

"Nightbloom." He paused a moment over the words and smiled. "the name suits you well." he smiled a moment collected his thoughts and continued.

"As to what it is to be a dragon, you have no further to look then in the nearest mirror." He stoped and watched her a moment and continued. "Like every humanoid race, every demonic race, every angelic race, we are what we, ourselves, choose to be. If you choose to be a dragon that likes sunflowers, dancing, and fuzzy bunnies then that is who you are. Or you could like Eating stone, crushing trees and hunting game. What we are does not define us. It is our heart inside and our actions that make us who we are."

Again he lets it sink in a bit but contiues finishing his thought. "Now I can not tell you who to be, but if you wish to learn about your abilities and such that your race affords to you then that I can help with. But how you use them is all yours."

He sits back letting his words sink in. He knows she has many questions and the smile on his face is genuine. Like a great book he sits waiting for someone to open him to the correct page so he may tell the story of a life time.

"As to what it is to be a dragon, you have no further to look then in the nearest mirror."

It was the expected odd look Lyndra gave him, having no clue what Knite meant. An embarrassed grin tugged at the right corner of her lips causing that crooked smile to form with her dimples. She listened, though, and pondered every word Knite spoke, making note of how they defined even him. She liked the picture they drew and hoped her own painting, as it were, could be so beautiful.

"Sunflowers, dancing and fuzzy bunnies are good. But I like the Night time sky, the backdrop speckled with a spray of starlight, and cotton candy wisps of clouds framed round and through the Moonlit hues, watching it wax and wan as the night deepens, then fades into noon."

A smile beamed with realization and surprise.

"Wow, that sounded pretty good. I have no idea where it came from ... just made that up."

She had the *pat me on the back* look, actually proud of that little bit of poetry. She understood what Knite was trying to tell her and so she nodded.

"I know what ye mean, Knite. The essence of Spirit vs. essence of physical. I'm having trouble with the physical part mostly. I don't know what I'm supposed to look like or what abilities I have."

She poured a cup of tea and offered it to him while she spoke.

"Sha'uri said it was similar to hers yet not. She said her mother had an opalescent shimmer in her scales like hers, yet different colors. She wouldn't elaborate more then that, though. Maybe I'm supposed to figure it out myself since I am slightly different from her mother. Still, I don' t understand how to change my form into one. I just don't get it. Tell me, Knite, if ye will ... what exactly are my abilities? Do ye know them specifically or just generally. Because I haven't found specific answers for my physical kind of dragon .... our - Sha'uri, Sharalis and My kind. I didn't think anyone really knew. Do ye? How do I learn what my abilities are? How did ye learn yer own?"

She took a sip of her own tea, eager to learn yet patient for his answer. It was obvious she appreciated his input and respected his every word. And just really wanted to learn how to shift her form like she had seen others do. It intrigued her.

size=9]Tell me, Knite, if ye will ... what exactly are my abilities? Do ye know them specifically or just generally. Because I haven't found specific answers for my physical kind of dragon .... our - Sha'uri, Sharalis and My kind. I didn't think anyone really knew. Do ye? How do I learn what my abilities are? How did ye learn yer own?"

He smiled quietly as the questions came at him. He was quite ready for them but she needed to ask as he knew. He took a deep breath and carefully worded his response in his head before he spoke.

"First I honestly do not know exactly what your abilities are, nor do I know what kind of dragon you are. I have run into many species of dragons in my long life and although your sent is familiar it is not known to me. I do have a ton of books in my library about many of the dragons I have met or seen or have heard of though" He knew that wasn't the answer she wanted to hear but he wasn't finished.

"Now what I can do for you is get you started. Being a dragon like being anything is a lot of self discovery. But first we need to get you to be a dragon. Then like most races we can get a look at you and at least give you some back ground on what type of dragon you are and what typicaly your race can do. Now what I am going to tell you DON'T try right now. We do not want to accidently break the Headmasters estate." The drow smiled lightening the mood.

"To find out who you are get yourself a nice big area as us dragons tend to take up a little space." He winked a moment and contnued, "Then get some friends around that you trust just to help you out or if anything cheer you on. Next and this is the part not to do just listen. Pull a picture of yourself and put it in your mind, put it right at the front of your mind, you should almost feel a sort of tingle. Then take a small picture of a dragon, and it doesn't have to be exact of what your race is, a black and white picture works just as well. Your skin will tingle and almost start to itch at this point. Then Shrink the picture of yourself while enlarging the picture of the dragon in your mind. Your body will react accordingly, you will start becoming the dragon you are. In the end take the large picture of the dragon and put it over the picture of the humanoid you and let it cover it up. Bye the time you open your eyes you will see with a different vision of the world."

He pauses a moment to fix an errent fold in his robe. "To return to your humanoid form you just do the opposite. In fact this is how we teach wyrmlings to learn how to turn into there humanoid forms. Also don't get discouraged if you can't do it right away. Some times the body does not want to let go of the familiar. Give it time and patience. That is one thing dragons always have." He smiled as he watched her eyes take everything in like a child learning to play a game for the first time.

"From there we can work on the rest and of course we will eventually get to one of the greatest abilities in my book. We can teach you to fly." Knite smiled. "But as always small steps first."

He relaxed letting her take in the information he gave her. She had a lot of work ahead of her but he knew she was willing to work hard.

Every time he smiled, she smiled and her eyes lit up with mirth. She soaked those words into her mind, imagining what he was telling her.

"I almost feel that I could do it right now. But like ye said, it'll take time... small steps."

Her smile widened, deepening those dimples and her eyes lit up with a mischevious twinkle and soft giggles escaped her. She set her tea down, hopped up and took his hands into hers. Excitement in her voice while she tugged gently to get him to stand up.

"Come on. Show me? There's a huge meadow over there beyond the archery field. It's big enough for ten dragons! Come on.. show me! Change for me? Take me for a ride? I've never been and I .. well, it would help me more then those books ever could. Please?"

Pleading mirthful hazel orbs twinkled with mischievious emerald sparkles, begging him to show her. Her words slowed and her voice softened, gaze shifted to a more serious visage.

"Show me, slowly? So I can understand."

Knite

He got tugged up to stand next to Lyndra. The mirth in her eyes was like a child eager to get there parent to open Christmas gifts.
"Well I can't change here but hold on one second." His eyes glowed white as they did in dragon form and he smiled letting them return to normal.

He gently pulled her into his arms. " I can get us to that field in a instant. Hold on." In the blink of an eye they were both standing in the field. Flowers bloomed, grass birds flitted back and forth catching the insects that dances about the flowers.

"You were right, plenty of room out here." He let get her barrings and then released her. He could tell the trip was a bit quick for her but the smile on her face was that of acceptance and she was good to go.

"Okay step back a little and I will do a slow change for you. After you do it many times it becomes natural but I can slow it down for you."
"First get the image of your self right to your fore mind." He closed his eyes and relaxed. "A tingling of your skin will occur when you got it correct. " As to show her he pulled up a sleeve of his robes and showed almost like goose bump on his flesh.

"Then imagine the small dragon. The reason a small one is it makes doing the first transformation easier." With that he took another deep breath and the goose bumps on him started to arrange themselves into a scale like pattern. "At this point everything will tingle very strongly and at this point you will have the hardest part as your body will want to almost reject the picture in your mind. Just hold your resolve."

"Now watch, I am going to shrink the person and increase the dragon very slowly." With that he opened his eyes and they started to go from the normal dark eyes of a drow to the bright white of his dragon form. His body slowly arched and the robes started to blend in with his flesh as scales started to from. His limbs lengthened his face and neck started to also. Black scales were now visible as were 3 new appendages. Two wings and a tail. With that he started to grow more and more. He put his front hands down on the ground and just kept growing.

"Now at this point the dragon image is almost full grown and the person is small. Take the dragon image and place it over the person. This will also be difficult as it is the final step and any will the body has left against transforming will come through here. But just push on through. Once you do it the first time it becomes easier and easier like this."

With that his wings grew and spread out his tail filled in full. He was his dragon self, a piece of the night sky with glowing white eyes and twinkling stars in his hide. You could tell he was not full grown but he was still the normal size he was when in the Red Dragon Inn. he smiled down at Lyndra.

"And that is how you do it. Your size is something you can control but it will come later. First lets get you to dragon form, but even before that, if you want to try flying I am more then willing to give you a ride."
He bent down and on his back a silver saddle appeared complete with feet straps, and safety belts.

"It is entirely up to you where we go next."

She felt as if he knew her so well, pulling her into his arms. It was odd, though, her reaction after the teleport. It felt different this time. Perhaps it was the excitement that kept her stomach from lurching like it normally would. Indeed, she was smiling, even thinking she wanted to do that again.

"Okay step back a little and I will do a slow change for you. After you do it many times it becomes natural but I can slow it down for you."

She didn't know how much a *little* was meant to be and naturally thought of it in human terms, instead of dragon terms. A couple of steps is all she took back.

As he spoke, she got an image of herself in her mind and as he showed his goosebumps, she could feel the same forming all over her.

She could imagine a small dragon and for some reason the color of her hair seemed to stick in her mind except that the dragon she pictured was more of a bronze color, gold patterns shimmered across scales rooted in black, green hues swirled round in the bronze and gold patterns and an opalescent shades of blue and green tipped the scales. This had never happened before when she thought about what she'd look like in dragon form. It was kind of like looking in the mirror for the first time.

The image was brief as Knite's transformation seemed to shift her attention to him. She watched with utter interest, her gaze glued to his every move, every arch, twist and wiggle as his body went through the change.

What she didn't realize was that the pupils of her eyes pulsed, shifting briefly to the slat eyes of a dragon and then back to normal. So caught up in it, she almost didn't move in time as his form was growing. Somehow she managed to step to the side, grabbing hold of a scale to keep her balance and watched the rest of the transformation from his left side. Her head tilted back as she watched the wings stretch and grow above her.

Hazel green hues with dragonlike pupils, glanced over the saddle with anticipation before they shifted her gaze to his now white ones. She bent over briefly grabbing a handful of the back of her skirt and brought it forward between her legs, up and tucked it into the belt of her skirt forming them like pants.

"I am so not passing this up!"

She was already climbing aboard even before she finished her sentence, sliding her bum end neatly in the saddle, sandled feet slid into the stirrup and smiling widely.

"Ride please? Wherever you want to go."

The ancient dragon swiveled his head around to make sure she was fastened in. A keen nose caught different scents from her and he smiled but held his tounge. This woman was quite ready to become who she was.

As she made the last click on the straps he gave a toothy smile. "Well if it is anywhere I choose you will need to hold on with all your might cause we are going up!"

He crouched like a great cat about to pounce on his prey and checked to make sure she was ready then with a great leap and rush of wings they were air born. He continued to beat his wings for a bit then let them out flat to catch the air currents and he zoomed through the air. He glanced back once in a while to make sure she was ok, then with a "HOLD ON" he banked and flew over the school then the town proper and even the Inn.

His wings beat once in a while but she could tell there was more then just the air currents keeping them aloft as he zoomed towards the mountains. With an up draft he went up and over a hill and then down into a valley. He followed a river for a bit untill it ended at a water fall. Flying out over it left a spectacular view of the valley below. He turned and with a few hard beats of his wings landed on out cropping of Rock about half way down the waterfall and far enough away to keep them dry while providing a great view of the water fall and the valley.

"Well what do you think? Enjoying so far?" The dragon smiled at her. It was a good day.

Lyndra

When he looked back to her, she remembered about strapping in so that by the time he took off, she was tied securely to him. She held on tightly, whoops and laughter of pure exstatic joy escaped her as they flew up, out and over the school and over RhyDin. She waved down to the people and thought she saw some familiar faces near the Inn and Market areas.

"Was that Icer down there?!" she shouted to Knite, leaning forward a bit. "She's at the Inn a lot. Oh, and there's the market area... the beaches and.. I think that's Sha'uri's beachhouse down there, right next to the bridge there... sort of. Hey, that looks like her."

There was a figure coming out of the jump gate who looked vaguely like Sha'uri. They were up high, though, so she wasn't certain. Still, it seemed like it was. She waved some more. Though the figure didn't wave back, Lyndra felt this uncanny sensation that she had caught their attention, felt other things she couldn't explain though it was profound.

Her gaze looked ahead then as they left RhyDin, seeing the mountians growing in the distance as they got closer to them. She kept her gaze on them as they flew. A few up and down motions as they zoomed up and over the hill, and down into a valley seemed to tickle her tummy. She giggled every time it did.

As they came to land on the ledge, she took in the view, gaze looking out over the valley. It seemed that she could actually see a long way away, details coming to her now that she hadn't expected to see. Her gaze shifted back to the waterfall and finally coming to rest on him with a smile. Those hazel greens were still pulsing, though now the draconic slits in her pupils were a bit more dominant.

"Enjoying? How can I not? This has been.. just Beautiful."

She thought about using the word breathtaking but somehow she wasn't so sure he'd gotten there yet with the ride. He'd been holding back, she would guess mostly because he wasn't his full full size and she could imagine that he was a whole lot of fun waiting to explode, wanting to just fly high... or perhaps that was her wanting to see how high he could fly.

"Is this where yer lair is?" She glanced back out over the valley. She'd been to his lair before but had arrived by different methods, plus she hadn't really seen the outside of the lair.

"It's beautiful here. Kinda makes me think of swimming. Got a pool somewhere?"

It had been a good day and she didn't want it to end.

Knite

Date: 2007-06-10 18:47 EST
The ancient dragon smiled back.

"No this is not my lair, we are a few miles from it. But I know of a nice mountain lake where we can go swimming. Hold on."

Making sure she was holding on he leaped off the outcropping and plunged downward. His wings snapped open and he glided out from the waterfalls face and back up into the sky. With a few flaps he was flying high and over some hills. he let the thermals carry him more of a relaxed glide then true powered flight.

With a left bank he plunged downward coming to a beautiful open area with a good size lake. The clear lake boasted cyrstal blue waters and beautiful surroundings.

The dragon glidded in and landed near a sand bar. This part of the lake was cut off from the rest because of the large sand bar and make a more or less small pond. A small stream ran into the far edge and with pleny of outlets the water stayed moving and fresh.

"I hope this will do. The is one of my favorite places to visit."

Lyndra

Date: 2007-06-10 20:02 EST
She hung on, and then her stomach felt like it was suddenly far from its usual place as he dove down the side of the cliff. The thought occured to her that she should be careful what she wished for. Still, she had to grin.

As soon as they landed, she unstrapped herself and carefully dismounted. Then she took off her sandles and walked over to the edge of the water to stick a toe in, testing the temperature while she began to unbotton her clothes.

"I can see why you like it. This is a nice place, Knite. How did you find it?"

Knite

Date: 2007-06-12 20:29 EST
The dragon smiled and then slipped carefully into the water so as not to disturb anything. He was apparently accomplished at this task cause only small ripples were formed.

"Well I was just exploring the mountains, when I came across it. Something I always love to do was explore new places. Rhydin is no different. I have been all over the place and even have a part time job drawing up maps for people. It is quite a pleasent past time."

He slid the rest of the way in to the water so only his head and a bit of neck were above the surface.

"So what about you Lyndra? I come to find I don't know too awful much about you besides the fact you work at the acadmy. How long have you known you were a dragon. Are you scared about any aspect of it?"

He watched her a bit as he relaxed in the water feeling his body relax more. He kept his core temperature down so as not to heat the water and he was just relaxing.

Lyndra

Date: 2007-06-13 16:07 EST
"Ye must really enjoy yer life." she smiled, imagining what it must be like for him. "It sounds like fun, actually, to see new places, new things, discovering them even. I would like to go along with ye some day, just for a little while."

She turned round, slipping off her skirt and sliding the shirt from off her shoulders to reveal a two piece bathing suit underneath. It was black with irridescent purple and blue wavy lines stripped through it at an angle downward to the middle. The clothes she folded neatly and set them atop her sandles, away from the water's edge so they wouldn't get wet.

"There's not a whole lot about me, Knite. I haven't existed too long, in fact, I'm barely a few years old, technically."

She expected the odd look and so didn't look at him while she slipped into the water. She dove down under and surfaced up next to him. It was a little deeper for her and so she held on to a scale of his to keep balance. The question was answered a little hesitantly, though she was slowly letting the hurt of it remain in the past. It wasn't who she was now.

"I was a creation by someone with ill intents. Thankfully that didn't go through, and it's a long story, but.. well, I admire the headmaster for allowing me to stay. Ravensheart school has been my family. It has only been recently that we've found I am physically more family then I thought. You see, the one who created me took physical samples of Sha'uri's mother and made me, altering them slightly."

She left it at that.

"They did not take out the dragon in my blood. I thought it would be fitting to continue on with her mother's maiden name since I did not have one of my own, I am technically her relative and there are no more that we know of. Thus, I've adopted the name Nightbloom. Other then living at the school, working there and learning there ... there really isn't much more to me. Except maybe the job at the Oracle."

She wasn't sure if it was the memory of what had happened, or perhaps the slight chill of the water cooling her down more then she anticipated, but the shiver ran up and down her spine. The subject was quickly switched back again.

"So, can I come with ye some day?"

Knite

Date: 2007-06-13 20:12 EST
Knite made no faces or any comments while she told her story. He just listened like he always did. He moved a bit as she held on to his scale.

"Oh yes if you want you can come with me. Once we get you able to change forms I think you will be doing to if you like it that much."

He gave a toothy smile.

"Then you have to keep up with me." He winked then caught her shiver.

"OOpss water a bit chilly." The water wamred up a little next to him. "There you go that should take the chill off. And NO i did not release gas in the water. I can control the internal temperature in my body and radiate it out. It helped Shauri and me out of a tight spot when we ran into Cutter that one time."

He swam a bit more just relaxing. Making sure she was relaxed, cause for her to change it would have to be giving up everything she knew up until now.

Lyndra

Date: 2007-06-14 15:34 EST
She had to chuckle at his comment about the gas.

"You know, gas was the least of my worries since there were no bubbles. Besides, I can hold my breath a long time. You didn't .. pee did you?"

She was teasing him. She knew he didn't, otherwise the water wouldn't have been as clear as it was. Her other hand reached up and patted him gently while she softly chuckled.

"This feels good, the water, the fresh air ... I could just relax and nap on this a bit."

Then she turned round backwards to the direction he was moving in, laying on her back as the water gently washed around her. She still hung on to his scale keeping her head above water... and then she just relaxed.

The memory of the flight here played through her mind, as did the memory of Knite changing. The image she had thought of about her dragon was still in her mind as well. She tried to imagine what it felt like to change, or to fly or move as one. All this played in her mind while she relaxed and was quiet for several moments, just meditating on these things.

Though the water was warm, the goose bumps began to form again. It had nothing to do with the temperature. Her hearing seemed to increase and she slowly became aware that not only could she hear the birds singing in the trees, but she could hear the flap of their wings and the rustle of the branches as they landed and took off. She could even smell the nut a squirrel was munching on near the shore.

She opened her eyes to confirm all this and realized her skin was forming into scales. It startled her!

"Knite!"

Her voice sounded strange. She turned back round to face him, up righting herself in the water. Hazel green hues were wide with wonder as the tingling surged through her. He was right, part of her wanted to reject that image and yet.. the other part needed only a little encouragement. All she had to do was look at Knite.

She closed her eyes, gently pushed away from him, and kept hold to that image in her mind, pulling it over the image of herself just like Knite had shown her. Then she sank down under the water.. letting go of her humanoid limitations. Oddly, though, just her bathing suit floated to the top as the water began to churn a bit for several moments. Then all became still and silent.

Knite

Date: 2007-06-14 18:56 EST
He watched her sink. The bathing suit floated accross the top of the water like some grim reminder of a body once there but the dragon didn't stir. He had seen her start to transform. His eyes caught the scales and he could smell the touch of her scent.

Right now there was no scent, no noise, just the beating of her heart which he picked up. He sensed no panic, no fear, just the want to be what she wanted to be.

The ancient let her go. His head came under the surface to watch as a set of eyelids slid over his eyes to let him see clearly under water. He monitered her. The Ancient would not let any harm come to his friend but he did not want to interfear either. So with patience born of a dragon he waited and hoped. It was really all he could do.

Lyndra

Date: 2007-06-16 12:50 EST
Perhaps her thoughts had formed to the literal too much. He'd said picture a small dragon, right? Well, she had kept to that and in the back of her mind thoughts of being like a newborn, rebirth and a new beginning were foremost as she clung to the image of herself reforming into that dragon.

So when Knite stuck his nose into the now churned up slightly murky water and his eyes adjusted, he would feel little claws cling gently to the end of his nose. A small bronze snout pushed up over the end followed by hazel greens that blinked anew.

Lyndra's mind wasn't exactly new, though seemed more open to telepathy, but her form had taken on the most literal sense of it. She was no bigger and looked just like a freshly hatched baby dragon.

Blinkblink.

She looked down at her new talons attached to arms that were now legs, realizing just how small she really was. She glanced back to her little wings, flapped them gentle and slow under the water. Then looked back to Knite with the broadest smile he'd probably ever seen in a baby dragon before, so full of wonder and excitement and ... pride. She'd done it!

She also seemed to be breathing under the water just fine, too. She opened her litte maw and tried to say something but only the awkward waterlogged sound and a few bubbles escaped. Her thoughts awkwardly nudged to his, though it hadn't been her intention, she just didn't know what she was doing.

*Oh that didn't sound right. How come I'm so small? He's HUGE! I feel like a dot. But wow! the claws, the wings... this is soooo awesome!*

Her back talons were clasped to the side of his snout while her tail swished side to side in slow motion.

Knite

Blink Blink. The ancient dragon stared at the baby dragon at the end of his maw. He knew who it was, but did not expect this. To go from one form to another was one thing but to go to that other form and come out smaller that was something interesting.

He pulled his head out of the water carefully so as not to dislodge the Bronze Baby. Once out of the water he smiled a toothy smile. "So you are a bronze. Interesting I wonder if your a true metallic or something a bit different. No matter."

He brought his head over near the shore, and set it down. Now you followed all my information right except making the dragon in your mind bigger. That should take you to your correct size. Although you may just be a baby dragon. With out knowing your full make up it is impossible to tell."

He watched a moment at the baby got off his nose and she started testing wings and tail. "I do have to say, your darn cute that small." He gave another toothy grin wondering how much more the woman would suprise him.

She was a bit different even though she looked a lot like a bronze. Her purring startled her at first, though she found she liked doing it. It made her feel happy!

"Oh yeah, I forgot that part."

She said as she carefully got off his nose and stepped on to the shore. Indeed her wings and tail were exercised a bit as she paraded them around, moving in a circle. She tried all the little things that a baby dragon might do when they first discover themselves, like touch her tail to her nose, jump up and down, run... try to do back flips. She landed on her chest with her front claws spread out, body curled backwards up over her head with her back feet dangled atop her head and wings stuck out the sides.

"Good thing I'm small, eh?" she could hardly talk in that twisted position and so her body flopped back so she was laying on her stomach, body stretched out across the sand trying to ease her aches away.

"Okay, okay... I'll try the big thing now." She glanced towards the water. "Is that my bathing suit?"

If a little dragon could blush, she was blushing!

"Good thing dragons don't need clothes, too."

She chuckled and then tried to relax, warming herself by the sun, soft purrs rumbled gently from her. She laid her snout upon her now crossed front legs, one claw over the other like a pillow to hold that maw. Her eyes closed and she began to settle down from all the excitement of changing and just tried to concentrate on that form, only a little bigger.

That tingle came in again, she could feel herself growing and regressing... her form was actually shifting from dragon to her half elven form, bare as it was but she didn't know. She kept her breathing calm and tried to go with the flow of it, letting her body stretch and form larger, and larger, pushing her thoughts of that dragon form ahead and her body began to shift in kind, staying longer with the dragon form as it grew, colors changing slightly and her body forming into an adult until she was that dragon she had first envisioned; Mostly Bronze, but a cross with opal and gold and a splash of blue and green.

She was different. It was different from the one she was cloned from - D'Shara, just as Sha'uri's was different from them all. Yet the three were the same race. It was the race of dragon that they were.. Spiritual in nature, souls effecting the outcome of their forms. Perhaps Knite, being an ancient and race that he was... plus having the advantage of seeing Sha'uri change, he could feel that most keenly. He'd been the only one to have ever watched like this.

She slowly opened her eyes, a bit of innocent hope in them.
"Well, did I do it?"

Knite

The ancient watched quietly and smiled. Lyndra's bare elven form didn't even get a curious look, For him being without cloths was just his nature. Then again dragons had a different sense of modisty then most humanoids and well honestly never really had a god use for clothing. There scales did such a good job. But her dragon form had the elder taking in a deep breath. His eyes took in the splash of colors the golds and bronzes playing off one another. the blue and greens combining to give her difinition and charecter. The opal to highlight features. In the ancients eyes she was as breathtaking as the day he saw Sha'uri change.

He blinked a moment and realized he had probably paused a bit too long but he quickly regained his composure.

"Yes my friend you have done it." he bowed slightly in acknowledge of her transformation. "You have become what you are my lady." He brought up his head and smiled a toothy grin.

"And if my reading is correct and my mind is not being decieved by your beautiy. I would say that you are a Soul dragon, or at least that is one of the terms used to describe your race, although I am afraid I do not know much about them. Only what I have read."

Knite watched her a moment and let her get used to her form. The ancient was very impressed.

"Soul dragon?"

Her gaze looked to him as if he were the answer to her prayers.

"I am?"

She seemed to scootch closer to him, extending her neck and lifting her chin to nudge her nose against him gently, which was an attempt at a hug. She didn't know how to do that in this form, wasn't even sure if dragons even kissed. She wasn't sure about a lot of things, except that she was very thankful she got up this morning and came with him today. She was pretty sure she'd come with him anywhere, anytime. Her trust was that deep.

"Sha'uri would be so pleased to hear this news. Tell me more of them, what more ye know?"

Knite

He had excepted the hug with a smile and had enjoyed the wonderness in her eyes. He could see though that she wanted more. More knowledge of who she really was. A lifetime of knowledge in as much time as he could give it to her. Normaly the ancient would just give guidence and let the wyrmling learn on there own. But Lyndra was different. Not a wyrmling but an adult dragon over night. He know she would be going through a lot but he also knew he had to help. He felt a bond with her for some reason.

"First before I tell you what I know about Soul dragons lets start on being a dragon. Emotions for one thing is something you will have to get used to. In your humanoid form you knew when someone is happy, sad, excited, scared or any other emotion just by watching there body, and by almost getting a feeling. Well dragons can put emotions into feelings and project them. Just when you touched me I felt gratitude and trust in that one simple touch. Even though you were not trying to project it you did. Dragons can project almost every emotion. The most notable to most people is fear. Dragon fear is in almost every legend, every tome every sages book. And what is sad is that a dragon can do all emotions like that, just most focus on the negative. It is how most communicate with each other in concert with our touches. Like this."

He lowered his head and with the side of it he touched her neck and ran it up to her lower jaw. In that touch powerful emotions of warmth, trust, and caring were felt. Like a hug from one you care about, or someone who just made you feel comfortable and safe. All the emotions flowed out of him.

He brought back his head. "You are in a much different world now Nightbloom. While most your age have lived here there entire lives you have just stepped into this world. While you must learn lots on your own. I will be here for you to get you through." He smiled a toothy grin.

"For A Soul dragon, your life is a rare one. One of rare healing magic, that does not come from a god or goddess, but that is formed from with in." He touched his nose to the side of her neck and she felt that he would protect her no mater what.

"You are special Nightbloom. For that I am sure."

The emotions he passed to her were overwhelming. Her eyes closed as he hugged her dragon style, and she soaked up all those emotions, letting herself get lost in them. She felt so close to him. It almost made her feel like she was flying.

Her eyes slowly opened at the prompt of his voice, only then becoming aware of the soft purrs she eminated... and kept eminating. She couldn't help but smile a toothy smile to his toothy grin.

She was intrigued by the power he spoke of, though was still uncertain, still learning so much about it all. Yet, she would trust him and do her best. It felt good to please him, to know he'd be there for her. Her nose nudged softly to his neck.

"Yer special, too, Knite Shadowstar. I'd be there for ye too."

Knite

The ancient smiled. "Now be careful with your emotions. Some dragons have been lost to those very things, sleeping for hundreds of years, terrorizing country sides, or just watching there own reflections."

He touched her softly. "And you have so much to learn. Another thing I don't want to do is over load you."

He streatched like a great cat letting his wings and tail all the way out. Shaking a little he sat back down. "Besides you want another thrill. Wait till you learn how to fly." The grin and wonder not only on his face but behind his eyes was something to behold. It spoke of an emotion that would make anyone tingle from head to toes.

Lyndra

She nodded to his warning about her emotions, understanding how easy it would be to get caught up in them. She remembered Icer's ordeal with the Rage and it was the first time she realized she could be caught up like that, too.

Still, she couldn't help but giggle at his enthusiasm about flying. She supposed a little too much emotion in the right places was okay, and his about flying was how she hoped she'd get lost in them if she were to lose herself in any emotion. She just wasn't so sure about her wings yet.

"I don't know if I'm ready for that... this flying thing. At least, not on my own yet. Maybe I better just ride some more. Then when I'm strong enough, I'll know better how to do it on my own."

She'd come a long way today and as she pondered her own words, she was wondering how to get herself back to her half elven form. Reversing it was easier said then done. Her gaze was caught by her bathing suit still floating around in the water. She scooched that way a little, stretched her neck and lowered her head to pluck the item out of the water. Her gaze went back to Knite as she dropped the suit to the ground between them.

"How about helping me to change and then ye can show me how ye rEAlly fly. Hmm?"

Smile.

Knite

Date: 2007-06-27 19:51 EST
the large dragon smiled.

"Well that is pretty easy. Just reverse what you did earlier and when you do imagine your clothing, like what you would wear normally on such as an occasion. You will find your scales will form the clothing for you."

He grinned a bit and looked at the bathing suit. "If that doesn't work I will gladly avert my eyes and provide you seclusion with my wing." His words sencere.

"Now remember the change has to be felt as a tingle. And always just let it come, your body will remember. Then we will go flying, and if not then I will fly you back in that form. I can carry you no matter." He gave a wink and let her absorb the material. She had a lot on her plate.

Lyndra

Blink. Smile.

"Ye mean I can shift my scales to clothes? Any clothes? ... hmm.. I could wear anything I wanted then. And then nobody would realize I'd just be runnin around all nekid like...er..."

She rumbled with her chuckle, but she was thinking about it. That impishness was in her smile as she lifted her snout up by what would be his cheek.

"No wonder ye're so happy all the time...." she pressed lips gently to him, attempting to leave a kiss. "Free bird!"

Laughing, she moved away to clear her mind, though it was a few moments before the chuckles finally died down, mostly because she kept thinking about him in drow form with clothes that weren't' exactly clothes. It was something for her brain to get used to , but she was sure to think about it every time she saw him, now ... or any other dragon in humanoid form, for that matter. It was just something that never occurred to her before and she needed time to get used to it.

She laid down again and closed her eyes, trying to envision things backwards. This time, though, she tried not to think about the small baby dragon - or the small self - so much. The last thing she needed to do was change into a baby halfelf. Then she'd probably be stuck like that. Well, it was in her mind and she fearfully respected that.

She just concentrated on the grown up halfelven self with scales shifted into clothes. It took about three times before she got it right, though each time it was because she couldn't' decide what to wear, experimenting with a very skimpy to a very conservative outfit and finally settling on something she normally would wear anyway, which was what she'd been wearing when they first arrived.

"Okay, I'm ready now... Fly high, freebird!"

She was beginning to like that nickname for him. Giggling, she climbed aboard and settled atop Knite, leaving her real clothes behind....

Knite

"Freebird?"

The dragon kinda scratched his head a moment as she changed. He shrugged, apparently she like the name. He watched quietly and smiled when she was finished.

As she jumped on his back and into the saddle he smiled at her almost wickedly. "So you ready for a real flying lesson." Quick silver armor appeared over his head and in lines running down his scaled body. Like a great outer skeletal member it streaked over vital points and bones giving a look of almost a skeleton on the outside of the dragons body.

"I would say hold on but to make sure I don't loose ya. My armor will keep you in place." With that the quick silver slid up and onto her body. It did not restrict her movment but she could feel it holding her in place and it seemed to stiffen as the ancient dragon moved. A makeshift wind shield appeared on the saddle in front of her with hand grips to keep her head down.

"It will help till I can get to a good cruise. Now hold on."

With that the dragon flexed his wings and with a leap was airborn and with the armor in place they rocketed into the sky. With hardly a flap the dragon trippled his fastest speed from before as they soared into the heavens.

The quicksilver armor intrigued her and she found it comfortable and secure. She liked how it kept her right where she wanted to be. The handlebars were different, though, but she would do as he suggested and lean forward to grab hold and ... Hang On!

If Knite thought Sha'uri had been loud when they had flown from space down to the moon of Zed, Lyndra was twice as loud (and quite the knee grib) as they rocketed upwards through the RhyDin atmosphere. Her consciousness reeled for from the G-Forces, but she recovered after a few moments and began to laugh.

Something about her seemed to adapt to it all and adapt to the thinning air around them. She was fine and even loving the whole thing, mostly the thrill of the speed. She seemed to quiet down and enjoy the ride as they shot out of the atmosphere and into the heavens themselves. She was actually just speechless, taking in the view with awed breaths.

~I think I left my stomach on the ground.~ She mused silently. ~But ye know what? I dun care. It's so beautiful right here. I think there's enough left overs there, they won't miss me for dinner...~

Knite

The dragon chuckled in her mind.

~I am glad you like it. The armor is an artifact my brother and I created. And the speeds I can approach now witht he menuverability is mind blowing. But I should mention the only reason this works is because when we fly, nature and magic work hand in hand. And it verys in every dragon, some use only there wings, while others use only magic. I am use both all the time. ~

He let her think about that a moment then he banked hard and headed down wards, rocketting over the landscape. Soon the Acadamy was in sight and comeing up fast. It had been a fun day.

Lyndra

Nature and Magic. Thus she'd had her first real insight to the art of flying. She would think carefully on his advice and keep it in mind for when she actually would try to fly.

The ride down, though, was even more exciting. Perhaps too exciting. He grip tightened more, knuckles turning white upon the handles as they came in for the night, the ground coming up fast... and she began to hyperventilate.

She had to close her eyes tightly and force herself to trust his flying because the urge to change came up on her hard and fast causing her to breath extra hard. She didn't know for sure, but she could only imagine what a mess it would be if she were to change back into dragon form right then, riding on his back protected by the shield. She didn't want to find out the hard way and so she did what she could to keep herself calm.

Then she remembered some of her health classes and tucked her face into her top so that she could catch her breath and breath it back in. It was amazing how quickly that calmed her. Still, the urge was there and so she adopted a breathing technique used by women in labor. Odd as that seemed, it came in handy and actually, as far as she was concerned, kept her from changing while she rode those urges.

It actually got to be kinda fun and she forgot about her anxiety as the extra intake of oxygen *lightened* her brain and calmed her down enough that she was breathing more normally by about halfway down. The rest of the way was totally enjoyable. By the time they reached closer to the school and started to slow down for a landing approach, Lyndra was literally laughing at herself. At least the anxiety was gone along with the hard urge to change and she found she really wanted to fly herself someday soon.

The landing pad just outside of the school was clear to land on and she waited until they had landed to give him a hug. Then she shifted down off of him and without thinking about it too much, she changed to dragon form to give him a proper dragon hug just because the first one didn't feel adequette. It was truely a heartfelt thing, total appreciation and affection. It really had been a fun day and neither of them had to say it.

Knite

The ancient dragon returned the hug and just enjoyed the feelings. It had been a good day. In a way the elder dragon didn't want it to end. But the conflict inside of him would not let him dwell for too long.

He smiled then shrunk down to drow form. He held out his arm waiting for hers.

"Shall we go inside and talk some theorys and maybe a little bit of tea." He smiled with a twinkle in his eye as he waited for her.

Lyndra

Date: 2007-07-19 15:41 EST
Likewise, she smiled and shrank down her size to half elven form and took his arm, letting him escort her in.

"Ye don't know how good some tea sounds right now."

Her smile broadened. She honestly had no clue what theories he was talking about, but whatever they were, she was all for it. A bit of a twinkle in her hazel green hues as a thought occured to her, noticing the twinkle in his.

"And why am I so hungry? Are ye as hungry too? Does changing like this make that happen? I'm like... starved out of my mind right now!" she laughed. "I could eat a horse..er.. something..."

She blushed.

"Uh.. Let's go in through the kitchen..."
