As five pm slowly gave way to six, Annabeth set the last dishes on a rather full buffet table. Pulled pork, chicken, and beef sat next to a large gravy boat of warm bbq sauce. Chicken and dumplings, cornbread, and soup beans congregated near each other in the center. An eggplant lasagna, mashed potatoes, assorted vegetables both hot and cold rounded things out, with the exception of the salad bar on the opposite wall of the dining room. Most of the sweets were in the kitchen still waiting until after dinner. Throughout the rest of the house, she had bowls and plates of snacks and appetizers strategically situated.
She?d spent most of the morning mopping, dusting, and arranging every room in the house except the kitchen. There was little reason to clean the kitchen before she started cooking, but she?d already swept the floor, and washed as many dishes as she could before she started setting up the buffet.
A chest of cold drinks rested near the dining room door leading toward the kitchen, where more were hiding if they were needed. She was about as ready as she?d ever be so she moved outside to wait on the porch.
Outside the walkway was lit with multi-colored paper lanterns, and both front porches were well lit. The lights of the house pierced the settling darkness while the temptations of home cooked food wrapped itself around passerby.
Smoke poured through the chimney visible beneath the light of both moons. The iron gate was open inviting guests to join in the merriment.
((OOC: This is open to any character that received an invitation from Annabeth. If you aren't sure, please feel free to PM me. If you know you didn't get an invite, but want to "crash" the party. PM me, and we can discuss it.))
