Given the apparent uproar caused by the Rhy'Din Vindicator being released, and Rob Mitchell doing his investigative reporting, I figured that it couldn't hurt to do my own 'press release' of sorts and explain things. I want it to be perfectly, crystal clear what my position on this is; it's not hard to see that it's needed at this point.

Fact the First: The only information used in the Vindicator comes from Playables (which are open) and live RP where my character or one of his sources is directly in attendance. Unlike the Oracle and the GangSTAR, we don't have orbs placed around to record the news. It's strictly by the books. The only time posts are being used is strictly, again, when our character is in attendance or when an informant or source gives us information. We log everything, too, so we can back up our information.

Just like a real paper.

Fact the Second: The name, the Rhy'Din Vindicator Chronicle comes from the Youngstown Vindicator Chronicle, before it was shortened. Originally, the paper in real life was dedicated to bringing honest, unbiased news to the common man. That's the aim here, as well. This is not the Oracle, where half of the reporters are often also the subjects (though, believe it or not, I do really enjoy that paper too!), nor is it a tabloid where you go for juicy gossip. This paper has been printed and published, and will continue to be, in serious journalistic standard.

It's a paper to represent the common people and to give them the truth.

Fact the Third: Random slaughter of NPCs is noteworthy. I know that it has become all too common to think of NPCs as something to up your character's personal kill count, but even as fantastical as Rhy'Din is, in no society whatsoever is it acceptable for over ten percent of a city's population to be wiped out in a month. Yes, the paper will report on this, yes, it will dig until it finds the cause (and anyone involved in said cause), because that's just how the IC world works. ICA=ICC. Period.


So, now you've got my position on it. We are all here on the site, we're all stuck with one another. What happens IC is what happens, and it's all in the open -- what happens OOC is not going to ever be crossed into IC, at least not by me.

All that being said, feel free to give your opinions here. Questions, comments, ideas, praise or flames; bring them on. This is all about freedom of press, and that applies to all.

If I recall correctly, you willingly played off of my character. I didn't hold a gun to your head, nor did I force you to go along with it.

Besides that, however, your trying to blacklist my character OOC is completely unacceptable. Roleplay is roleplay; I have done nothing to dig up dirt and the only character I have played thus far today in relation to the news has been Rob Mitchell -- every source I have gotten since then has been outside.

This is the last time I'm saying this: Thus far, Brian-mun, you have already harassed and threatened one of the muns involved and you are treading in very dangerous waters. I have kept this strictly IC, and you have not. I have the log to prove it, too, and will be entirely too glad to bring that to the attention of the site admins.

I have not harassed you. Anyone is welcome to play in the Red Dragon Inn; it is not YOUR private playground. And if my character walks in, the only way that you and yours will go unacknowledged is if they walk right out. You, nor anyone else, has any right to tell me how to play my characters -- so far as I know, unless I cross OOC lines (which I most firmly do not do, unlike yourself) I am free to play on this site. I haven't touched your personal folder, I haven't PMed or IMed you, and you have no call to harass me.

Am I perfectly clear here, Brian-mun? This is my playground too. Your character's public actions and what others say about him is fair game, along with the rest of the Ravenlock clan. You wanna change that, then think of a creative IC way to do so -- you will get NO WHERE attacking me OOC.

Please, don't turn this into a war. You're showing extremely poor form right now. Here's where you can make a decision -- conduct yourself properly as an adult and I'll forget this bad moment in your history, or this will inevitably become a war. I already have the moral high ground and logs to prove it.

And that's my say on the matter.

I would like to commend Vindicator for his logical reasoning on the matter. And I am deeply sorry for involving you in this.

Then at least give post a Playable, or give someone permission to, effectively retconning it? Hell, Nexus time hole for all I care! And I promise that my character, at least, will utterly not know why he's standing on Charlotte Ravenlock's doorstep, and he won't remember anything about any encounter about this. But I would dearly love an IC reason to forget this, and then Rob can concentrate on other stories.

This is not any sort of OOC vendetta.

Renna posted a playable. The point of playables is to get the community involved. It is absolutely unreasonable for you to expect people NOT to react to a rather big playable. It is also unreasonable for you to expect people to ask your OOC permission for every in character interaction in the rooms. And thats just what you said with your blanket statement about using the Ravenlocks in storylines.

Also. As to Briallyn's posts. YOU DO NOT CONTROL HOW I USE THE INFORMATION MY CHARACTER HAS. Even if your character was the original source of what little information she had.

And lastly stop with the profanity already.
