Shuffling through the financial records of her brothel, Jamie saw that business was good. And not just in the sense of material wealth, but in the immaterial?the gradual corruption of human souls. By providing Rhy'Din City with an avenue to explore its vices and lusts, she was ensuring herself a sizable collection in the future.

Replacing the books in a disorganized stack on the desk, Jamie stood from the chair and strode over to an open window. The night was a beautiful, clear one and the silver moon bore a similar shade to her pale silver gown. And one could have lost themselves by counting each of the stars that twinkled above.

Ah, if only Jade were around to share this moment with me, she thought with a small frown.

All peaceful it deceptively seemed, despite the web of corruption she had entangled throughout it. And among it was another evil?a familiar evil?boiling under the surface and awaiting to burst and unleash its thirst for bloodshed. She knew this other evil well, having run a few errands for it in the past from time to time under terms of a mutual pact. For a while, it had seemed to have utterly vanished from the city following a terrible storm, but now she sensed that it had returned.

How nice it would be to do business once again....

Several hours later, Jamie emerged from the portal in the manor's basement. It was presently set to one of the numerous layers of the Abyss. She had been there to consult with her agents if there had been any sign of her twin yet, but as usual the trail was cold. She truly wondered what had happened to her to seemingly disappear from the planes themselves.

Perish the thought that she wound up in the Far Realm, Jamie thought to herself with a shiver.

Glancing briefly around her basement, the gears in her mind continued turning. Then an idea came to her mind. Part of the pact that she held with the Bhaalites involved the search for Jade, and if the murmurings she's heard both here on the Prime Material and just now on the Abyss were any sign, they were indeed quite active once more. Word in the Abyss was that the ancient war between the two gods, Bhaal and Scathach, was intensifying yet again.

Yes, perhaps I should pay a visit to the old IronHelm Flats, she thought with a smirk.

As she soared through the air, the moonlight cast her shadow along the rooftops of the buildings below. It was just now as she crossed over the river that the foreboding building came into view. A small smile creeping across her lips, she flapped her membranous wings to hasten her flight. While the architecture was dreary, if she had not known the Bhaalites personally, she would have possibly overlooked it as it did seem to fit in appropriately with the already run down appearance of the West End.

Nevertheless, there was now no mistaking the power that she sensed from the IronHelm Flats. It oozed with eldritch power, whispering secrets of ancient evils best left uncontemplated. Regardless, she ignored these subconscious warnings, herself being a vessel of great evil in her own right. Angling her wings, she dove toward the old building.

She landed before its great doors and scoped out the area around her. There had indeed been activity around here recently, and it permeated with great and terrible darkness. She turned to face the twin doors that blocked access into the vile building and strode toward them in strong confidence of her being. Once she topped the short flight of steps and reached the doors, she lifted one of her claws to the knocker and gave it three strong knocks which would echo throughout the halls beyond.

Then she waited.

She waited for quite some time.

But her patience was soon running out. Did she not knock loud enough? Frowning, she took a few steps back and examined the building's worn down exterior. While obviously it looked abandoned, she knew better. The Cult of Bhaal made this their headquarters within this city. So what took so long for a response?

Desiring not to linger outside for much longer, she waved a clawed hand at the doors. In response, the great gates opened to her command and admitted access to within. And so with self-assured confidence, she set foot into the IronHelm flats and traversed its hallways.

There was great power coursing through this building, the power of a god. She could feel its vibrations emanating from the walls. The dull thrum was almost intoxicating. Moving deeper within, she let herself bask within its radiance. If anyone from the cult was here presently, they'd find her in due time.

Far behind her, the doors closed shut.

Jamie had wandered the empty halls for what seemed like an eternity. Through winding passages and up and down arching stairways, the red-skinned demoness did not find a single soul that stirred. Was it possible that she arrived at a time when everyone was out somewhere else?

It was indeed possible. She had to remind herself that these Bhaalites worked in cells and thus formed small groups that only met to discuss business. Jamie herself was so used to being surrounded by her demons and girls to ever consider a building this large being so empty for most of the time.

Nevertheless, she felt that she needed to get in contact with at least one of them to discuss the favors they owed her. After all, she scratched their back a few times, it was only fair that they scratch hers. She wandered the hallways for a bit longer, passing a myriad of empty rooms where webs and dust were collecting.

Eventually she found a room that was maintained better than the rest with numerous iconography that suggested that this building was a place of worship to Bhaal but never explicitly stated it. There was a chair near the center of that room which she quickly chose to sit in and relax her legs. Folding her red, membranous wings around herself, she waited.

She was sure someone from the Bhaalites would show up. It was only a matter of time....
