Daved & Aster were searching for a tree whose lore had been lost many years before. The tree was told to have magical qualities that's regents would increase the potency of the most common of potions. As they got there they discovered not only was the tree sentient but it also had been growing veins to take over a portion of the Glen. Vines secretion an acidic base and would cause an infection taking over one's body.

Discovering this the two retreated and plan on coming back with a party to investigate further and ward off that section of the glen to unlucky travellers.

serendipitous: Aster was not the type who commonly sat around doing nothing. Instead, she was the type who walked around exploring things. After some research in the library, the woman found some information that could be useful for a certain plant. According to the map, which was out of date and not cartigraphed correctly, it was somewhere in the glen. Thus her walking around, looking at the map, then trying to find landmarks written here. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Daved caught her scent, and decides to follow her. " You know, why use an old map when you have a friend with keener eyes and a good nose ? " Grinning,he walks up to her, and stays by her side. Oddly,he does not greet her with a hug or a kiss or anything. Wearing a warm cloak, his axe is belted at his waist,as keen eyes keep a sharp eye out. (end)
=== Southern Glen: 2016-01-08 19:00:00 EST ===
serendipitous: Because he didn't greet her with a hug or kiss doesn't mean she wouldn't hug him. In fact she wrapped an arm around him all smiles as usual. “Good after noon Mister Daved. I was hoping to find you here.” Kiss to his cheek to boot. “The thing is I'm trying to see if my old map here is correct. So far it is not.” ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Frowning he plucks it out on her hand, closely reads it then laughs. " No wonder, see the date on it ? " He hands it back to her, the watermark days 1807. " Like I said, make your own map if you choose to explore. Do you have cartography skills ? If you do, make your own map." (end)
serendipitous: Plucking of the map had her shifting weight on her heel then bumping a hip into him. Burying her face into her leather jacket, she smirked some before answering. “I have no skills in that but I do have a good memory and can draw. I'm thinking it could be a base.” Suggested with a shrug a hand coming out, palm up, for him to hold. “Come on. Help me find it.” Sniffled slightly sound of runny nose evident as she did. “I'm looking for a tree.” In a forest. Great description Aster. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Backs away from her, making a face. " Do you have a cold ? If so, stay away from me, far away. No holding hands, hugging or kissing, okay ? " He shoves his hands in his pocket. " Care to tell me what this tree looks like and what species it is ? " He grins now, amused. (end)
serendipitous: Face made back at him. “I do not have a cold. It's a reaction for some specialized gun powders I made this morning.” Frowned some. “Is everything all right? You don't seem as…” paused tyring to think about it. “Friendly as normal?” Question about the tree had her pointing towards the scrubs in the distance. “I'm not sure what it looks like. I do know there is a set of vines that grow out from it. I can feel it's near by.. “ He might be able to smell light decaying of flesh too. (End)
Daved Hanlon: Nods. " I'm okay, just toning it back between us is all hun. I think it better that way. " When shre points thattaway, his nose crinkle and he starts to growl and gag. " Gods, what is that disgusting smell ? It smells like rotten meat. Why in the abyss would any sane person want to head that way ? " (end)
serendipitous: “Is there a reason for that?” The woman questioned him starting on the trail. They could see the veins she was speaking of amongst the other trees. Shady glooms of the forest had multiple corpses of the small beast that seemed to have died and froze in place along them. His question was a rather valid one to which she gave an honest reply. “Two reasons. I need some of it for a potion. The tree grows a certain fruit that is supposed to be very sweet. The second is I want a clipping for
serendipitous: my home." ( end )
Daved Hanlon: With reluctance,he follows her. " Yes, I need to tone it down because I'm sexually attracted to you and that isn't proper. " As they get nearer, the hackles on the back of his neck raise. " I've seen this isease in the Blight when the Dark One escaped the seals. This isn't healthy or right, but you know your affairs. " As she gets closer to the dead beast and the vines, he starts growling. (end)
serendipitous: “How is it not proper?” A brow lifted this was an interesting question. Bow was removed from around her thin frame one of her blessed arrows coming from it's quiver. He could note it was a different type than the one she showed him yesterday this one wouldn't explode. As she got closer to the vines he could see the set of them moving slightly. One of the tendrils lifted from the tree as if the vein was alive and watching them. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: " Because. " Staepping in front of her,Daved goes to heck off a piece of the vine with his sharp axe. " Because you do not want such intimacy and because I have two mates and you and I are travel comrades and friends ? " (end)
Daved Hanlon: (heck=hack)
serendipitous: The statement caused her to stop in her tracks a moment before lowering her voice almost afraid of someone hearing her. “That,” cleared her throat turning herself to look up at him, “isn't entirely true.” A blush rose along her cheek holding her arrow at ready as she caught sight of the vine. “I am afraid of intimacy. Something happened to me long time ago that has offput to me reltionships.” ( End )
Daved Hanlon: Nodding,he slashes the wine into several pieces, hands them to her. " Here's your nasty clippings and samples. " Shrugging,he lets her comment pass.Sex or not she is still his friend. " Need anything else Aster ? " His golden eyes remain on hers, then look about, keeping an eye out for danger. (end(
serendipitous: Something about the exchange right then caused her voice to catch in her throat. Turning her head away from him, she closed her eyes for a moment. It stung her and emotions were hard for her to hide. Saphire tones her eyes seemed cloudy, the smile faded, and she seemed to have a tremble in her vocals. “No, that… I can do the rest on my own Mister Daved.” Arrow was released into one of the trees.. faintly as if in the distance they could hear a scream coming from deeper in the forest.( end )
Daved Hanlon: Frowning, he makes a face again. " Listen, if I offended you I'm sorry, okay hun ? I lack certain social graces, just ask Raealla. Gently,he tries to gather her in his strong arms, kiss her full on her lips. " I'm sorry for offending you Aster. I like you a lot and want us to be good friends. "
Daved Hanlon: (end)
serendipitous: “No, it is fine Daved. You are right.” She kissed him on his cheek back then shook her head. Attention fell to the path ahead of them. In the distance, she saw something quiet.. unique. As before the vines from the plants seemingly shook around the gloomy forest but a tangle of them was headed their way. It seemed between the two of them detaching parts for samples they somehow pissed off the tree. “Daved?” Calmly stated looking past him. “I do hope you are handy with that axe.” One of
serendipitous: the vines quickly wrapped itself around her ankle pulling her onto the ground in the process towards it's base. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Daved walks by her side, acting as her guardian. And as the vine grasps her by her ankle and pulls her closer,he calmly crouches down, grasps the vine with one hand and hacks her free of it's grasp. " It seems to be sentient. I've never seen anything quiet like it. " Her friend helps her back to her feet, gripping her by her hand. " This is a new development to the glen and I think Rae may want to know about this. "(end)
serendipitous: She wouldn't scream or struggle, even as the thing wrapped her ankle she stayed calm. Deep breath even as he chopped onto the vines removing her from it. Distance of screams happened again indeed Daved's thought of the tree becoming sentient had been true. Frame came back a few feet once her ankle was free trying her best not to get snagged again. “I did promise you adventures. Let's see what else it holds.” Fearless and stupid as ever Aster started following the veins back towards the tre
Daved Hanlon: Shaking his head,Daved grasps her by her arm, pulls her back. " Let's get one thing straigh, okay ? I'm the warrior and I take the lead, okay ? " He keeps her behind him, as her big wolf man ges on point, axe in hand. He starts snigging, catching a scent as he follows the vine to it's source.(end)
Daved Hanlon: (sniffing)
=== Southern Glen: 2016-01-08 20:00:00 EST ===
serendipitous: Laughing softly as he grasped her arm he pat her hand with a smile. “What's the point of being immortal if I can't be dumb and run head first into danger once in a while?” At least, she seemed to be in a better mood with that. With him in the lead, he followed behind him bow at the ready. As they got closer towards the heart of the trees they could see several animals that had succumbed to the deadly veins. Even a corpse of a stray adventure or two laid in the clutches. The stench, death,
serendipitous: disease, poison, hung in the air in a way that couldn't shake from them. In the center of this particular patch they could see several humanoid bodies that seemed to be hung off of this tree. It seemed the tree's spirits and sentience were related to the death of those corpses. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Snarls. " Even immortals can die you foolish woman. " The scent of death and poison makes him retch and growl even more. With cautionhe approaches the treewary eyes keeping an eye out for more vines. " This is nasty, we ought to tear it out or lop it out by it's roots. " Getting closer,he raises his axe, intent on chopping the tree down. (end)
serendipitous: “I never said I couldn't die.” Finger up as she made her point still holding tigt to the bolt. “I just said I'm harder to kill. Not all of us can be big and bad like you.” Teased him as they came closer. The view of the tree had her taking a breath. Tall, big around, and set in the middle of the clump of trees. “Wait!” Said as he lifted it's axe. “We shouldn't kill it. It has as much right to live as we do. To the cow men seems like murders – holding them captive and killing them
serendipitous: when they become fat enough..” Voice lowered with that one looking at the tree.As if to prove Aster a softy one of the veins shot forward to Daved. The long cord tightened around the axe and the hands of the man trying to pull him into it. Now Daved could feel just what those vines did to unprotected flesh (if he didn't have on gloves or long sleeves). It started to wrap along him and bite into his skin with a mixture of acids and thorns. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: He cries out in pain, dropping the axe. In such pain,he starts to shift, becoming a huge direwolf with his human clothing hanging off him. Large fangs bite at the vine, tear into it and if he succeeds,he'll run away, yowling in pain. He leaves bits of his clothing behind him as he runs away from the tree. In his wolf form all he feels his rage and pain and he needs to hide out and tend to his wounds. (end)
serendipitous: Warrior down! Warrior down! The crying out in pain and the way he reacted had the woman steading her shot. His change, the mouth on veins, and all did rip the set for them. Aster cursed to herself under breath in a very unladylike fashion! Daved running turned something in on her head to not do this alone and she started after him. Having been in a situation where escape and the like was needed Aster could run and (sort of) fight. Arrow was left for disregard in the forest floor the bow
serendipitous: swung around her neck. Quiver strap, which had several bottles attached to them, were being pulled. First one grasped was a mist cloak potion. As they ran the woman dropped the bottle to the ground. On contact, the bottle exploded a fog quickly coming from their point and out flooding the entire glen in thick fog. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Fog or not, this wolf can find his home quickly by scent alone ! To hell with the fog ! Darting around trees and over hills and through bushes,he is at full pelt, clothes left behind him. When he gets to the cave, he snarls, retreats to the side room. Shifting back to human form, he grabs a first aid kit and tends to his wounds. Whethere Aster returns or not, his mood is such that once he patches himself up, he'll head back in search of her. (end)
serendipitous: It took her some time to find her way. Most of which was making sure she was out of the trees grasp. Counting her steps she knew how far into the fog she should be. From one of her pockets she brings out another thing, a crystal that glew brighter than any torch he may hope to find. Worried about her friend more than her she was making her way back to his cave thinking he may have went there. So much for sticking together! ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Daved feels guilt and he hastly tends to the acid burn. Then he dons leather armour and long sleeves and gloves. Belted war hammer at his waist,he heads back out, calling out for his friend. " Aster ? " He tries to catch her scent, but scents are mixed now and confusing him. He heads back down the trail, towards the fog. (end)
serendipitous: Ha ha! Good! He left the adventure area! He SHOULD be guilty! She was making it on her own however. Hearing her name off in the distance the woman stood still a moment. It took a minute to try to check the signature of his body to make sure it wasn't a trick. “I'm here!” Called back to him heading towards the voice. ( End )
= Corwin Shadowkill has entered the room =
Daved Hanlon: Daved rushes in her direction, the fog thick. Once or twice she hears him curse as he stumbles over a rock or a root. When he finds her,he takes her in his arms, checks her from head to toe. " I'm sorry for deserting you, are you okay love ? I suppose my wolf took over me and I didn't protect myself well enough. But I'm ready to eplore again,if you are ? " He seems both contrite and worried. (end)
serendipitous: Rushing himself in a fog like this was a bad thing! She kept standing there a moment hearing his footsteps. “Don't rush yourself,” suggested. When he came there and looked her over he would find she was relativly unscaved. Only the small burn on her ankle remained but she was getting healed slowly on her own. “For the record,” finger came up to boop his nose. “Don't run. I can not heal you or fight right if you run.” ( end )

Daved Hanlon: Blinking,he starts to laugh. " Sorry, been a while since I've dealt with acid spewing trees, okay ? " Hugging her again,he steps back. " So what now Aster ? Those beings and creatures that the tree slew, did they deserve such a fate ? I never did see if they were orcs or hunters or whatever. At the least we should cordon off or ward that area. " (end)
serendipitous: “Acid spewing?” Expression changed on her face teasing him. “It was secretion it now spewing it.” Elbow into his side looking around. Fog, she knew, would be thick for the rest of the night. “We can ward it off and deal with it tomorrow. I,” roll of hand motioning around them, “I covered us from being spotted more by it. The fog will last a few hours.” Biting her lip she teased him. “maybe next time I should lead so you don't run me over on your way out the door.” ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Snorts. " Whatever, okay ? I took the brunt of it, not you. " When she teases him,he nudges her back and sticks his tongue out at her. " What, you big baby, lose your taste of risk and danger ? " (end)
serendipitous: Smirk shaking her head. “No, I just think the fog will put us at a disadvtage. Unless you want to risk it.” Was he still naked? “I have confidence I can stand my own ground.” ( end )
Daved Hanlon: No,he changed into clothes again. " Your disadvantage, not mine. I use my other four senses, immortal. " Slowly,he heads back through the fog, cautious and using his sharp eyes and sharper nose. He falls quiet, all business now.(end)
serendipitous: “Oh now look whose got jokes.” Laughing she would follow behind him. “You need me to look at your wounds? I am a healer..” Even if she was one of the types of healers most did not like – White necromancer. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Shakes his shaggy head. " I tended to them, save your energy. " Again he falls silent. Noe and then he goes one bended knee, sniffing at the ground or even tasting it,using fingertip to tongue. He spits out the earth, hating how unhealthy everything is. Whatever caused this has to be cleansed as it isn't natural. He\s bound to kill it,burn it to the ground. (end)
serendipitous: “Next time let me do my part of the job.” Suggested to him as she followed along. As he went silent she did as well. The crystal was looped back to her neck allowing it to rest and keep them light. Arrow was notched again this time at the ready. The two of them came close enough to the tree that the scent of decay was stronger. Having entered a separate way they found something new to play with – Bears. It wasn't every day normal bears this one was dead long ago by the tree. Where skin
serendipitous: was torn apart they wound find veins under it that had filled up their body like it was nothing more than sack of leather. Bears, spotting host to ‘infect' with their plague, started for the two of them. Lunch! ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Sighing,he shakes his head, clearly sad and of ill ease. Golden eyes turn to regard Aster. " Can you wield fire ? " He takes a step back,in guard position . If one of these so called bears attacks him,he'll cave it's skull in with his warhammer. " Try and burn the other one and while we're at it, burn that damned plant, root and leaf. " (end)
serendipitous: “I can. Let me grab a different arrow.” By now he would have figured out the weapons she used primarily was that of her bow and arrow. Normal one was replaced by one of her explosive arrows. “If we can disable them I do have an accelerant in my bags to dump on it.” Knotching her arrow she watched his movements and the bears.Unlike them, bears would not wait for someone to take them down. One of them came quickly forward lunging at the wolf. Maw was opened, it half hanging off at this
serendipitous: point, but it seemed that wasn't its goal. As they came closer they would see the secretion spewing from it's mouth, thick and black, with small seeds inside to infect their party. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: That only serves to piss off Daved even more and no way is he planning on becoming a host to this parasite ! Instead he takes two steps back and lets Aster do her thing with her new arrow. It's apparent that hee can't really do much in this situation. (end)
serendipitous: “Chop it up!” He total can smash the things to bits! Aster couldn't take it down with an arrow unless it was going down before. This was apparent as she let the arrow fly forward striking it's chest. The weighted end flew forward striking the small bottle on the end to ignite it. This one wasn't one of her wand arrows meaning it caught fire naturally. Since the creatures still provided moisture the plants were lush and green inside. It was going to be a long burn!“Shit,” whispered
serendipitous: under her breath. The blonde would step back some as she took the next arrow. Bears came forward one chasing Daved. “Oh! Cut it up! Pretends it's grass and your axe is the lawn mower!” Was that a joke in the face of danger? Yes.. it was. ( end )
Daved Hanlon: Cries out. " The damned plant took my frigging axe. All I have is my hammer ! " Snaring in rage,he rushes towards the damned tree, acting out of sheer desperation. He hammers and batters at the trunk and roots. If he ends up getting infected, he plans on coming back as a zombie Daved and attacking Aster ! (end)
serendipitous: Wait, wait! What! She didn't notice because of the fog. It did get in her head maybe he could use HER sword. Pulling it from her quiver she tossed it to him. Mind you on HER it was a long sword but she was five feet tall. The blade was two and a half feet long. Daved's dick was basically bigger than it was!“All I got!” It was better than nothing. Daved's hammer was doing the trick. Even if he couldn't cut through the vines he could smash bones making it difficult for the things to
serendipitous: walk. One of the bear's went down and with another few arrows it was light on fire. Aster turned to the second lighting it up now! ( end )
Daved Hanlon: lol
Daved Hanlon: He doesn't have time to use her sword, okay ? He's too busy laying a beatdown on zombie bears and parasite trees ! Snap and cruch goes bones and bark. He may get turned into zombie Daved but he sure as hell isn't going down without a fight ! (end)
serendipitous: It's fine he might not see it since it's basically a dagger for him. Daved gave them the beat down and Aster caught them on fire. Soon she was rushing forward with some bottles (whiskey) which she proceeded to dump onto them. The bear plants caught quickly on fire burning down in front of them. She stood there watching them for a moment then offered the whiskey to him. “Wash your hads with it.” Don't worry she wouldn't let him turn into a zombie unless he leaves her for dead again. (end)
Daved Hanlon: Nodding,he pours the alcohol on his hands, ridding the skin of the spores. With a grunt,he watches the tree/p,ant and bears burn down to ashes. Taking a few steps back, his demeanour is calm, cool. This is him as a battle leadwr again, reliving past events. She may tell that he seems distant adn distracted, mentally.
Daved Hanlon: (end)
serendipitous: They stood there in silence a moment as the two of them watched the bears burning. Fog was still thick and she knew they were a target in the open like this. Hands came around her neck to pull a small cross from around it fingers enclosing it within her palm. A prayer was spoken for the bears. ( end )
=== Southern Glen: 2016-01-08 22:00:00 EST ===
Daved Hanlon: Without a word,Daved brushes past her and heads in the direction they came from. He gives her a backwards glance, motions her to follow. He heads away from the killing zone, wanting out of this clammy fog and scene of carnage. He hitches tha hammer over a broad shoulder, as he whistle a tune under his breath. It's an old marching song his men used to sing when on the march. (end)
