She had meant to tell Brian about Lucy the night before, she really had. Of course, that was before she got heavily intoxicated and caught up in the faerie wine that served as an aphrodisiac for her.

Now, she had been putting it off all morning and afternoon. She had left the house with the intent of finding her brother and telling him immediately. Instead, she had spent over an hour with Toby at the Inn, drinking that wine again to forget how heavy her heart felt for a little while.

There was no more avoiding the duty now. She left the Inn and directed her steps to her brother's office without letting herself get sidetracked. He deserved to know what had happened with Lucy as soon as possible, and then maybe she wouldn't have to feel so alone in carrying this burden.

Brian felt it.. He knew something was amiss, and felt it deeply.. He had heard that voice.. His voice.. A voice Brian had not openly heard in a very long time. It cried out for release, it cried out for assistance, it simply cried. Brian had never heard Darkin speak with such a tone, never in the years he had carried that thing deep within his being, never when it 'suggested' things, never when he openly gave himself to it, and not even when Jewell had sealed his last physical tie to this very realm. This was something different..

In the dead of the night, Brian awoke with a scream. His own scream, as blue eyes darted about the darkness trying to regain himself, the pull so evident, as he felt the bile come to bear and ended up in a deat heated rush towards the bathroom, knocking anything in his way aside as he nearly crashed through the door, fell to his knees.. his head hung over the toilet, and simply threw up, letting it all out. Fits of coughs took hold a bit, as he continued his wretching. After a bit of time and a series of flushes, Brian rose to his feet slowly and washed his face repeatedly. His head lifted slowly, dark locks of his name sake scattered about his face, still fresh with droplets of water. His eyes narrowed as he stared into the mirror, he remained there for a few moments, how long he had no clue.. But he felt trapped, as he could not pull his gaze from himself. Suddenly, the darkness came alive in a series of violent flashes..

Visions flashed here and there in his mind, flashes to the Kher Ridges.. To such cruel acts long since forgotten, to his anger with his own family that was unfounded, jealously, rage, fear... regret.. Within all that there was regret, and he could not see where it had come from.. In his heart he left it all behind, and moved ahead, but then again here it was.. Sadness, joined the dance of emotion and then was tossed aside by happiness? Yes, happiness.. Brian blinked and looked around the bathroom once more once more, his eyes searching as he swore he heard something within all of it.. A voice, a child's voice.

"H..Hello?" Brian had asked.. His voice but a whisper, as his eyes searched the darkness..

Nothing.. Save the laughter again, this time louder.. Shivers took hold of his body, as Brian felt something brush his hand.. Sharply he turned towards whatever it was, to find.. A wheelchair.. A simple wheel chair. His eyes widened as he realized what it was.. Brian mind was processing as best as it could, and it did not feel good whatsoever.. Turning to the mirror once more, Brian felt.. Tendrils, wrap about his hands. He fought and fought, and could not break the hold as he looked back into the mirror, his eyes no longer settled on his own visage.. Instead it was that of his own daughter. Lucy.

"Lu! Lucy! Baby, what is this! Talk to me, tell me something! Let me help you! I nee--"

Brian was cut off, with that simple sound.. Some how it comforted him a bit, yet the fear and confusion were still evident.. His eyes closed a moment, and opened once more, as he was looking into the mirror once more, and this time his own face fill with confusion was accompained by the face of his daughter whom he had thought lost to them all.. Little did he know.

"Shhhhh... It's done.. I love you Daddy. You are free. finally. So, shhhh.."

"Luu! No, what do you mean.. Free, no.. I don't want to be free from you.. Lucy, I love you.. We love you. Come back to us.. Don't leave us.. Don't leave me again! Please Lucy! Pl-- Wha? No, not again, NO! NO! Not again!"

This had been followed by a primal scream of pure pain, as Brian felt something pierce his back.. The pain was horrid, as he screamed and fought tooth and nail to break the tendrils, the last time he felt this was when Ren had pierced him looking for whatever was left of Darkin, before that was when Lucy herself stripped the majority of Darkin from Brian nearly a year back, and each time was as horrible as the last! Brian screamed and screamed.. His eyes clenched shut, as his head hung low his voice gving out, yet still screamed in his mind.. Then just like that he was snapped out of it.. The pain still evident.. But now, it seemed bearable.. And actually lessened with time.

A featherlight caress of his cheek brought his eyes opened, as he looked into the eyes of his girl.. A girl he and Charlotte had taken in, a girl that was fated to suffer so much, and did just that.. Brian didn't care what she had done, he didn't care what others said.. She was Lucy Ravenlock, and she was theirs. His eyes softened, as she laced his cheek with but a kiss and simply nodded and then backed away slowly.. Brian had to blink a few times, as next to her appeared.. A child.. A small child. A boy.

"It seems this is the last time we shall speak, Brian Ravenlock. I did not imagine it would end this way, you humans and more so still yet surprise me.. It seems I was not prepared for what was to come, then again maybe I was. You are free now, child of anger. This one next to me, loved you that much. So much I do not think your mortal mind could ever comprehend. I will tell you what she cannot. This will be the last time you see us.. To where we go, I know not. But I know I have no regrets.. Living within a vessel such as this one, and being divided among you the way I was..

It showed me things. Perhaps humanity is not as pathetic as I once thought. Or perhaps it is the reflections of a person facing an imminent death. In any event, Ranger.. we are done here. She has done what she wished to do, and as I am no longer bound to you, and she and I are fated to something else entirely, we take our leave. You needn't look over your shoulder anymore, Brian Ravenlock. The spirit of Anger, and the Scourge of Planes, has finally let you be. You can thank your little one here, because she loved you so."

No other words were said by what seemed to be Darkin himself.. Brian had never seen him that way, and stood there stunned, as tendrils released his arms, the one that pierced his back had vanished, leaving a slightly warm feeling in it's wake, as Lucy and Darkin faded into the darkness once more. Brian watched them for a few moments, then sank to his knees, wrapping his arms about himself.. There he sat, devoid of voice, rocking himself gently back and forth.. He felt it was true.. He felt this void.. It was evident, as he sat there.. Recalling Ren's words a time ago, Brian knew what this was.. This was indeed a goodbye.. Tears came forth, as cried on the floor.. Then, it finally came to a head.. Brian lifted his head and simply cried out in such frustration, as the room crashed around him!

"Don't go! Don--"

The next thing he recalled, was crashing to the floor with a thud. Brian's eyes opened widely, as he looked around the loft once more, his night vision seemingly returned, as he sat there.. A muffled voice from the bed snapped him back to the here and now, as he looked and noticed Jenai alseep, and Tiki at the foot of their bed. The cat offering a strange look to him, then curling once more. A hand lifted to his face, as Brian rose to his feet.. The sweat evident on his brow, and cheeks as he regained himself and began to breathe calmly once more. 'The Bathroom!' he thought to himself, as he dashed over and through the door, the light switched on and.. Nothing. It was just as it was when he cleaned it earlier that previous day.

Brian sat there confused.. Still, he felt something.. An emptiness.. he understood, this was not just a simple nightmare.. So there and there he called for it.. For him, for whatever he could muster.. For any remnant of the bond between he, Ren and Lu.. Nothing. He had nothing, not a damnd thing.. He needed air, he needed to walk.. Dressing once more, and with Tyrsis in hand, Brian left the loft and wandered. So many thoughts came to pass, so many questions.. He knew. They were truly gone, and while part of him was thankful Darkin was gone, so much of him ached for the fact that Lucy herself was gone to.. Not to mention what might have become of Renna, as the two were tied... Brian walked and pondered.. Not knowing how much time passed.

Day came finally, and found Brian settled in his office.. No words offered, as the staff were given the day off, the door was unlocked, as the Elder Ravenlock simply sat at a desk staring a bit, at the last gift he had ever recieved from Lucy and Ren.. A Family picture given to him, just this past Holiday...

She paused before entering his office, suddenly conscious of what state her hands were in. She had forgotten about them, again; an amazingly hard feat considering what a bloody mess they were even after she had cleaned them up. Oh well, nothing to be done about that now! She tucked them back into the pockets of her coat--knowing it was a futile gesture as she'd forget about them in minutes and start gesturing--before entering.

The lack of people around caught her off guard, but she didn't really mind because it meant less people to explain to if her conversation with Brian became too loud. However, when she stepped into his office and saw his face she realized that perhaps there may be no need for conversation after all.

She stood in the doorway, feeling some of the weight of what she thought she had to tell Brian ease up, "You already know..." It wasn't really a question, just a statement as she slumped back against the door, incidentally closing it.

"You already know..."

Brian knew... He had known since the previous night. He sensed Jewell's approach, and heard her enter the office, he felt her heavied heart as well.. They were siblings afterall. He also understood, that by a glance she could read him like an open book.

Tired eyes remained fixed upon that picture of Ren, Lucy and Che'reen. A soft sigh escaped his lips, as he nodded in reply. Setting the picture down once more, Brian looked up to Jewell.. His eyes showing nearly every bit of the effects of the previous night had upon him. He tried to smile for her, gods know he truly did. But in the end, he couldn't. Not just yet. With a soft voice, Brian finally spoke.

"I know.. I've known since last night. She is gone, Jewell.. Really gone this time." another sigh escaped his lips as a hand ran through the dark locks of his namesake, while his head shook a bit. "It seems like it was yesterday, I had buried Ren and took Lucy into our home.. Into our family.. And then we all took her in as one of our own, for all the good and the bad. I know she was twisted, I know she suffered and hurt others.. But she was still our girl.. Our girl. I was supposed look after her, and... Despite all I did, all my failings she loved me, and still called me 'daddy'. It isn't fair, Jewell. She deserved a chance to be free for herself."

A soft sound could be heard, as Brian's head lowered once more. It was the sound of tears falling, and striking the desk. He quited once more and just sat there, letting them fall. After a bit of time, Brian breathed in deeply, wiping his eyes slowly and then looked to Jewell once more.

"She came to me last night, in a dream.. Said it was done, and I was free. She wasn't alone. Darkin was with her, Jewell.. He spoke to me, said I was free because Lucy loved me so. Said he was leaving with her, and that would be the last time I saw either of them, and I felt it. I truly feel it, this void.. I know we said we'd never do this, and I know maybe it isn't right. But I need to know and sitting here depressed won't help. Sis, please take me to the glade. I need to see the glove again, I need to see if he was right, and it finally is over. I know it is a selfish request.. But. Please?"

Brian sat there, looking to the Empress. His eyes pleading to her on every level, as he awaited an answer.

It pained her to see her brother this way, mourning and crying for Lucy. However, she couldn't stand and be a source of comfort for him, not on this matter, not yet.

She had indeed taken Lucy for one of their own, as her niece. Once someone had Jewell's love, they would be hard pressed to extract themselves from her. That Lucy was dead in no way effected the way Jewell felt about her and her position in the family--Lucy was one of them, dead or alive.

She let him cry, lowering her own red-rimmed eyes to the ground. She had shed her tears earlier and would not further burden her brother by doing so again.

She only looked up to him again at his request, lips pressed tightly together. Thinking it over for a moment, she shook her head and sighed, "I will take you there...but I don't think it will do you any good. It is over Brian, for good, but I will not deny your request and need to see that with your own eyes. Come on."

With a nod towards the door, she turned and reopened it. She was not pleased with having to do this, even for her brother; she could have happily gone the rest of her life without seeing that glove even if Darkin was gone.

"I will take you there...but I don't think it will do you any good. It is over Brian, for good, but I will not deny your request and need to see that with your own eyes. Come on."

Brian remained where he was a moment, and then looked to Jewell.. It has never occured to him how selfish his request was, how foolish it was, and honestly how stupid it was until he heard her voice, and more so, felt it.

He felt it deep within, when the Empress spoke. Her meaning was far more than the spoken words, and he read it loud and clear. Ever the clarity that was Jewell Ravenlock in Brian's life, then and more so now. So he sucked it up, and set it aside. Being this way was not going to bring any of them back, and it would not help those who remained.

Rising from his seat, Brian offered an apologetic look to his sister, and moved towards her. Gently, he wrapped an arm around her and kissed her head.. Just a quick kiss, and gentle squeeze, as he remained there for a moment and spoke.

"I am sorry.. I don't need this, and more so we don't need this. It was selfish of me to even ask that, and I won't do so again.. I know what I saw, I feel it here. I had no right to ask that of you, not with all the trouble, it and I caused for us all. I'm done cryin, and am sorry ya had to see me like this. I see you did too.. I know she wasn't perfect, none of us were or are. But she was ours. For however brief of a time we had her."

Brian released her and moved back to the desk, and took the picture in hand, and kissed it quicky, and set it back down to the desk once more. A nod offered to Jewell, as he moved to her once more and took hold of the door for her, with a faint smile.

"Is there anyone else we need to inform? Does Charlotte know?"
