Laying beside his beloved in bed, Brian smiled lovingly, and offered a kiss to that tumble of flame kissed red he adored. A soft mumble escaped Jenai's lips, as she reached over and took his hand into her own, and once more drifted deeply her slumber.

Shifting himself a bit, Brian lay flat on his back, his hand in hers still, as he watched the stars overhead courtesy of one beautiful sky light, that was positioned over their bed. The time unknown, all that was known is that it was rather late, and Brian could not sleep. His mind raced with a great many things, ever since Jenai has relayed she was with their child.

Fatherhood.. Such a powerful word. Well to those who understood, or those who were preparing to face it head on. Father.. Someone looked up to, someone depended upon for so many things. Strength. A pillar when need be, and just as quickly and in an instant a pillow for a sleepy lil head. Sacrifice in the most literal of senses, always thinking of them instead of yourself, first and foremost. So much more, than words could never do it justice by any means. Example only, could showcase just how powerful that word truly was.

Brian had been down that path twice before, the first time had not ended as he wished.. Lucy Ravenlock.. 'Daughter' of Brian and Ren. Daughter in spirit, and in all honestly physical nature as well, seeing that the child was the culminaton of what she had stripped from Brian's being, and what Ren had already instilled from herself.

Granted what was taken from Brian was done so against his will, Brian did not turn the girl away. Still as a father he failed her in many ways. Still the girl loved him and still called him father, and for the all the troubles that came their ways, through the despair, pain and hardships endured, through the regret and love, and ultimately death, Brian loved the girl, Lucy and she him. Father in the loosest of sense in some ways, but a father none the less.

Elena Isuelt.. A child born of chance, and a blessing in every way possible. A child who was born despite being bombarded with radiations, and medicines while inside the womb. A child who survived a beating her mother recieved via her very own sister, again while she was still in the womb and more so. A child who by all accounts never should have lived to see her first day outside the womb, yet she lives and breathes this very day and is a beautiful child who lives each day to it's fullest.

A child of chance, and a wonderous joy to all those who are fortunate enough to be near her. Considered by many to be the only good thing to come from the union between Brian and Charlotte, Elena is a true gem. All that aside, Brian has not been there for her like he should have been. The distance between them from plane to plane, time and space, variations where weeks in one realm were literal months in another,

Elena and Brian are not nearly as close as a father and daughter should be. Still he is where when he can be and loves the little girl to no end, and for the moment that will have to suffice.

A father in spirit.. A father in word, to some extent. But truly a father? Given what had happened the first two times, one might think that he would be foolish to want another child. One might think.. But like with many things people think in regards to Brian, they would be dead wrong. Brian wanted this child more that life itself..

A child born of a fierce love he shared with Jenai, a child they had eached hoped for soon would have in their own arms. A life dependant upon each of them, a new chapter begun in their lives. A family. This of course raised many questions and concerns. As Brian lay beside his beloved, his thoughts drifted back and forth as he lost himself somewhat.

His life, was no longer his. Well not in the literal sense of things. But it was true to an extent, as he no longer would be living his life for himself soley. Granted that had changed when he bound himself to Jenai, and she to him. His life was hers, and hers was his. But now their lives belonged to someone else in turn, and would do so until that someone was able to stand upon their own two legs and begin their own chapter in life, leaving mother and father for whatever lay beyond. So to the matter at hand.. Given everything Brian was deeply involved in, changes would have to be made.

No more could he afford to simply run off and adventure, to return days or weeks later. No more could he simply let himself be spread thin at the expense of his family, no more could he allo-- Suddnely a memory hit him like a hammer, as he recalled one particular situation where he unfairly spoke harshly to his sister when she would not back him in a brawl, and cited her own children as a good reason not to leap into any fray that came alone, like she used to before she had them..

Damn..

Brian felt foolish all over again.. That day he was angry at his sister, and she was simply acting like a mother concerned for her children. Foolish, was an understatement. They say hindsight is a clear 20/20 and this was no different by any means, as Brian recalled his words, Jewell's words and more so, and with such clarity to boot.

Changes..

What exactly would he have to change? How far would he take it? So many thoughts drift and return, and yes while it sounds ridiculous and truth be told is ridiculous, it is still the norm to ponder such things. Some parents take it too far, others have little regard for their own well being of that of the children, others have taken them into a fully crowded and quite drunken inn, and more so.

What kind of parents would he and Jenai truly be? There love for life, and helping others was well known in the realms. His penchant for sticking himself knee deep in a number of situations and scenarios, where it normally was not initially welcome, known also. Affiliations with a number of camps within the city, his work with the RMF. Jenai's work with her sisters, patrols, random skirmishes and more so. Brian's work in Appleburg, and most importantly WestEnd..

Now that alone forced a deep shiver to break loose within the elder Ravenlock. He lept into that with the tanacity of a ravenous pit bull, and refused to budge. When others said 'no' and stood idly, he and his people remained and dug in their heels. Threats against his beloved and himself, threats against his sister and her own children.

A body count that was truly undetermined and more so. A monster was what they were truly dealing with, and like a monster, any chance to gain any kind of an advantage would be taken. Jenai with child very well could be that advantage.. Or could Brian be the liability now? Father to be, family to begin. Would he be softer, would he be as resolved to see this to it's no doubt bloodied end?

The answer was clear.

He had already assembled an incredibly strong gathering of those who was set to follow this through, and there was no way he would allow them to step into the dark, and he not be there. He would never ask anything of them, that he himself would not be willing to do. He would see this, and whatever else came down the line through, he would do what needed to be done, and would come back to his family.

Stength..

While he was not imbued with incredible and miraculous powers, while he wasn't an angel/demon mix from some far off land, while he wasn't some exiled elvish prince or princess, with a god like grace, and the healing powers of a gang of clerics, or a gothic tiara winged being, or undead miracle worker/daywalking undead skeleton who carries cash on hand with no pockets, he was one thing. Tenaciously strong.

His determination to do what needed to be done, his resolved to do what others would not do, his willingness to go against the grain and even against authority when the need presented itself, was what he relied upon. That and the strength of those around him, the love and strength of his siblings, and friends. The love of his heart, his beloved Jenai that drives him like no other. All of that is what strengthens him. Each of them a true reason to fight, if there ever was one. Jenai his reason to live and never give in to whatever would come head on at them. Now he had another reason, their child.

It's amazing how something so small, so fragile, so dependant could affect a life so profoundly. As the night progressed, Brian remained at his beloved's side, and watched her slumber. Occasionally his hand drifted to softly caress her cheek, and set some bothersome locks aside a bit as he smiled lovingly to her. Jenai had come into his life nearly the same way..

A wish on the winds of fate, a total surprise, and a welcomed feeling like no other. Something that he had missed out on for such a long time, and something he would fight to no end to continue to be with. So let change come, let things be different, let whatever would present itself, present away. Brian was more than ready and would do whatever it would take to assure he and Jenai's family would remain as it had started.. Happy, content, loving, determined and strong.
