EVIL Roast

~ Taken from the Home Sweet Home folder at the Sanc. Jen's first Jenism:

As the Scathachians began amassing in RhyDin, it became clear that they would gravitate toward each other. There's something to be said for the base instincts that drive any animal, much less a human, much less a warrior. Isuelt had secured herself a roomy place in town, owing to the occasional want for an actual bed and coverings, bathtubs, and the like. First, it was Jenai who was taken into this abode, next was Trixie. And as the pattern goes, Eddie was the latest addition to this Scathachian sanctuary.

There was a comfort here that Isuelt felt, she was sure they all did. They were in the company of "family" once again, just as they had been on the Island. There was the familiarity of comradery that they regularly engaged in; telling stories, getting caught up and simply existing together.

Trixie kept her odd hours, Jenai was always off on some mission, Eddie was pretty good at getting herself into trouble (though she loved it that way), and Isuelt found herself resuming the role of teacher again, as she saw to it that they were all happy and healthy.

She loved these girls as if they truly had been her flesh and blood. Truth be told, these "sisters" were the only family she had. And something about them all being in each other's company again gave her a stirring she had not felt in some time....that elusive feeling of hope.

JenJen was being herself again as the pitter pat of her barefeet through the house was more slap slap pat. She was streaking through it again. More then likely she had forgotten something she had to do or lost something she needed to keep.

This time is was something she was supposed to do!

She came to a painful stop, coliding with the door to the kitchen. It seems she could not stop on a dime when she turned a corner at the same time. But inside she pushed and the smell of the roast filled her nose and the hall. Too bad it was almost burning.

Dancing a nervous jig, she opened the oven to see just hbow bad the danage was. To her delighted violet eyes not much!

"Good chunk of meat, keeeeep cookin! You look a little dry though." the gravy it cooked in had started to dry and burn to the sides of the glass cooking dish.

"Just a little more water!" Jenai grabbed the measuring glass and filled it up. She only needed a little to make the juice mix like she'd done before... and so sweetly and happily she started to pour. Oh how Happy.. The hiss of the meat the smell of the cooking meat tingled and teased her nose.

With great ado the roast and it's cooking dish had other plan and EXPLODED inside, outside , and all over the oven and the kitchen wall. There was only a spot where Jenai's feet where that remained untouched on the floor by gravy, meat, and glass shards.

A silent, blinking, wideeyed Jenai still stood, bent over at the stove side, measuring cup in hand tilted. And whispered to herself "I didn't know that could happen."

Sitting in one of the reflecting parlors of the Temple, Isuelt had a chakram on her lap along with a polishing rag, another chakram was beside her on the table. She had been lulled into an almost hypnotic state due to the rhythm of her polishing and the gentle rush of the water pool within the parlor. But not even the most blissfully hypnotic moment could withstand the "Ka-Boom-Shatter" from the kitchen.

Suddenly bolt-upright, taking the half-polished chakram with her, she moved quickly to the kitchen, and barreled through the door. The scene before her would normally be considered gory: steaming, liquidy meat remnants all over the place and Jenai standing in the middle of it with a weapon poised. Only difference? The victim was their dinner, the weapon was a measuring cup.

Without so much as a word, Isuelt let out a slowly winding chuckle that escalated to a cackle within a minute. The chakram hung needlessly at her side as she grinned at Jenai. "Oh honey...please don't tell me that my own cooking disasters are contagious."

Jenai had a classic look on her face that melted as Issy started to chuckle. All she could do was tiptoe out of the puddle the best she could, hot beef juicy and gravy between her toes reminded her of something she stepped in last summer and sent shudders down her long spine.

She grabbed a fork and speared the beast... aka the exploding roast, and it hung like a, well chunk of meat as she waved it to the trash. She would smell like roast for days now.

"It was an evil roast anyway."

And she grabbed the mop and bucket with a red faced grin.

As she crossed her arms, mindful of the chakram, Isuelt watched Jenai tread carefully through the mess of a meal on the kitchen floor.

She smirked lightly as she eyed Jenai's bare feet and the roast's juices squishing around them. "Uhh...I really don't feel like licking your toes clean tonight, Jen. Maybe tomorrow though?"

She winked at the younger Scathachian before she continued, "How about we go bother Brian down at the Red Dragon? He owes us anyway." She turned and made her way out of the kitchen to get ready, calling over her shoulder, "I'll get Trixie..." Her tickled laughter could still be heard dancing happily off the walls.

And she grabbed the mop and bucket with a red faced grin.

The Plant:

At the door the little redhead stopped and thought. But only for a minute. A Jen-Minute was a neo-second to most others. You see, she was always running in 5th gear mentally... too bad it was also when she took turns on the thought road and would skitter off the road. And there are times when the whole thing slipped right into neutral!

ah yes, where was she? She bent over and brushed some of the dirt from her feet. Giving her toes a little wiggle with a smile coming over her face and darted inside. A tiny itty bitty red clay pot in her hand.

In a flurry of tumbling fire hued waves, she skittered now down the hall, Pitter Patter Slappity went the bottom of her feet till she came to the living room. Well it's where they all hung out like a bunch of she lions on sofas instead of rocks with it's various pieces of pillows and other chases. It was here that each one of the sisters had their own or favorite chair that fit them. Jen's was of course a massive mess of pillows and strolls.

Anyway! Bouncing to a stop she skipped to the window. With sudden gentleness she set the pot down sweetly, as if it was a bubble instead of earth made clay.

A baby Venus fly trap sat nestled in the mossy wet pot, Soil still bulged over one edge.

"There! I'll call you, " Now, JenJen thinking like JenJen's often do, had to give this new Pet of hers a good name. Oh she came up will a dozen names, but some seemed too prissy or too mean, so she settled on "Cleo!"

"I bet you would like some music!" she spun on her heals so fast she ended up with a piece of hair in her mouth. Plooy-ing it out, she jumped over the coffee table and reached for the stereo. Yeah they had a stereo, goddess they aren't barbarians! Big Band started blasting through the speakers, filling the house with the "Dirty Boogie" Plants liked music right?

~I got a little boogie but it ain't too clean~
~It's real low down and it's kinda' mean~
~The dirty boogie~
~The dirty boogie~
~When I get low down, it's the dirty boogie for me~

The Drowess' eyes snapped open rather suddenly as less-than-dulcet tones begin blasting throughout the house. The rest of her Sisters might socialize amongst each other regularly, but Rae preferred the solitude of her room and the quiet of meditation most of the time. Her bed was a simple mat on the floor. So was her "chair" in the living room, when she did visit with the other Scathachians.

She rises quickly to her feet, quirking an eyebrow up waaay high in pure and unadulterated wonderment at this... noise.

'WTF?' would sum her look up pretty well.

~Well you rattle and shake, you moan and groan~
~A girl like you I could never bring home~
~The dirty boogie~
~The dirty boogie~
~When I get low down, it's the dirty boogie for me~

Short blade drawn, she exploded out of her room, wondering if this was perhaps some kind of attack upon the Sanctuary. Down the hallway she went, supple leather cuirass (worn more for the sake of modesty than as armor. Even so, the 'modesty' was more for other's sakes than her own. Umrae'diira, like most Scathachians, was rather shameless) rasping softly as she bolted into the living room.

~They're shakin their hips and scream and shout~
~And doin' things I can't even talk about~
~The dirty boogie~
~Catch my drift~
~The dirty boogie~
~When I get low down, it's the dirty boogie for me~

Seeing that the Sanctuary was not, in fact, under attack, the wickedly-curved mithril blade was hidden away about her person again, perhaps into one of the black leather armwraps or legwraps or even the cuirass itself she wore. Black hands pressed down to pointed black ears, sensative to the extraordinarily loud music. Far, far more louder now that she was in the living room with the stereo, and a bebopping-about Jenai.

To her ears, the music was like thunder. Lightning striking the ground only feet away. Cannonfire, with your head just beneath the barrel. Elves had particularly keen hearing, after all. Far in advance of humans.

She lifted her voice accordingly.

"JEN!! WHAT IS THIS.... CACAPHONY!?"

~The dirty boogie~
~How's it go?~
~The dirty boogie~
~Not too slow~
~When I get low down, it's the dirty boogie for me~

She nearly jumped out of her skin in a less then graceful jolt. Rae had snuck up on her. It wasn't too hard at them moment. Clutching her chest, The look on her face was one of complete calamity, red and wide eyed deer in the headlight of not only a car, but a convoy of semi's.

"It's For The Plant!" Jen didn't bother yet with turning down the music, for after she finally collected herself together she cupped a hand to her mouth and shouted, the other arm across her pointing to the stereo. "They Like Music!"

Seeing Rae still there cupping her ears she got one of her oops looks. Her arm struck out like lightning and slapped the volume knob sending it spinning to mute. "It's for the Plant."

Her hands behind her back like she'd been caught in the cookie jar. But that only lasted for a second and she bolted out of the living room in a leap any deer would have been proud of. Hell Jen should have her own yellow sign buy now.

Tiki strikes.

Jen felt it was a must to tug on an old pair of cut off sweats, faded wife beater, and paint splattered kerchief around her head to clean house. Clean it to good way, you know, in your not expecting company clothes and the house all to yourself?

She walked out of the library, dust rag in one hand, dust-b-gone can in the other, she looked like she was right outta a b-rated movie, ATTACK of the HOUSEKEEPER 5.

Tiki Kitty was playing tag with a leaf she must have brought inside. Flipping it up to chase it around the carpet and the end table leg again and again. It brought a smile to Jenai's face.

She trotted over as Tiki stopped and gave her a quick mew. It stole her heart and she just had to give the bugger a pet. As the kitten curled it's self around Jen's ankle, she couldn't help but look at the leaf.

"Dead Leaf Ha! You suck leaf!... what the...?"

She bent down and snatched it up for a closer examination... funny looking, with little barb thingies on....

Her eyes darted to the window sill. The little clay pot lay turned on it's side, dark soil lay in clumps on and off the sill.... it's little leafs desperately clung to the shredded roots.

"Cleo! No!" She was at the window in half a heart beat, her lower lip growing into a big fat pout. Tears gathered on her eye lashes. Kitten 1, venus Fly Trap 0. She held the little baby plant in her hands, dirt and tattered leaves.

Tiki started making busy by cleaning herself. Jenai couldn't be mad, she was just a kitten. No telling what attracts a cat to attack house plants.

Jenjen the sad sniffled and cradled what was left as she walked outta the living room.

"Issy! Issy! It's dead!"
