She?d spent several days going back and forth into a small section of hidden woods. She called it hidden as the cabin had been built and land had been bought under an alias and purposefully tucked away in an obscure and dense section of the forest. It was a spot only two people knew, she and Brian.

It wasn't a lot of tradition built into their Valentine?s day. They were usually busy with family or business that, well, they just usually had very sweet and quiet dinner and gift exchange. One day a year was not enough, they tried to make every day a day to make sure the other knew how much they were loved and admired.

But this year, Jenai had figured things would be a little different. He always doted on her and she felt she never ... quite got the hang of this holiday down. But Brian was just that much better at these kind of things.

She snorted and chuckled at that. It?s a Ravenlock thing. Jewell and Alex had that pizzazz also, romance and all that stuff that went along with it. Hey! At least if she ever needed advice, she had a hell an in-law to ask!
She?d been taking trips under the guise of working to freshen up the old one room cabin. Bringing in supplies for a long weekend and fresh linens had been a bit to get around Brian and the girls.

Gria and Storm on the other hand knew she?d be taking a holiday and the kids would be in the valley on a ?Survival Exercise?. Aka, the girls were being punished but they would be going camping with the Aunties and Mom?s friends. Jen had given strict orders though to make them actually do things. Dominick would be of course with the Aunties as well to get a breath of fresh air away from the city and get to learn a little bit about the wild.

Jenai almost packed everything up right there. No, no, she knew she could trust Dom with them all. They would never let anything happen. The girls... well, they could more than take care of themselves.

She took a deep breath and finished placing winter blooms in the last room.

A long rose box arrived for Brian at work with a note attached that said ?Read me first?

?The kids are with their aunties until Tuesday. I hope you like t-bone steak. Come find me in our secret place.?
The box held no roses, but one of his favorite super soakers and an extra note tied with red ribbon to the trigger guard.
?p.s. I?m wearing white.?

Business as usual, that's what it was at the 27th Division of the Rhy'Din Watch and Localized Militia, and for its Commanding Officer things were no different at all, especially since they'd enforced a trio of Felony Warrants, two Restraining Orders and a round up of Garden Gnomes that were in complete violation of the 'Lawn Gnome Piddle Accord of 2013'.

Yeah, it was one of those days, ladies and gents.

But that's alright, cause that's just the way it was, you know? And that was despite the fact, that a certain day fell on the rapidly approaching weekend. A day that most assuredly was not lost on Brian, especially when it came to the woman he adored to absolutely no end, what so ever.

It also was a day that was hardly lost to one self proclaimed Queen of Mithra Mayhem, not to mention her adoring public... Or her 'Cor-Baby' who she still pined after, even after a pair of expired Restraining Orders, two Civil Writs of Bodily Attachment and a letter from various civil rights groups.

So with that in mind, we go to the debriefing room of the 27th, fresh off the Lawn Gnome issue, where Brian is holding court, so to speak.

?Alright, good work out there, everyone. I don't mean with just the gnomes, but the Bravo Whiskeys and Restraining Orders, too. No one hurt, no major damage save some doors and that was about it. So good work, everyone.?

?Didja expect less, El Capitano? I mean come on, baby! This is the 27th, we run this bitch yo!?

Kerri's outburst drew an immediate facepalm from Brian, who just shook his head. ?Uh huh... Anyways, let's get those 'A-Forms' handled and work out the transport. Kerri, I need your Training Evals for the week to be filed, as well. We got a long weekend coming up, Eros an what not.?

Kerri pointed to the door, ?Alright, kids and kids-- you heard the Cap'n. Elbows and $%#@holes! Hey, Hudson! Get over here! Ah I'm kiddin, hah! Anyways, get to it guys an gals, woo!?

The rank and file well-- filed on out the door, leaving Brian and Kerri in the room.

?So Eros, brah! Gimme some lovin', domestics, an make ups. I swear we do some good business for a holiday that's all about getting Stella's Groove Back, yeah??

Another facepalm from Brian commenced, ?Really, Ker??

?I know, I know man-- anyways, you gonna go all out or what, man??

?Somethin' like that, Ker.? said Brian, as he began to unclasp his tactical vest. ?What about you??

?Me? I figure, some wining, some dining and maybe I stand on Cor's fence and do a truffle shuffle or two, maybe three if he's lucky.?

Setting the vest on the table before him, Brian looked to Kerri once more. ?That's hardly healthy, you know. Please don't get in trouble again.?

?You wanna talk to me about healthy? Listen, brother. I got stories you know, I was there and when you were there, I was here. No health preachin', Bri. An, I won't get into too much trouble, alright. Anyways, tell me whatcha got for Red.?

?I want to take her home.?

?Huh? Take her home? Dood, you live across the street. You do that every day!?

Brian shook his head softly, ?No, Ker. I mean-- Tyris. Home, as in where I came from.?

?Say what!? Are you serious? Man, get outta here, I mean how long's it been now, since you even went back there??

?It's been a long time, Kerri. Almost a decade, now.?

Sliding out of her own vest, Kerri gave Brian quite the puzzled look. ?So why now??

?Cause it's about time, Ker. Cause we need some time away, an maybe--- well, that's the only part of my life she hasn't seen, yet. Anyways, I think it'll do us both some goo---?

?Captain, you have property inbound, ETA 1.?

Brian looked to the doorway, as a courier made their way in carrying--- ?Long box, Bro! If it's not a severed head, I will be most disappointed!?

?Shut it, Ker.?

Accepting the box, Brian nodded to the courier who then took their leave. His eyes panned from the box to Kerri, ?Looks like flowers.?

?Yeah?? Mithra ears perked as Kerri, grinned.

?It's too heavy, though.? said Brian as he set the box down. ?There's a note-- Read me first.?

So he did, exactly that.

?The kids are with their aunties until Tuesday. I hope you like t-bone steak. Come find me in our secret place.??

Raising a brow, he opened the box...

?A Super Soaker??

Kerri's eyes widened, ?Dood that's Drench-iticus Rex! I haven't seen that in-- damn, bro!?

Brian nodded, a faint smile forming on that face of his as he regarded the soaker, his thoughts back to the note, and then--- ?There's another, note... Here.?

?p.s. I?m wearing white.?

Oh wide did those eyes of Brian Ravenlock open, ladies and gents! ?Sonuva----?

?Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn, you got Jen-Jacked, Bro! Shama-lama-Muu-Muu! BOOM! Ha, she beat you to the punch, Ha Ha Ha and HA!?

?Gotta go... Um, Ker? You're in charge, don't burn the city down, don't lose any of the newbies, and--- Later!?

Out the door he bolted, and by bolted, I mean the man pretty much tore through the building to the main lobby, out the door and across the market like a literal bat outta hell, folks.

All Kerri could do, was watch him from the main lobby doors, ?Run like the wind, Bulls Eye! You can dooo-eeet!?

And that is exactly what he did, all the way across the market place and into Unkindness. Stairs were taken two to three at a time, till he was in their bedroom. Clothes were peeled off as a quick shower an shave followed, then a change of clothes and a fast packing of a duffle bag, making sure not to forget the 'good stuff'.

Pulgasari was snagged from the wall, not to mention Drench-iticus slung over his shoulder to boot, as he did a quick check and re-check and then it was down said steps, out the door for Brian Ravenlock, who quickly vanished into the crowd.

Funny, no? As cool and collected as he is known to be and yet she undoes him, just like that. Bam. Just like that first morning that had met so long ago, same as their first date, or the time she first kissed him.

No one else in this world, or the next could do to Brian what she could, and that also was something that was never once lost on him, nor would it ever be. Fact.

Next stop, Jenai...
