The walk had not been a long one and they gathered pleasant company on the way. The villa was set upon a low rise of a hill, the mill attached to its outside burbled in its churning. The buttery glow of a few low burning lamps gave a welcome to their arrival. "Always thoughtful, left a few of the lights on, and," hearing the barking of a few dogs, "the dogs as well." The boys scampered up to the door to talk to the dogs through the door with cheerful expectation of play. "Have you all been here before?"

"I hav', 'bout a year ago." Katarina paused as they gathered outside of the door, tugging on Locke's hand in the process of stopping.

Ewan nodded slowly, he looked over the house, inspecting it out of habit. "Once I have for Mister Smith's pre nuptials party. Locke was there as well." He reached a hand for the key so he would be the first to enter and hopefully control the dogs.

Locke looked to Sylvia, smiling brightly at the memory. He looked over to Ewan, nodding to the man. "What he said, mates."

Syl gave over the key and tried to draw the boys back from the door. "Patience is a virtue." To which Cian promptly replied without a beat, "So is valor." Sylvia could barely control her countenance.

"Avery, step out of the way, please." Storm hoped that her son stepping aside would help the others follow suit.

Sianna walked along the lane towards the villa with her sister-in-law and Peredhil in tow. The plan had been to double to Beltane together but Johnny was home sick with a horrible cold. He desired nothing more than to sleep. Crestfallen, Sianna had allowed herself to be encouraged to still attend, and then pulled to Jolly's as many were leaving the hecticness of the festivities for a more intimate celebration of the season.

Peredhil tried not to sniffle as he followed along. He'd spent the previous day with his future brother-in-law, who'd apparently passed along more than good marriage advice.

With door unlocked and the two hounds partially controlled, Ewan bumped the door open further with his backside. "Welcome to Rumors Mill, our host is currently delayed, but let us see what he has to offer." And the kids were off like a shot through the house, the dogs let go to run playfully after them.

A glance then, to Peredhil as they made their way up onto the porch. "Ya better not be plannin' ta pass any of that along ta me, yeah?" Juliane chuckled and pulled a hankerchief from the small clutch she carried and holding it out to him.

There was an odd feeling in entering someone's home that she barely remembered while he wasn't there. She shuffled closer to Locke as they followed the children inside. "Dun thin' he had th' dogs las' time I was here. Ya?" She looked to Locke, before looking over his shoulder to her family, "Peredhil, ya holdin' everyone up er wha'?"

A smile to the extensive Smith/Fraiser/whatever Peredhil's last name was, clan, Sylvia motioned them to come in. "I at least know where the drinks are kept and some food. We have no lack of a variety of wines, juices, water, and who knows what else. The man is a connoisseur of beverages." She went to turn up some of the lights, including one on the back porch. "Ewan will you see to a fire, but small." With a respectful nod towards Locke.

Peredhil rolled his eyes as he accepted the offering, duly wiping it under his nose. "Aye, aye, cap'n." He extended it back to her in jest, then deposited it in his pocket when she crinkled her face in disgust. Smiling gratefully at Sylvia, he followed the ladies in.

Storm nodded at Sylvia, before looking to Ewan and lowering her voice, "I can contain its heat. Not to worry, beloved." She leaned to kiss his cheek before walking in.

Locke smiled gratefully for Sylvia, at the mentioning of the small bonfire, before turning to Katarina, scratching his chin. "I do not believe that Jolyon had dogs when I was last here."

"He can't help it that yer perfume is makin' him wanna sneeze, Pinks." Juliane gave Katie a teasing grin before moving into the house. It felt odd to be there, but she pushed the feeling aside and centered her attention on the pleasant company at hand.

A kiss to Storm's cheek, Ewan went to dutifully build a fire so the little warband could dance about it until they were exhausted and ready for sleep. He commented on what he thinks he heard from Locke. "I do not recall the dogs either."

"Ya need help, Sylvia?" Katarina released Locke's hand to follow the woman and assist with carrying supplies. She stuck her tongue out to Juliane over her shoulder, while Peredhil laughed at Juliane's response to Katie, mouthing 'Pinks' questioningly at Juli.

Wandering to the kitchen with a smile, Sylvia answered, "Yes, if you would, Katarina. Thank you. Do you think this is a wine sort of group?" A wry smile as Sylvia looked over a few bottles. Her attention diverted by the dogs comment. "He added the two at last harvest. Seemed to help with the birds and such." She rummaged out some fruit, cheeses, bread and some chocolate almonds. "Little devil has a stash."

Storm followed Ewan outside, watching him create the fire. She kept her eyes on the warband while she waited.

Juliane grinned to Katie and pretended to adjust an invisible halo, before leaning to murmur softly in Peredhil's ear, "It's ?cause she's th' pink of perfection, remember?" Chuckling lightly, she placed a quick kiss to his cheek.

With a polite nod to Locke and Ewan, Peredhil then nodded in response to Juliane's explanation. "Of course. Makes sense."

"Oh, an' he'd definitely wan'ta share his stash." Katarina gave a serious nod for Sylvia, before shrugging regarding the wine question, "Guess we'll fin' ou'. If nothin's used, we kin bring it back."

A certain nod in agreement about the stash. "Then, here we are. Shall we conduct the gathering to the back patio?" The tray of edibles in one hand, a few bottles in the fingers of her other hand, and Sylvia nodded to the basket of wines and beers. "I'll come back in for the water and juice pitchers."

Locke stood in the doorway momentarily, before doubling back to go outside and stand in the front yard, looking up at the sky. He reached into the canvas tote dangling from his arm and pulled out another bottle of water, to replace the one he'd finished on the way over to Jolyon's place. He uncapped it and took a healthy swig.

The fire was now brisk and snapping in the fire pit. Ewan was joining the kids in a wild dance about it, making mockery of himself which helped with the laughter.

Sianna had grown quiet, thinking to Johnny ill at home and Matty having sacrificed her own revelry with Henderson so that she could be out and about. Listening with half an ear to the gathered group, she couldn't stop herself from soaking in the various artifacts and curiosities nestled here and there throughout the living room.

"Ya go' it." She picked up the basket of glass delicately, before leading the way out to the back patio to set the items down there.

Feeling everyone shift, Sianna moved to gather what pitchers she could and made her way to the patio in the wake of Sylvia and Katie.

Peredhil's eyes shifted to Sianna, before exchanging a quick glance with Juliane. His hand rested lightly against her lower back, gently leading her out towards the back patio in accordance with Sylvia's suggestion.

Storm laughed warmly, and paused before creating a barrier around the fire to watch her husband with the children. It was a tender moment to reflect on before she built a barrier to keep from hands being stuck into the flames, or for the heat to spread too far.

"Sianna, if you show that much interest in that plate when Jolly is here, you will have a five hour lecture coming at you. Come along and join us outside." Sylvia smiled and then laughed at what she saw the children and Ewan were up to.

Katarina glanced around briefly, noting Locke's absence from the group. It was hard not to notice when a blue face was missing. She meandered back into the house to see if she could find him.

"Aye, while it 'tis verra interesting, I dinna think five hours of its history would be verra fitting tae our party." A wry chuckle as she sat down the pitchers before pouring herself a glass of juice.

Ewan had Beata in his arms, twirling her about as he danced, and then set her down to go help with getting the food situated and taking up one of the beers for himself and flopping down on the grass just past the patio stones.

A merry laugh, the notes drifting out into the night as Sylvia sat and poured herself a glass of wine. "I think we should invade Jolly's home more often." This got a rousing cheer from the children.

"I completely agree." Storm chuckled, moving over to pour herself a glass of wine as well. She watched as Avery tried to sneak up to attack Ewan while he was laying down.

Locke could hear the children laughing and playing in the back of the house, and it was that sound that brought him back from the front yard to the back, still standing a good distance from the gathering of people and the fire that had been set. He sipped again from his water bottle. His cobalt eyes seemed to shift to a lighter, more neon blue hue as the light from the fire and moon flickered and fell on him.

"Oh, there ya ar'." Katarina sidestepped Locke as she came up behind him. "Doin' betta?" Her voice lowered, but the concern in the tone was still evident.

Unfortunately for Locke, the children seemed to latch on to those who stand apart. The welcoming sort they are. In particular Aidan approached him with a big smile. "Betcha your good at hide in seek in the dark."

Sea-green eyes trailed after Storm, the scene taking Peredhil back to a memory that had resurfaced during a conversation earlier this evening. Soft steps pulled him away from the rest of the group and off to one side of the patio.

Storm took a seat across from Sylvia, and just as she was about to say something to Peredhil, he turned and headed for the other direction. Her eyes followed him briefly as she took a sip.

Locke lowered his voice and looked over his shoulder, giving Katarina a quick answer as Aidan seemed to be approaching. "I am, Katarina." Locke put on a wide grin for Aidan, bright white teeth nearly shining in the low light. "I am quite aces at hide and seek in the dark, mate. I can see in the dark better than most blokes can. Part and parcel of the ice elf heritage, savvy?"

Peredhil was no safer than Locke. Cian was over there to give a bow and then asked quite matter of factly. "Who are you?"

Aidan's forest hazel eyes widened. "Whoa...you gotta play!" Bounce, bounce and running to his mother. "Can we play hide and seek in the vines? We won't go far."

Katarina patted Locke?s shoulder briefly, before squeezing past him and the boys. Chuckling as Adian seemed rather determined for a match, she moved over to take a seat on the back patio as well.

Glancing down at Cian, Peredhil smiled and said formally, returning the bow, "I'm Peredhil, a friend of your mom. You must be Cian."

Locke looked over to Sylvia as Aidan ran over, holding his hands up in the air. The gesture seemed half-apologetic, half-mischievous.

"Lord Peredhil, we are going to play hide and seek. You are welcome to join us." Cian was much more formal than Aidan's enthusiasm.

Sylvia looked over the children and the fields and nodded. "Yes, you may play, but do not force the adults if they do not wish to do so. You have plenty of play partners as it is. And Aidan you must keep your sister with you." He sighed and rolled eyes, but Sylvia was not about to go down that road and just gave him a look. Aidan took Beata's hand. Cian called. "All who are playing hide and seek, let's play. I am it!"

"I'd love to, Cian." An eyebrow arched at the kid's formality, but he smiled and then set off to hide when Cian announced that he was it.

Hiding his eyes, Cian began to count -- loud and clear.

Ewan rose from his seat to return Kellan to his mother and joined in. "I shall join in the play." Mainly so he could keep an eye on the children. When the count began he went to hide.

Locke removed his floral print white, grey, and black tuxedo jacket and headed onto the back porch, waggling his brows for Katarina. "Could I convince you to hold onto my coat for me?" He held it out, waiting for her to take it, glancing back at the vines as if anxious to get back to the game.

"Sure thin',? she giggled as he wiggled his brows before taking it and setting it down carefully on her lap.

Storm took Kellan and watched as Avery set off after his father for a hiding spot.

Sianna moved to claim a seat near Sylvia and Katie, sipping from her juice. The antics were endearing and adorable. And that applied to boys both young and younger.

Peredhil's eyes swept over the back patio, finally spotting a decent hiding spot behind a bush along the back wall of the house. Scurrying over there, he slipped in just as Cian was finishing the count.

Sylvia sighed and stretched out one arm and then the other, switching her wine glass between each hand as needed. "Well, ladies, any of you going to join in the hide and seek?" It was quite clear she was not going to do so. "I do wonder what the boys think sometimes. Always seem to want to get the men involved in some sort of game."

Locke sprinted and leaped off the patio, before hustling for the vines to try and find a good spot within them. The faint glow that accompanied his sight at night was also a curse; a careful searcher would spot them quite easily, if they knew what to look for, or happened to stumble upon it.

Katarina shifted over to pour herself a glass of white wine, "I'd play, if I wasn' wearin' white an' stickin' ou' all ova th' place. Bu', I neva was real good a' this game."

Cian's count ends with "Twenty! Ready or not, here I come!" And he went creeping about the patio, looking behind chairs to start.

"I think they like the idea of the possibility to win against the men." Storm chuckled, watching with interest as Cian began his search.

Ewan had placed himself just at the edge of shadow in the vines, and from the vantage could see most everyone, but in particular, Avery, Aidan, and Beata, who were of his greatest concern.

"Yeah, I don't think so. No' without some sorta camouflage or upper hand against two elven men and a ranger." Juliane chuckled before pouring herself a glass of wine.

"I sometimes wonder if it is not from a lack of a male role model." She mumbled, but then shook her head, not wanting to go down that road. She sipped more wine. "It has been quite a night. Did you see those fairy lights? Almost mesmerizing."

Cian had given up on the furniture and was working his way outward on the edge of the house, getting rather close, unbeknownst to him, to Peredhil. The man did his best to shrink into the bush, which unfortunately was much smaller than it had seemed at first. Despite his best efforts, a good chunk of his body remained visible. As Cian neared, he kept silent, motionless. Yet, Cian frowned at the bush which really looked odd shaped, and then guessed -- hoped -- someone was behind it and yelled out. "Found you!" and pounced on the other side of the shrub.

"Aye, was a marvel and sae pretty how it illuminated everyone in their finery." Another sip as Sianna turned her head towards the vines and the shrieks emanating from it. Her grin was almost permanent.

Kellan rested his head in the curve of Storm's neck, and she rubbed his back slowly, "The decorations were very beautiful."

As Cian pounced on his back, he reached both hands up in surrender. "You did! Well done! Do you want help finding the rest of the group or do you think you can do it alone?"

Katarina nodded absently, sipping the wine as she watched Cian discover someone with obvious enjoyment.

A sip of wine, Sylvia asked, "How are the twins, Sianna? I have meant to come and visit, but did not want to disturb as things were resettling."

Cian considered Peredhil?s question and then nodded. "Two heads are better than one. Four eyes better than two. And you're taller. I think you should help me." Then with a motion of his hand, he asked, ?Where next, you think?"

Locke heard the cry, and figured that was as good a time as any to step into sight from his hiding spot within the vines. Apparently, he didn't know the game was still afoot...

Peredhil nodded thoughtfully then glanced over at the vines, where some movement had caught his eye. "I think that might be a good place to start."

"They are growing rapidly, though they canna seem tae related, being sae verra different. Schedules, temperments, ye name it... they're east and west." Sianna shook her head with a wry grin. "But just th' same, they are verra sweet and I am verra blessed."

Under the direction of Peredhil, Cian saw Mister Locke move. "You're supposed to keep hiding." He ran up to him. "But we found you, so you gotta help, too. We gotta find my brother and sister."

Sylvia smiled, a soft laugh hearing the opposites and what it all entailed. "Oh, yes, keeping up with the variety of sleeping schedules is always fun."

Storm's smile was soft with early memories, concentrating on the warmth of Kellan against her front, "That does not seem so odd. Juliane and Johnny do not seem to be the same, either."

With hands in his khaki pockets, Jolyon wandered to his home, his thoughts low, but lights and the prospect of good company cheered him enough, and he went around to the back where he heard the call of voices.

Chuckling at Cian's admonition of Locke, Peredhil patted the man on the shoulder. "At least you weren't discovered first."

Katarina shifted as Cian and Peredhil went out of sight, before looking around and spotting Jolyon, "Welcome home, Jolyon!" She gave a cheeky grin.

"Well," Jolyon looked around, "I see you have found everything. Excellent, excellent." Then he counted once more. "But we seem to be missing some people."

Juliane chuckled. "Oh, with us it seems ta be looks and some things, but not everythin', yeah? Th' twins don't share either of tha'."

Locke lifted a foot up into the air and stamped it, throwing a mock temper-tantrum. "Oh b-" And he cut himself off, before he accidentally said something naughty in front of the lad. He rolled his eyes at Cian. "I suppose I can help you." Locke winked, to let the lad know he was kidding, before sending a quirky smile to Peredhil. "I suppose that counts for something as well, mate."

Katarina's smile grew to a grin as she heard the next person being caught.

Cian's mouth formed a silent "o" as he had a good idea what Mister Locke was going to say, but then with a laugh, he asked, "Which way, you think? I think they are all in the vines." A nod, but still he looked to the adults for advice.

A sip of wine, Sylvia smiled to Jolly. "Yes, I think I have visited once too often. I even found your stash of chocolate almonds." She pointed with one finger uncurling from the wine glass to the munchies.

"I say go with your gut, Cian. You lead, we'll follow."

"The sacred chocolate almonds? I must find a better hiding place." He grinned and then looked to the wine and then the other offerings. "I think I will have a glass of that as well and a few of my stash." He sat.

Juliane perked teasingly at the mention of chocolate almonds. "And th' others are out in th' vines playin' hide and seek. Feel free ta join 'em and I'll gladly keep an eye on the almonds for ya, Jolly."

"There's nah hidin' place safe." Another solemn nod and just to spite, Katarina reached over to munch on one of the almonds.

Ewan knew time was getting late, and his family still had to get home, so he pitched his voice to make it sound like a cough near Aidan and Beata.

Katarina wiggled her brows as she already defied Juliane's word.

Locke's ears twitched at the sound of the cough, and he turned to face the direction he thought it had come in, though he followed Peredhil's words and let Cian take the lead.

Jolyon frowned playfully at the risks to his chocolate almonds and almost protectively curled his arm about the bowl of them. "Wicked, wicked, I say." But then smiled and uncurled to pop an almond in his mouth and chewed happily.

"Hey now, if ya aren't hidin' 'em, ya better share!" Juliane held out a palm expectantly, a twinkle in her eye.

"Sylvia found 'em fair an' square. Bu'cha see all these kids 'round? Nah hidin' place's safe." Katarina giggled as he tried to protect the almonds.

"We teach everyone to share, Jolyon. Set a good example for the children." Storm joined in the banter with a light tease as Kellan began to fall asleep against her.

"Oh! I hear someone!" Cian went up the line of vines, thoughtfully not going through them, and back down. Of course, Aidan had thought Beata had coughed and was hushing her, which only meant he was making noise. So, the ultimate result was. "Ha! I found you Aidan and Beata." Beata giggled mightily, jerking a bit at the surprise, but still laughing almost doubling over. Aidan was less than pleased. "She gave me away." Then immediately after. "Have you found Avery or Master Corinsson?"

Sylvia laughed at the teasing Jolly was getting, but did not come to his aid either. Jolly shook his head and chuckled. "I am happily sharing my home and glad to have guests. It has been some time."

Avery was starting to feel a little too sure of himself and dared to change his hiding place, unfortunately, into the same place as his father, which made him fall back a bit and cause a twig to snap.

"It is a kindness for you to have us all come. Thank you, Jolyon." Storm sent him a warm smile.

"Don't say that verra loud, Jolyon, or ye may tempt th' lot of us tae descend upon ye and yer hospitality and ne'er leave." A wide grin lifted the corners of Sianna?s lips before she sipped her juice.

Another twitched of his pointed ears, and Locke pointed accusingly in the direction that the sound came from.

Cian appeared to be quite the "hide and seek" expert, so Peredhil quietly slipped away and found a seat next to Juliane. "Evening, Jolyon. Thanks for having us over. I really like what you've done with the place."

"I hear him!" Not sure which one, Cian went off at a run. "I heard him first!" Aidan countered and took off after. Beata smiled up at Mister Locke and leaned against his leg, her hand curling in his slacks to claim him as her guide.

"I thin' Si's sick o' th' res' o' us an' tryin' ta dump us a' yer door." Katarina sent a wink to Sianna.

A burst of laughter. "I think the distance might dissuade from that. Where is Johnny?" Jolyon looked about. "Out hiding and seeking as well?"

Locke looked down at the littlest of Sylvia's children, and smiled at her, before slowly following after Aidan and Cian, mindful of the child clinging to his trousers.

"Who could possibly be sick of a house full of Smiths, aye? 'Tis a rare blessing tae be able tae partake of, which is why I'm trying tae gie Jolyon th' chance..." Sianna beamed to Katie before turning to the question. "He's home abed wi' a verra terrible cold."

Jolyon?s smile fell some. "I am sorry. Do send him my wishes for a speedy recovery."

Katarina rolled her eyes, before looking to Juliane, "See tha'? Bein' kicked ta th' curb." Another sip of her wine.

Abruptly they were found, and Ewan gathered up Avery, and used him more like a shield running up the vines. Avery's silent laugh unheard, but the smile was large.

"Speak fer yerself, Pinks. Though if ya had a place of yer own... ya could do th' kickin, yeah?" She giggled softly before leaning against Peredhil and sipping her wine.

"Oh no! They're attacking!" Cian yelled and turned about, Aidan slipped, but scrambled to his feet to escape the oncoming of Avery and Ewan. "Run, Mister Locke!" He yelled warning.

Sylvia looked to the vines to check on things and saw her little girl clinging to Locke's trousers. "Excuse me, ladies. I think I need to rescue a man from becoming child handled." She went to claim Beata from Locke with an apologetic and thankful smile.

"I'll be sure tae do sae, Jolyon. And gie ye his thanks in advance." Sianna?s own smile wavered before she kicked the wattage up a bit to overcome the pang of her husband's absence.

"I dun need a place ta do any kin' o' kickin'." The subject brought a soft smile to Katarina?s face, before she glanced over to Locke as Sylvia made her way there. The smile turned more lopsided.

Ewan made sure not to topple anyone over and set Avery down at the end of the lane of vines. With a significant look to his wife followed by a nod down to Avery, he hoped she understood he thought it was getting late for them to be getting home and the little ones to bed. Storm caught Ewan's look, and pointed slightly to Kellan to motion that he was already asleep. She rubbed his back gently once more as she came to a standing position.

Locke responded to the unspoken apology with a smile and words of his own. "No worries, mate." Once Beata was gone, Locke took a quick sidestep back into the vines, hoping to avoid Ewan and Avery (and whoever they were chasing) as they ran by.

Juliane turned her head to follow her cousin's gaze and chuckled.

Sylvia sat by the fire with Beata in her lap, humming a soft lullaby melody and rocking the little girl back and forth. Her sons came to collapse in dual heaps by either side of her, chattering about what had just happened as if she had been miles away and not heard.

"Jolyon, I thank you for your hospitality, but we should be getting back." He bowed his head, and then smiled to others. "It was good to see you all." He reached to take Kellan so Storm could rest a bit from holding him.

The other mothers with their children made Sianna feel a bit guilty of leaving Matty at home to care for hers.

Jolyon rose as Ewan, Storm, and family made to go. "A pleasure having you here. I look forward to seeing you all again soon."
*Thank you!* Avery signed to Jolyon merrily, before waving rather dramatically towards Sylvia's warband, "Yes, thank you very much, Jolyon." Storm handed Ewan their son with care, "Have a pleasant remainder of your evenings." This directed towards the group. [

"Ya'll hav' a g'nigh' now!" Katarina sent a happy smile and small wave for the family.

"Take good care." Sylvia smiled up to the family. "I will see you tomorrow, Ewan." She nodded significantly to him.

Locke stepped back in to full view, then looked around with a curious frown on his face. He wandered about for a moment, before he finally spotted what he was looking for. The water bottle and tote he had set aside before going to play hide and seek. He chugged the rest of the water, placing the empty in his tote, before jogging up to the patio. He waved to Storm and Ewan and company over his shoulder as he did so.

"Good e'en tae ye all." Sianna gave a wiggle of her fingers to the family as they departed.

Ewan nodded back to Sylvia, a soft smile to others, and then lead his family back towards their home in town.

Jolyon looked to Locke with a grin. "Survived the game, I see? Good man."

He flexed both biceps for Jolyon. "Was there ever any doubt, mate?"

Katarina rolled her eyes at Locke, before holding out his jacket for him with her free hand.

Sylvia laughed, looking up over her shoulder at Locke. "With my little warband? Sometimes I do doubt the adults will survive, so I for one am glad you did." And her little warband seemed proud of their ability to cast this fear in their mother, grinning big smiles even down to the little girl in her mother's lap playing with a lock of black hair.

Juliane and Peredhil sat and soaked in the pleasure of the company of their family and friends. It had been missed as of late.

A sip of wine, a soft laugh, and Jolyon nodded. Then he whistled for his dogs, as they seem nowhere in sight. The corresponding sound was rustling coming up a row of vines.

"We forgot to find the dogs!" Aidan exclaimed.

"What you need to find,? Sylvia countered, ?is the bathroom to clean up. Cian, help your sister, please." Cian dutifully took Beata's hand and Aidan took the little girl's other hand. "Say your goodnights," Sylvia prompted. The children did to everyone in general, well, Beata just mumbled something close, and then the three went into the house and to the room they knew was set aside for them.

Locke took the jacket and swung it around in a grand arc away from her, sweeping it around to his back, where he quickly put his arms in the sleeves and tugged at the cuffs. "Thank you most kindly, Katarina." He chuckled over in Sylvia's direction. "If I were afraid of the evils that lads and lasses could wreak, I would never have any fun."

"That is good of you, Locke. Thank you for your patience with them." She smiled warmly.

"Brave man. Did you know Aidan has been known to show off his prowess in eating unedible things like doodle bugs?" Jolyon shook his head. "Fascinating."

"Doodle bugs?" Katarina raised a brow up at Jolyon and crinkled her nose.

"So," Sylvia smiled a bit too bright to Peredhil and Juilane, "the wedding was when or will be when?" They must have expected this question.

"No problem at all, Sylvia." Locke quirked a brow in Jolyon's direction, then, as Katarina asked the question he was thinking.

Sylvia sighed hearing Jolyon and shook her head, not even trying to thwart the conversation.

Juliane and Peredhil nearly answered simultaneously, but Peredhil chuckled and deferred the answer. "In th' fall sometime. Haven't picked a specific date just yet though."

"Quite so. The little bugs that curl up into a ball." Jolyon nodded and popped in a chocolate covered almond to munch upon.

"A beautiful time of year. Will it be here or in another land?" Much more content to talk about weddings than her son's fascination with munching nature.

"Openin' up yer studies fer bugs too, Jolly?" Katarina chuckled, "Bu' I dun recommen' eatin' any kinda bug."

"Well," and now Locke was scratching his chin, contemplating what Jolyon had just said. "They apparently are edible, if he has consumed them and not perished."

"There are many things not edible that will not kill you if consumed. I would not recommend it. Perhaps a bit of encouragement away from such things might be in order from me." Jolyon grinned and a nod to Katarina. "Yes, Miss Smith, I study many things. Bugs, insects, if you are some of the oldest fossils."

Katarina grinned and shook her head slowly, "Tha's righ'. I need ta be askin' th' questions o' wha' yer nah studyin'." Another careful sip.

"Does no' edible allude tae th' fact that ye're supposed tae enjoy eating it?" Sianna?s brow furrowed, trying to weigh the pros and cons of that coin.

The group all laughed, and it was laughter and conversation that went well into the late hours of the night.
