It had been going on for quite awhile now. Even when they were together and the relationship was good, Cassie had noticed Alain?s unhealthy vices. The drinking had been more pronounced then. Now it was the smoking. Either way, he was involved in some serious, serious business and his involvement had Cassie involved as well. The emotional baggage aside, it was bad for business, which could be bad for her. He didn?t seem to care about his health, but who knew when it might matter if he could run faster or longer than a bad guy? Who knew when it would be so important for his mind to be clear rather than clouded by alcohol? Enough was enough. Cassie had had enough of his vices and he?d had enough of her bitching at him about. His statement about listening to a personal trainer sounded like a resounding challenge and she rose to the occasion: took his cigarettes, haggled a liquor allowance(She would have made him do hand-to-hand anyway, but this way it was his idea), and set a schedule for exercise and training.

She?d told him bright and early and she stuck to it, even though she knew he?d made a date for the night before. Wasn?t her fault if he didn?t go to sleep at a decent hour. After all, he knew when she was coming. Cassie would have dragged him out of bed with a woman if she?d had to. He said he?d listen and she was damn well going to make sure he pushed himself into top shape. She also wouldn?t listen or give in to any of his whining about needing more cigarettes. She gave him his daily allowance and that was that. If she caught him cheating, she?d add extra work outs. He could certainly use them and Cassie enjoyed exercise. She gave him several options for ways to de-stress that didn?t include smoking or drinking. He could take them or leave them as long as he didn't fall back on the unhealthy stuff.

Now to see if they could stick to it without killing each other..
