EDIT (4 May 2009) Feel free to post any comments, praise, slapstick abuse or general silliness here (or slap Frank with a Marlin). The guidelines here have been removed, and will be rewritten in a separate thread in the folder.

And remember, everyone is welcome. =) Don't be shy.

Evening. Long-time reader, first-time poster on your board. I was thinking about a plotline involving the deMuer group, their new ultra-fizzy soda, and our Corporation. Offhand, I can see interesting applications of Zeppa in torture and interrogation procedures. Thought I should run that by you.

If you'd like to work out some kind of extortion plotline, that would be a good way to link our forum plots; the deMuer family is now represented as an "investment group", one which is not in the pocket of the Bonny Corporation. With your assistance, I think some bad blood on that issue could be entertaining.

Your thoughts? You can PM me or post in our OOC thread at Taking Care of Business.

Figure dropping a note here is a better place than any other...

I'll be gone until the 5th, possibly the 6th, soaking up some sun down at the beach. No internet access, but between all the sand, the ocean, and a steady diet of margaritas, I think I'll manage to have a good time. =)

Frank-abuse - I love it. *grins*

Anyhow, I don't know where else I could talk about this, so I'll stick it up here... You might notice we're going through a few cosmetic changes that I'd like to address. Not that any of them have been problems so far, but I figured I'd provide answers for people who might have questions to see. =)

Most of the posts from the D'Mourir Family folder have recently been moved into S.P.I., and I want to stress that those have been moved with the respective D'Mourir-players' permission.

A month or two ago Alain has started using the name "DeMuer," and recently I had my handle changed to that. It's still the same old Alain, but he's using his family's ancestral name.

Shortly (hopefully) this folder will be renamed House DeMuer, and a few of the OOC threads have been renamed in anticipation of that. As Alain has been expanding his "network" a lot in the past year, he's finally decided to establish a House to better organize everything under. That particular story will become clearer as I make new posts in the coming weeks.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM. =D

Hey y'all,

Just wanted to leave a quick note and say that I won't have as much time now as I've had lately - I'm back at college for my senior year (hurrah!) and classes and associated obligations will eat up a lot, if not most, of my valuable roleplaying time. Don't worry, I will still participate in the storylines I have promised I will, and I believe I haven't forgotten about any of them, but if you think that I have, please contact me! If I've forgotten anything, it's certainly not been deliberate - I'm just that absent-minded. =)

Hey, just wanted to say I really enjoyed the "House into a home" thread!

It has a bit of sweetness that we don't often see around here, and I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you Eva-player, I'm glad you enjoyed it - it's good to do something a little different once in a while. =) And thank you also to Lirssa's player, you really did a fantastic job, and I had a lot of fun playing it out with you.

Trystal-player, I'm working on our log right now. Things have been a little screwy with my computer since I got back to school, but I'm hoping to get our post up tonight and the others that I owe other people taken care of tomorrow, ideally.

Just thought I'd put up a quote here for posterity from our dear mageling Silas, from an awesome scene I'm playing right now with Arak Kryyn and Michiko --

"The man who talked about the garden snails claimed Stephen Hawking was his grandmother."

Three things (well, good things always come in threes, don't they?):

1) Kudos first of all to the writing in this folder, and the writers of it. Fantastic stuff!

2) Kudos to Silas and his player for being an exceptionally good sport the other night with regards to the "dungeon crawl" in the RDI. That whole sequence was played totally off the cuff for me, and everything that happened was prompted by his and Tara's responses to the craziness I typed into the room.

3) More kudos to Silas for helping poor Kid Not-Doc Anya with her magical illness. Maranya will be stopping by Greyshott Place on Saturday afternoon (April 25th, 2009) to get the Cure. This should prove to be very interesting, in any and all senses of the word.

All-right, guys, I'm gonna be busy for a while yet again... I know a few posts are owed in this folder and in others, and I'll get to them as soon as possible. By Sunday evening I'll be in Georgia, where I'll be staying until the following Thursday or Friday, and in spare moments I'll put up posts as I'm able. By the 17th things ought to be back to normal - apologies for the delays!

Another quick note - I recently requested changes for this folder's moderators. Please, if this affects you, do not take it personally. I have been through a few of these changes in the past, and they always have to do with activity. Moderating allows a little pruning and other changes to be done, and it makes sense for those playing and posting more frequently to hold those positions.

Hey all, just putting it out there that I won't be around for a week or so. =) There's a certain someone that I've a mind to marry in the near future (three days and counting), and my internet access will be sporadic if I get online at all, starting tomorrow night.

1. Wedding pictures are taking a little longer than anticipated. =) Our photographer has linked us to a website where we can view them (but apparently can't copy them), and the CD with copies we can use freely hasn't arrived yet. Humbug. However, if anyone wanted a quick preview, there are a few pictures posted by our friends, however low quality.

2. I know I have a lot of stories I'm doing with a lot of people, mostly by way of Misters Alain DeMuer and Silas Greyshott, but I may actually be absent for a week or so. *cringe* We're moving, and it was indicated we wouldn't need to change our addresses with our internet provider until the eleventh hour, but we will be without service at our apartment until the 5th at least. I'm guessing it's gonna be until Friday the 7th or so until I can get back online, though I may be able to work something else out.

That's all! Everyone enjoy your weekend, and I'll see you in a week -- or earlier, with any luck!

Just as an OOC note on this thread, I wanted to clarify that I'm not looking to have any of my guys do some big invasive thing with other companies involved. I imagine it would largely involve periodically providing basic evidence to one another, possibly just 'evidence on request,' that slave labor is not involved in production, distribution and services. Again, not meant to stomp in anyone else's playground; it's intended to provide a market for customers with a strong social conscience about slavery, in a similar spirit to Fair Trade seals IRL, and provide a platform for business owners both large and small who feel the same way.

Right now I'm having my associated characters pretty much move down the list of who they themselves know to look for "founders" for the Agreement, and I'll be opening it up as a public playable at a later time, but if anyone's reading this and is interested now please feel free to post and take part in it. =) And as always, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to send me a PM.

Alain DeMuer

Date: 2011-05-16 12:48 EST
I didn't think this would be necessary, and it may not prove to be necessary anyway, but I do also want to emphasize that the Fair Labor Agreement SL is in no way a blacklist -- that is, I'm not trying to cut anyone out of any stories, nor encourage anyone else to do the same. Rather, one of the things I hope to accomplish by doing an SL with others where Alain finally gives more of a public voice to his anti-slavery sentiments is to provide something for the other side of the issue to play off of. For the most part he's made his efforts against the institution of slavery behind closed doors, and I think this is the first time he and his associates have come right out and admitted, "We oppose slavery."

So if you DO play a slaver, a bounty hunter, or a business owner who makes use of slaves, I strongly encourage you to play off of this, maybe shoot me a PM if you want to plot something out, or just pick up at random! We'd love to have you aboard. =) Lately the notorious Mr. Howe has taken a stand against the Agreement (in addition to getting up to all kinds of other mischief), and it's been a great deal of fun already.

Again, I'm not looking to cut anyone out. Please, everyone, feel free to jump in or play off of it however. A playable should be going up soon, promise!

Hey all! I know I've been absent for a while lately, so I wanted to say a few things.

First off, for anyone who's waiting on thread posts, scenes, brainstorming sessions or anything else from me, I'm very sorry I'm falling so far behind! As some of you may know, life's been a little hectic on my end -- I went from unemployment to a brand new job, and from that to switching to my old job, and now my wife's changed jobs too. Kind of turned our schedule on its head. =) Things'll settle down again soon, I'm sure, but I'm still sorting out what times are best for me to play and write, and how I'm going to make that work with the rest of y'all.

That said, if I'm dragging my feet and you want to light a fire under them, by all means! PM, AIM, e-mail, all of them are good ways to get my attention.

Alain DeMuer is the current owner of the RhyDin Hockey League's Marketplace Monocerus (sp?) and I haven't been doing a very good job of recruiting and advertising this past month! As this thread mentions, try-outs should be held by the end of July... and it looks like we're just about there already! I'll see if I can't throw up some last second ads, but given the incredibly short space of time people are being given, if there's something you'd like to do about joining or leaving or trying out and don't think there's enough time, please contact me and we'll work something out.

With any luck, I'll be able to toss up an open thread or something in the RHL folder tomorrow.

Also! I'd like to shine the spotlight on this thread, which I didn't realize was so new until I went back to copy the link to post it here. So this one's hot off the presses! Maybe I'm biased because this takes place in my favorite era, but it's a great read so far and I'm looking forward to seeing more. So if you're reading this, Charlie, keep writing!

Again, if there's anything anyone needs, wants to discuss, or if there's something you think I need to be reminded of, please feel free to contact me. Take care!

You may groan now..

because I'm telling you about my dream.

It's relevant. I promise.

It was like I was watching a T.V. show.. and it was in the middle of an episode. And Alain was there talking about how he had to get a group of mages together. But, they all had to be pure elementals.. Water, Fire, Air, Land... Then the camera panned around to Sophie who lit up a cigarette with her finger.. Apparently, Alain wants to have superhero group and form it in the back room of some shady dive bar.

So, yes, I dreamed about Alain..

I don't know why.

But, you better watch out. He's forming super sekret groups of mages. ;)

Sometimes I get the feeling that the powers that be really have a hate on for DC. First an earthquake (ok, not that big, but we're not used to them at all!), and now Hurricane Irene's steaming our way!

So if I've got things planned with you but end up a no-show, chances are the power's gone out. It probably won't be too long, but I was in Virginia during Hurricane Isabel, and that outage lasted... a week, I wanna say? So, we'll see. =) We'll hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

For those of you in the storm's path, take care!

And I also hope that House DeMuer and its many branches will be coming to Winterfest this year! Maybe even a booth or contribution, or just showing up this year? :D

If not, that's okay too! Life happens! Just fluttering about all the folders and drumming up interest this year <3

Stumbled across this today. According to the talented artist, the guy's name is Miles, and his girl is Valora. I swear these two could be Alain and Cassie, circa 2006! For any newcomers out there, Cassie was Alain's on-again-off-again girlfriend from about 2006 to 2008, and was also a lavender-haired vixen much like Valora.

Thought I'd share. =)

Just an FYI to those with characters at the scene:

- Please feel free to consider Luca's post free game. The information exchanged by him and Captain Dunhammer would be reported on by the press and would be gossip between workers at the site.

- Currently there are 4 survivors. The first three (Pedro Flores, Tavin Patries, and William Caulter) were pulled out in the first 12 hours following the accident (by 8:00 pm on 9/3) and the last (Michelle Ross) was pulled out a short time ago.

- 16 bodies have so far been recovered and identified (Timothy Alder, Edwin Davis, Ilyich Drasnov, Rachel Fowler, Dobrai Garhaikhan, Lucas Harding, Jean Kroeger, Phyllis Kerr, Justin LeBlanc, Richard Jensen, Allen Marshall, Grant O'Harra, Uster Phelitha, Alvin Prescott, Elena Sigua, and Cina Valyara).

- That leaves a total of 21 people still unaccounted for.

- Over the next 24 hours, 13 more bodies will be recovered but no survivors. The names of those bodies recovered won't be released to the press until a press conference at 8 pm tomorrow evening. And I'll make sure to post an OOC update tomorrow night with those names and any other info that comes up.

- You're welcome to respond to the governor's announcements and have reasonable altercations with the Watch in response to the Watch refusing to allow citizens within the cordoned off block. Also, the Watch isn't perfect! If you're character sneaks to the site, that is fine. Just please don't alter it without speaking with us first!

Thanks for playing along!

Update:

- It has now been 60 hours since the collapse of the SPI building. Search and rescue operations continue. However, as Koy and Luca's posts suggest, the mood on the scene is getting pretty hopeless.

- No new survivors were found today. That means that there are still only 4 survivors with the last one being recovered 24 hours ago.

- Captain Dunhammer held a press conference at 8:00 pm to read through the names added to the list of dead. 13 bodies were recovered but only 10 have been identified (Jon Billingslea, Lucia DiParma, Maria Lopes, Molly MacRae, Philip Roth, Leanna Smithson, Jonathan Tremain, David Williamson, Paul Ygabe, and Ruth Zimmermann).

- This means there are 11 are still missing or recovered but unidentified (Donia Arevan, Ana Christensen, Colton Daniels, Arshan Elia, Nith Galienes, Annie-Love Harper, Donald Mooney, Patricia Nielsen, Peter Oliend, David Smith, and Kathryn Williams)

- In the 8:00 pm press conference Captain Dunhammer also addressed the rumor that one of the unidentified bodies belonged to Colton Daniels. He advised the media that there was some circumstantial evidence to suggest one of the bodies belonged to Colt Daniels but that the identification and notification process was still ongoing.

- A press conference has also been scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8:30 am -- almost exactly 72 hours after the collapse. Rumors abound at the site and through various news agencies as to what will be announced at that time. So far the Watch and SPI have been silent on the issue. Luca will have a post up tomorrow morning on that! As usual, the information in Luca's posts can all be considered rumors on the scene or reported on by the press.

Again, thank you to everyone who is participating and contact any of us if you have any questions or ideas!

Update:

- It has now been 72 hours since the collapse of the SPI building. Captain Dunhammer just announced that the search and rescue mission has become a recovery mission.

- No survivors have been found since Tuesday at 8 pm. That means that there are still only 4 survivors with the last one being recovered more than 36 hours ago.

- Overnight 3 new bodies (Donia Arevan, Nith Galienes, and Patricia Nielsen) were recovered and the 3 unidentified bodies were identified (Ana Christensen, Donald Mooney, and Kathryn Williams). That leaves a total count of 32 bodies recovered. Colton Daniels was ruled out as among the bodies recovered.

- This means there are 5 that are still missing (Colton Daniels, Arshan Elia, Annie-Love Harper, Peter Oliend, and David Smith)

- Again, all this information is being openly reported in the press!

- All hands are going to be needed on deck this evening, though! I'll post the last update about 7ish.

I have to wake up very early each morning. Last night I couldn't stop myself reading Jane Bunbury's posts and stayed up way late as a result. I spent my morning news-and-cereal time finishing catching up. Now I'm tired and it's all because of Jane and her writing. She should be ashamed.

(no she shouldn't - read her thread here)

Hey everyone! I'll be out of town from around Christmas until New Year's, so if you need anything e-mail me -- I don't know what my internet access will look like, but I should be able to check e-mails from my phone easy enough. Take care, and happy holidays!

I don't know as much as I should about the duels, especially when it comes to ranks, but the thread Proximity and this post in particular have me curious -- click the links in that post, too! The scenes between Harris and Seirichi are pretty awesome. This post by Koy involves the Opals too and is also excellent.

Awesome writing, you three. =) Anyone who hasn't already, start reading!

Bump.

2013 was not a very good year for me, and my role-playing and community participation/engagement definitely suffered for it. I've been on a break from DM since December, and although I'm "back" now, a lot's changed for me since then.

I'm devoting more of my time and energy to independent writing. I'm going to resume a few ongoing storylines here and elsewhere, but I think that's as much as I should take on. This remains an open folder! Feel free to ask questions, start threads, etc. I am only one of the players involved here, so I'm only speaking for myself when I say that I still won't be around that much and will be trying much harder not to bite off more than I can chew.

I've been talking to the other players in the Ad Lucem SL recently, so for those of you who have been following that, you should be seeing new posts in the coming weeks. =)

Good luck easing back into things, and I hope to see you publishing stories again real soon.

Greetings DeMuer and DeMuer affiliates! The past week or so I've been working on a bit of a love letter to what I regarded as a very fun and very special SL centered around refugees caught up in a legal battle by a corrupt firm that was extorting them for their finances and leaving them homeless for a period of time. Oh my! It was my idea to relocate them to Saint Aldwin as a means for me to move writing and RPing to there at some point and explore this lush world my friend had been pouring so many buckets of his creativity into, but it never got that far. I got busy with other things and was not the most focused player on this site by any means, and I assume Alain-mun was also busy. Years have gone by, characters have aged and matured, and we as writers have aged and matured (I hope!), and moving on to other things now, I still had this itch that I had to scratch. Sure the refugees were saved, sure they were relocated, and sure it was fine that all of this was either vapored or subtly mentioned. But no one had gone on the ground and visited them and confirmed firsthand just what became of the refugees from the "shelter camps of the Northern Forest of Rhy'Din." What resulted turned into this modest love letter I feel to bring a believable, informative, cute, and respectful conclusion to what happened after the Camp: Devotion SL, and just what became of its players.

It is one of my fondest memories writing the tail ends of that particular story, and seeing its details referenced and plugged and mentioned here and there afterward were some of the most joyous feelings from my collaborative experiences on this site - no doubt inspiration behind what enabled to me to see this particular project through. It was also my great adoration for Alain-mun, who despite my not being able to keep up with his impressive vocabulary (remember my brain rebooting when you explained what a thinktank was?), continued to communicate and interact with me. I'm indebted to him for his kindness, and friendship, and I hope we can chat again some day and write together again. Until then, however, I hope anyone familiar with the Vanderhorst scandal will check out this short I threw together. If not, that's okay. I'd love to polish it a little more, but it'll have to do for right now. :)

Up Around the Blend

Such moments in this story include respectful homage to a scene from Backdraft I always envisioned Vanderhorst's arrest going like. I relayed it to Alain-mun how he should be arrested, mentioning the film, and to my disappointment he informed me he hadn't seen it! Well, though spoiler-ish, I have pulled the scene from the wonders of the internet, and it can be viewed Here. Imagine, if you will, a crisp Baron of Saint Aldwin entering a press conference of the Villainous Vanderhorst with his trusty Dwarven Mountain Lord comrade in tow, the Knights of the Holy Order of St. Aldwin behind him, slapping the evidence down on the table for everyone to see and then taking the crook to justice! Oh I saw this scene clear as day when it first came to me, and it was my joy to finally tell it (in smaller detail) with this story.

As with Saint Aldwin geography, I tried to respectfully avoid mentioning things I had little or no knowledge of, and the liberties I did take with the world of Drasill I tried to also be respectful and modest with what I engineered. I tried to do my research. :)

The story was fun, and is not necessarily nor does it have to be considered canon. It was something, however, I felt I had to write. So again, I hope you enjoy, Scott. All my love my dear friend. Let's talk soon.

Happy writing.

- Eric

Thanks, you guys! <3

Yeah, we're back, we've got a new SL we're working on, as well as something more playable-friendly that builds off of what Soph and I played in "Heart and Hearthstone."

Also, if you want to play something specific, have an idea we could do together that you want to hash out, etc., hit me up! Alain and I are both down for some good old-fashioned skullduggery. ^^
