Trinala had left the inn soon after ?Ugly? made his way up to his room. She might have lingered longer but Rena hadn?t seemed in the chattiest of moods, which put Trinala?s attention back to the task at hand. She was supposed to be working a case for Detective Alain and it was very important, otherwise he wouldn?t have given it to her. The little pixie was set on not failing Detective Alain!

Leaving the Red Dragon Inn, she made her way back to the attic where she had been staying with her two sisters. The plan was that she would catch a few hours of sleep before going back to the inn to gather her partner. Trinala was sure that Detective Alain had put her on the case with ?Ugly? to make sure he stayed in line. Giggling, she wondered what her partner would think of that.

Sleep didn?t require much time. Good for Trinala?though perhaps less so in the mind of Malcolm, the man whose window she was knocking on until he woke up. Darkness still claimed the sky and daylight was a few hours away? but she knew it was time to go to work!

"Oh holy hell what is it!?" He rolled over in his bed to look out the window, only to see the pixie there, happily waking him up at this ungodly hour. "Go the f*ck away!" He even through a pillow at the window, but she seemed far to enthusiastic this early in the morning so he opened the window for her, his blankets wrapped around his waist.

"Jesus christ! What time is it?" There was only a half a seconds pause. "Nevermind, don't answer that." He shook his head, trying to clear the cobwebs, from his only several hours of sleep. Leaning across the bed, he located a t-shirt and threw it on backwards, before correcting its placement.

He stood, almost ready due to sleeping in his jeans, and even his boots as he did most nights. 'Never know when your gonna need to wake up and move fast', he had always told himself. He did his best to ignore Trinala as he slipped on his shoulder holster, followed by his jacket, and tucked his hand cannon away within.

"So where did you wanna start this investigation then ki... sorry, Trinala." Even at this early hour he was hoping to get this to run as smoothly as possible. He didn't need any extra sh*t on his first case in this land. "I mean do you have any leads on this guy yet?" He grabbed his handcuffs and his binoculars, making sure he had everything he needed right away.

Once she was in the room, Trinala flew about its interior as Malcolm got up and got himself together. Landing now and then on the furnishing or on his person. Finally she completely settled down on the night stand when he seemed ready to go. Was it annoying that not only was she up at this hour, but wide awake and full of energy as well? Standing on her two feet, her wings still moving somewhat at her back, a huge grin.

"I don't know, Ugly. I was thinking we could go have a nice breakfast at Teas n'Tomes and maybe we'd find a cluew there." A pause, then her eyes widened as though she had been struck by genius, "Oh! Oh! OR! We could go to the docks cause that's were the baddie is and we're supposed to be looking in on it." Trinala rolled her eyes, lifting up and now landing on Malcolm's head. She sat and rapped her knuckles against his skull, softly speaking to herself. "Hm. Doesn't sound empty."

A shrug.

"You ready or what?"

He let out an irritated sigh. "Alright Trin. These 'Ugly' and stupid remarks need to stop, right about now. Got it?" He knew she wouldn't listen and she did indeed annoy him to no end. He gave a backhanded wave over his head to clear away the pixie.

"How about we go to the tea shop and get a bite to eat and you can take a gander at the file on the case before I let you go running off announcing we are on the 'Baddies' tail?" He scoffed at the thought of having to work with the little one. " 'Sides I aint no good to no one without some breakfast and at least some coffee."

He pulled the door open, waving toward the opening absently. "Yeah kid I'm ready."

As he closed the door he was muttering under his breath. "It's gonna be a damn long day."

Chased from the top of his head, Trinala flew about Malcolm. Going through the door and lingering about him while his two legs carried them slowly where they were headed. Only a few remarks about the pace before he 'kindly' told her to stop.

Teas n'Tomes provided another problem, as the proprietor was under the impression that Trinala had stolen the bell to their front door. They weren't entirely wrong. But on the occasion that Trinala stole the bell she put it back! She had witnesses! A witness. A witness that wasn't available to vouch for her at that particular moment. So Malcolm got to enjoy his breakfast to the comforting sounds of a yelling pixie and Teas n'Tome personel going back and forth. Finally, a very grumpy Trinala joined Malcom after she agreed to replace the stupid bell and remained quietly muttering to herself and glaring back at the folks behind the counter between perusing the pages of the file. Her mood only improving when her companion got up to leave.

"About time!"

Again he suffered her talking about how slow he was. When he got her to shut up about it she started quietly proving it to him by flying ahead and then waiting for him to catch up. A game was made out of it and the game was called, 'I win.' Trinala playing it with her unwilling partner until they reached the docks. Then a serious manner overtook her.

Flying near the rooftops, when she wasn't easily placed against the sky nor noticed high above the heads of any others that could be about. She stayed near the edge of a wall, peeking around and figuring out where she was. A silent wave to Malcolm to follow, before turning the corner into an alley.

Well breakfast had truly been a pleasant affair. At least with all the yelling he got to enjoy his coffee and cake in peace. Yes he was used to a lot of yelling and it really had no effect on him. Plus he enjoyed seeing Trinala in a huff. In truth he probably took too much enjoyment out of it, but the way he saw it she deserved all she got.

"Yeah yeah yeah." He waved dismissivly at Trinala's comments about his speed, in Teas 'n Tomes, and of course all the way to the damn dockside.

Once there he followed Trinala simply because she was sure to know the area better than he. He still couldnt help but laugh at her sneaking techniques. He was certain not to be known as an S.P.I. employee so he merely wandered around as if he were new to the place and looking around. Both of which happened to be true.

Out of the corner of his eye he caught Trinala's wave and slowly walked into the alley, making sure he was not being watched before doing so. "A'right Trin... whats the deal here now? This the place that Domingo works out of or what?" For all he knew she could still be playing her game of 'I win', though she did seem a bit more serious now that they had reached the docks.

He made sure to secure his gear as he awaited her answer. The .50 desert eagle was snapped into the holster and he tucked it deeper under his arm to make it less noticable. He also made sure his handcuffs were secure on his belt so as not to jingle if he needed to be completely silent. When all was done he looked up to the pixie again.

"Well?"

Up near the top of the building, Trinala glared down at him. Swiftly returning to his side, a small finger over her lips.

"Sh!" Moving her finger away, she floated near his ear and quietly snapped. "You have to be quiet! Here." Then tugging him into a space between several tall crates that would further hide him from sight if someone happened to look down the alley. Flying in front of him, she quietly explained. "This is the place, yes. I'm going to go up through that window and scout out inside. An'if it's clear I will come down here and unlock the door for you. Either way - it'd be good t'know the layout of the interior and how many guys are in there." Nod, nod, nod.

"Okay! See you in a few!" Off into the air she went again, back to the upper levels of the building. One moment she's there - the next she's gone.

He laughed at her then. "Thought I was being quiet. Not everyones voice can be as minute as yours Trin."

He listened to Trin's plan with mild disinterest. "Okay so your gonna..." And she was gone up to the second level before he could even finish. Letting out an irritated sigh he leaned back against the wall of the building and took a toothpick out of an inside pocket and began chewing on it. He wasn't about to give away his position by lighting a cigarette.

And just as he though of that a man... a guard it seemed started a slow walk down the alley.

'Sh*t!' It was only a thought though it rang loudly in his skull. He was trapped between the two crates and the man was getting closer every second. Without another place to go he sank back further into the shadows pulling his black trenchcoat up around his face, as the man walked by and looked right at him.

"F*ck!' He thought again, closing a hand around his gun. He seemed to be staring right at Malcolm, though after several moments he simply continued on his way. Well at least now he knew they patrolled this alleyway.

"Hurry up Trin." He whispered to himself.

Inside the lights were mute, Trinala doing her best to stay under the cover that the slight darkness provided. Upstairs she did a thorough search of what rooms she could. Carefuly not to gain the attention of the few men she came across, though there were a number of near calls.

Heart racing she made her way to the lower level, now finding were the bulk of the man's goons lingered. It was harder to search the lower level and failing to find the man from the picture in the file, Trinala searched out the door that Malcolm was waiting behind.

Unfortunately, someone was already there. A big man with a big gun, she hide away from sight wishing in her head for him to go away. Someone must have heard her prayers as noised brought the man's attention away from the door and soon motivated him to leave his post. Happily, Trinala made for the door and undid the locks for Malcolm. A glance over her shoulder as she was about to leave revealed that what had gained all the attention was the arrival of a large truck, fully loaded with unmarked wooden boxes. She debeated about getting close to see the contents or going back to Malcolm. She still didn't know when the Don Guy was.

A mental grump, there were too many men about for the moment. Trinala, vanished from inside and reappeared in the alley amongst the boxes she had left Malcolm hiding in.

"Back!" She announced quietly.

Malcolm breathed a sigh of relief when Trinala finally came back. "Good thing too. They got a patrol runnin' through this alley. Don't know when he's comin' back 'round though."

To accentuate his point he looked down the alley in each direction, to make sure they weren't being snuck up on. "So whats the scoop Trin? How many guys in there? Did you see Dom? What are they doing?" He laughed softly at his rapid fire questions. Maybe the pixie was rubbing off on him.

He pulled the .50 desert eagle from his shoulder holster, making sure it was loaded and the safety was off. He frowned slightly, wishing he had some sort of silencer, but decided to put the gun away and only use it as a last resort. He looked around the crates nearby hoping to find a makeshift weapon, as he awaited a response from Trinala.

TinyTrouble

Landing on his shoulder she replied to his questions as she asked them. "There are at least twenty-five guys... that I saw. I didn't see the Dom. They were getting boxes off the big truck." Fluttering her wings. "I didn't have time to see what the boxes had in them cause there were too many guys and I didn't know when the guy covering the door would come back. Oh.. there's a guy covering the door." Pointing back at said door, incase he thought she meant some other door.

Wings fluttering nervously on her back, she looked back and forth... though from her vantage point she couldn't see anything of note.

"What's the plan?"

Malcolm Drayke

Turning to look her in the eye as she sat on his shoulder he shrugged slightly. "Well I could always run in guns a blazin' and hope I don't get cut down. Then again if we can sneak back inside there is a chance we can sneak around and find the Dom and just take 'em out first."

He shrugged again, not completely sure of the layout within the building anyhow. "I don't know really. Ya think ya can sneak me in there without anyone on the first floor noticing?" He still wasn't too confident of Trinala's helping him but he would have to go with it for now.

"Otherwise like I said... I can run in and gun down as many as possible before it gets ugly." He chuckled softly knowing it was a bad idea to start with.

Trinala shook her head at his 'guns a blazin' idea. "Detective Alain wanted evidence and if we go in there like that we might screw everything up and that would make Detective Alain mad and I don't want to do that." A pause as she thought it out. "Maybe you could sneak in and find the guy or documents or something? There are plenty of things to hide behind. The guy at the door might still be gone... they were all gathering at the big truck. Oh! Maybe we could steal a box from the truck when they're done with it? Do you think that would make Detective Alain happy?"

Malcolm Drayke

?We?ll see when we get in there.? Without another word he crossed the alley and quietly opened the door. Slipping inside he waited long enough for Trinala to follow, though she could always get back in her way. Lucky for him the guard hadn?t returned yet. He was still over by the truck.

Malcolm found his way behind a shelving unit, more like a rack for holding crates, to take a better look at how many men were by the truck and how many others were in view. He started his count on a hand, and then two, and then simply ran out. Not the right time to be taking your boots off. ?14 in total.? He muttered quietly to himself. ?Now what to do from here??

There were 9 men, including the door guard, near the truck and they were beginning to unload the crates from the back. The other 5 were scattered about, two on the ground floor, and the other three standing on catwalks or balconies looking over the loading area. He would need to be careful with his movements, and make sure to keep the sound to a minimum.

He looked over his shoulder but didn?t see Trinala right away. ?Trin?? He called out in a soft whisper. ?You here??

Again the pixie appeared on his shoulder, her small arms wrapped securely around a set of keys to keep them from making sound. Whether she collected the keys to be helpful or because they were shiny was anyone's guess. "Here I am!"

Wings fluttering at her back as she grinned at him, then looked around. "Maybe we can hide here and wait for them to go away. They might go away." Trinala offered helpfully. "What do you think these keys are for?"

Malcolm Drayke

Date: 2008-03-13 19:33 EST
He took the keys from the little one, wrapping them in his fingers, continuing the theme of silence. "Lets find out huh."

The first two ground floor guards were a sinch to get past, standing in place and watching the unloading of the truck. Malcolm reminded himself to get a peek at those crates before they left. He found his way to a ground level door and began trying key after key. "Trin, keep lookout will ya?" The fourth out of eight keys and the door came open. Slowly he opened it enough to squeeze through, fearing a loud creak at any moment.

One step inside and there they were. It was a stockpile of weaponry, that of the likes he hadnt seen since the evidence room of the Miami PD. Maybe this was all they needed, but he would take a closer look anyhow. He allowed enough time for Trin to follow him in before slowly closing the door, turning the knob to make sure not even a click would sound.

"Do you think this is enough evidence?" His voice was still a whisper as he ran a hand over an assault rifle.

TinyTrouble

Trinalla gave a slight frown at the weapons. While they were something she didn't think showing up with them would please Alain very much. A shake of her head, she began to flutter around... looking for something more.

Something more was found in a corner, stuffed behind a few crates and almost completely out of sight. A safe. "Here. This thing! They had one at Knuckles. Mean Tommy would keep important stuff in it." She grinned and nodded and then vanished from view.

Only faint sounds can be heard from inside the safe, then Trinala back back outside of it arms full. Papers spreading her small arms wide apart. "Malcolm. This stuff - this will be good, I think. What do you think?" Dropping the documents before him.

Malcolm Drayke

Date: 2008-03-23 23:45 EST
Picking up the documents he flipped through them, briefly looking over each page in turn but spending no great amount of time on any one in particular. Shipping and recieving lists, bios on several of the hired thugs, and even an inventory of the warehouse. He turned to Trin with a smile as he rolled up the papers and tucked them into his jacket.

"This is perfect Trin. I think this is exactly the kind of thing that Alain was hoping for. We should get this back to him as soon as possible."

He turned around then, heading for the door when he saw a shadow through the shaded window on the door. Taking a step to the side of the door he gritted his teeth and waited, praying whoever it was would just walk on by. After several seconds had passed he raised a brow to the pixie.

"Sh*t! Are they still there?"

His voice was barely above a whisper and he truly hoped whoever it was had continued on their way.

"Um... let me go see." Before he could protest or agree the pixie was gone, vanished from the room. For a few moments silence followed. Then there were the loud cries of men and gunfire, many footsteps could be heard moving outside before all went quiet once more. It was then that the pixie reappeared, wearing a wide grin. "Not anymore!"
