Routine cases would have meant something if they didn't happen in a place like Rhy'Din.

But even with all of the gargoyle slayings and ridiculously dangerous Wife Finds Husband Cheating scenarios, the nights were long and tedious when Abby was behind the desk and not out Scooby Dooing it up with the rest of the Night Owls. The minutiae of each case, the hours spent picking away at pieces of even the most obvious of clues numbed Miss Dekker's chaotic brain.

And she absolutely loved that.

So Mr. Liss?s?l had been dooping his business partner out of ungodly amounts of money for the last five years. Mr. Liss?s?l was obviously craftier than his partner. And so what if said partner, one Mr. Arcamenel, had called them in tears because he had no one to turn to? He should have been more astute. But Mr. Arcamenel was paying them, not Mr. Liss?s?l, and it just so happened that Mr. Liss?s?l wasn't as smart or as crooked as she and Mr. Arcamenel had thought.

A totally legal paper snooping found that Mr. Nerwen Liss?s?l drove a truck so rusted and so old that the only thing holding it together was prayer. He lived brownstone that was nice, granted, but where the expenses were shared with his much wealthier wife, one Mrs. Lorraine Liss?s?l, nee Rogers, heiress to the Rogers and Grafelsnerk paint fortune.

Another questionable dive into his medical records brought to light Mr. Liss?s?l was also over seven hundred years old, exhibited signs of at least three forms of dementia and was going blind in both eyes.

Talking to the man revealed that not only did he think that elves were superior and that anyone else could 'suck it', but also that he was incredibly horrible with numbers.

Mr. Arcamenel, when informed of all of this, feigned shock- Abby could spot a liar from space- and when the numbers were added up, when the questions were turned on him, he hung up the phone and left WestEnd.

That was when things became a bit less structured for Abby..
