Mary watched with those supernatural ice blue eyes (the color they often were when intensely focused) the ones that could be so cold sometimes, and others soft as they were full of love and compassion. It was a strange mix to those people who did not understand what went on in the heart of a vampire, which was not so unlike that of a human... She could not let down her gaurd but all the same she watched with nothing short of adoration and worship as her lady love made the preparations for the upcoming meeting, helping where she could. As usual when Anne was having guests she was sparing nothing to make sure that everything was perfect and in place, they would have anything they might need or desire. She could tell though that this time, for this gathering she was particularly going out of her way.
The largest conference room was being used as they didn't know how many people to expect and it was being set up to make them very comfortable indeed. Anne's focus always amazed even Mary, who was so dedicated in everything she did. Anne always put in great attention to detail when she was entertaining others and Mary loved how it never managed to make her nervous yet it did always take a lot of energy. She smiled at Anne as she made her pause to kiss her softly; stroking her cheek with a gentle hand as they shared a moment before getting back to work. The meeting would take place at sundown and they would be ready. Though she couldn't help her thoughts drifting a bit to everything that had happened recently. Being a vampire with a completely different concept of time than mortals a long engagement wasn't unusual but with what was going on now perhaps they should speed things up?
It seemed they had more than one war on their hands, neither of which had they done anything to provoke. One started in the Red Dragon Inn while having a nice drink. Insults had been flung their way for no apparent reason. Then a declaration of war had been made which came down to, "Us or them." What was to be done? But, at least that was straight forward. What had happened now was just cowardice. Low.
Gabriel had attacked them in the middle of the night in an attempt to surprise them and, she supposed, even possibly kill them. Did he really want her dead? She had never done anything to him. In fact she had always helped him when she could, even protecting those graves that had seemed to matter so much to him. Well at least so long as he wasn't hurting her family. When he had messed with Calico's head she could not get in the way... Calico was like a daughter to her and she would do anything for her. But she had thought that was water under the bridge... Of course Gabriel changed so often it was hard to keep track of who he was.
Perhaps this was all over saving the life of her beloved friend Bob? If this was there were many worse reasons to make enemies than saving a life and she knew if the choice came she would do it again without a thought. She loved and respected him, he had always done right by her and everyone she had ever come in contact with. She could not say the same for others she knew? He had never even asked them for a thing in return for all his kindness and what he had done now had touched her yet again though it did not surprise her. It meant more to her then words could express that he would do so much to protect his friends. Just like her.
Mary had a heart of gold and would protect those that mattered to her till the end. If this was a fault then they would have to attack her for it, she would defend her company, her friends, her family. Nothing would stop her, she would do everything that was in her power...
