There wasn't a whole lot that Alex knew about the Bonny Corp. except that Cadence had once worked for them. The rumors were as they were and Alex didn't have time for speculations about that. He was hoping for something, some clue or way that would help him find the little one. He was worried for her.

He was worried for his mother. Sha'uri was in deep this time but there was nothing at the moment he could do about it. Alex shook his head as he came up the walk trying to push the matter aside in his mind. He could've called, but he wanted to make the inquiry in person. The gate loomed before him. He quickly found the buzzer and soon was a feminine voice inquiring of him to state name and business he had with Bonny Corp.

"Alex Arrowny here of the Exodian Fleet. I'm in need of some information and would speak with the owner of the place if possible. It concerns one Cadence Maycom, an employee here, or that she was." His baritone voice inquired.

To that he wasn't sure. He waited patiently for a reply, gaze shifting round while he took in the surroundings with more details.

Was it coincidence or something more? Hard to say. A flash of movement so quick above the Bonnie Corp building left nothing to see but the body of an Orc dropping out of nowhere from several hundred feet above. It landed squarely impaled upon one of the lightning rods on the roof. The sound of the orc's screams were cut almost instantly. Those nearby, especially right under the impact point, could hear the thud of the body as it slid down the lightning shaft and hit the rooftop. Where did it come from and how did it break in past the Corp's defenses?

There was some rapid activity in response to the penetration of the shield. Yet as soon as Mary had ascertained that there was no apparent immediate danger her mind could only think of one thing ? this mysterious man who knew Cadence. Mary looked intently at Mei, her eyes flashing green. ?You make inquires while I meet our guest.?

Mei paused for a moment, this was most unusual for her to go out when they had people for such things. She knew there must be good reasons for it though. Not wanting to delay her anymore she would nod quickly before moving out of the room. A dozen armed, scantily clad, to die for beauties fell in step behind her outside the hall. They moved to join the guards on the roof who were already up to inspect the orc. Alex may notice them up there, as well as a few sweeping the grounds now.

Mary meanwhile moved with superhuman speed through the building, muttering curses under her breath when she had to wait for the slow elevator to open and teleport her to the warehouse next door. Out the front door she moved, slowing down before reaching Alex at the gate so as not to alarm him. She was in her usual all leather garb, armed to the teeth of course. Yet her smile was friendly, despite her tension and her fiercely glowing eyes. ?Alex Arrowny - it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Mary Read. Any friend of Cadence is a friend of mine.?

?Please come in.? A glance was given to the guards through the bars of the gate. ?I?m afraid you seem to have caught us in an awkward moment? We?ll be safe inside; we can talk and make better introductions there.? Indeed Mary wondered about the timing - his arrival and this unprecedented event - surly it was no coincidence. But whether friend or foe, Mary had to take a chance on this. Else risk losing whatever information he may bring with him.

She would lead him swiftly to the apparently abandoned warehouse from whence she came. They would have time for more pleasantries once they were inside the protection of the building. Should that protection hold of course...

The movement was caught out of the corner of his eye. Green hues flashed towards the sky as the sound of an orc screaming soon followed. Though his gaze lingered only long enough to determine the orc was about to be impaled, he was not quick enough to catch sight of what it was that the orc fell from. Yet something felt out of place... even more so then the orc itself falling from the sky. His sense of time seemed to waver and blur momentarily making him feel off balance....

The shuffle of a foot by one of the guards brought his gaze back to the fence before him just in time to see the reason for the shuffle. The woman approaching was clearly one of authority by the way the guards seemed to stiffen. It wasn't that they had been relaxed, far from it, just that it was obvious to Alex that she was their commander.

"I appreciate that you have taken the time to see me. I do have a matter of importance to discuss with you." His gaze flickered briefly towards the impaled orc but he allowed himself to smirk gently, humor touching the depth of his baritones. "Awkward is one way to put it. One usually doesn't expect to see bodies falling from the sky. Hopefully one orcdrop will not lead to a downpour of them atop of us all. I didn't bring the right umbrella for that."

He waited for the guards to open the gate before he stepped through to follow her, leaving any weapons behind that they would not allow him to take inside. A phaser and a dagger was all that he carried on him, both were fairly placed in plain sight upon his person. What he had to say could wait for a more appropriate time and place. He let her determine that moment. His gaze keenly took in every detail of the place as they went. It was already clear that the apparently abandoned warehouse wasn't so abandoned. It almost reminded him of home on Exodii... home within the Exodian Forces Compound.

Mary was nothing if not efficient and would go through the motions quickly. Leading him first to the warehouse to begin the process. After key codes and fingerprints she would lead him into to the elevator in silence. Another set of numbers were typed in, and without any apparent physical movement taking place, the door opposite the one they came in would open. She then led him down a hallway to one of the smaller conference rooms.

It was cozy. Leather chairs and a couch with a long glass table between them. Off to one side was a bar set with all manner of bottles and glasses. A scantily clad slave was waiting there, attired in a most alluring chainmail dress? but Mary dismissed her with a kind but hurried smile.

Mary?s attention returned to Alex as she stepped behind the bar. ?We can always bring the girl back of course? but let us speak privately first.? A brow arched as she took in his appearance more carefully, assessing all details she could in a sweep that settled last on his eyes. The windows to the soul. What did his eyes tell of him? She would pour herself a glass of rum without shifting her gaze.

?Please, make yourself at home. Have a drink, take a seat, and let me know what it is I can do for you.? Though she tried to appear relaxed, her eyes were intense and eager to learn what had brought Alex here? and what he knew of the fate of her lost sister.

Mei Mei and the security team converged on the roof to inspect the body of the orc that had been impaled on one of the lightning rods that adorned the Bonny Corporation when it fell from the sky.
They were there to figure out the origin of the body, maybe if they could determine that they could figure out what had caused the breach in the shield.

As they inspected the body they realized that they were being surrounded by shadowy figures resembling? Lamas? They looked very much like lamas, though they had red eyes and razor sharp teeth, a mixture of demon and lama perhaps. Acid dripped from their teeth, sizzling on the roof as they stared intently at the body of the fallen orc.
Mei Mei and her team backed away from the body, they were not sure where these demon lamas had come from, but their intent was easily guessed. As they moved away the lamas swarmed around the body, making quick work of devouring every sign that it had been there. When they were finished there was no sign at all of what had happened, not even blood remained, though there were parts of the rod that had been melted by the acid saliva from the lamas when they licked the blood off.

While the lamas were nosing around, looking for any splatters of blood that they might have missed, one of the guards approached, reaching out his hand to touch the shadowy body of a lama. The startled animal quickly spun around, spitting acid in the face of the guard, who fell to the ground screaming as his skin melted. The group of lamas converged on the fallen guard, and before anyone could react they had devoured his body as quickly as they had done the orc body before.

There was a shrill whistle from the grounds below, coming from a small figure of a woman, the lamas instantly began to blur, forming into an indistinguishable mist, which floated and down from the roof then reformed in to the creatures around the woman, she patted them affectionately while scolding them for interfering with the investigation. With a wave of her hand she dismissed them to the newly built stables, where she locked them in.

Mary's comment about the slave brought a grin to his lips.

His gaze lingered only briefly on the scantily clad slave, which made him all that more conscious of the grey and blue shipsuit he was wearing. The woman seemed in good health, one that had been cared for properly. And she seemed to him to be a willing slave, or so he thought he sensed from her. Her beauty did not go unnoticed, yet Alex was glad for the dismissal. He agreed to the privacy with a cordial nod bringing the gaze of his emerald hues back to Mary.

Moving to the other side of the bar, he looked to her now.
"A drink would be appreciated, but I think I'll keep it light. Just a simple iced tea, Thanks."

It would be easy for Alex to think she was unemotional if not for the intensity in her gaze. His was a calm demeanor, his emerald hues keen taking in every detail. But clearly Alex was more of the quiet type of person, though that flicker of worry was not completely hidden. When his drink was made he moved to the couch to sit down.

Clearly, he seemed to struggle with were to begin as he sat shifting his cape to sit comfortably. A sip of his tea helped soothe his parched throat, which he cleared gently before speaking.

"I am worried for the little fae. Cadence has been missing for several months. At first we didn't think too much of it, she is known to disappear on sabbatical for research on a whim. We were hoping that was the case or that perhaps she came back to work one of her old jobs like here or at Ravensheart Academy. Recently we've discovered otherwise. We think her room.. her pocket dimensional room, the one that someone named Bob gave her.. has gone.." he paused to find the right word.

"Haywire." he nodded, satisfied with the description.

"We have gotten scans of her and that room flickering in and out of sight, jumping not only spacial distance but there is strong evidence of time and perhaps even universes or other dimensions. This is why the Jumpgates have been restricted lately. You know that orc who fell on your roof? I have a good hunch that it came from her room... she probably picked him up during that incident with the Abbey south of RhyDin recently. Her room cut through someone else's Gated portal to the battle field and rerouted it taking with it some of the orcs that were passing through it at the time. We need to find something, or somethings, to help us tie into her and her room so we can help her. We were hoping that you might have something that could help us do that."

Alex?s observations were correct. All the slaves at Bonny were willing and very well cared for. In fact, Mary?s adopted daughter Mei used to be one of them. So, she knew them all on a personal level from working side by side with them.

After seeing to his drink she would sit in the chair opposite him. She listened in absolute attentiveness, stillness and silence to his assessment. As he spoke her eyes shifted from that vibrant green to a cold and steely ice blue. This was the color they became when she pushed her emotions down and focused all her energy into pure intellectual calculations. A trait that had saved many a lives over the years - Mary?s ability to be rational no matter how personal the situation may be.

At his last words about needing something to tie into Cadence her hand moved slowly but deliberately to her corset, fingers reached between her breasts. Close to her heart she kept two possessions that were sacred to her, virtually no one knew of these items... If there was to be any hope for Cadence they had to act, and she would need Alex?s help. There wasn't time to worry about whether it was safe to reveal these secrets. So, with care she pulled out the first, a crimson crystal on a necklace and held it up with her right hand for Alex to see.

?This was something that was also crafted by the magic of Bob and given to a small group of women he counted as friends. Cadence should have one as well and we may be able to create a link between us so that I can join her inside her portal?? Mary?s gaze was focused past the crystal and locked on Alex?s eyes. After a brief pause she added, ?I have some very specific magical skills but this is not something I am entirely sure how to do myself so I will need help. Can we work with this??

There was still the matter of getting them back of course? But first things first, so before saying more she waited for his response.

He had been studying her eyes until her fingers reached between her breasts. Calm hues shifted with a spark of interest for the bauble Mary revealed to him. The crimson crystal was an unusual cut and color. Some would've mistook it for some kind of ruby, but Alex could sense that it was far more then just that. His gaze locked on the item as he tried to recall if he had ever seen Cadence with something like that. Finally he shook his head.

"I honestly do not recall ever seeing her with something exactly like that. Although, now that you mention it, there was a teardrop shaped ruby she used to wear around her neck, a very different cut and slightly different color from yours. I'm not so sure it was the same thing though. It could've been something from Master Ravensheart. But I couldn't say for certain. Perhaps the Master can aid us in the magical area. If anything, since that bauble you have is something from Bob, and Cadence's room was something initially created by Bob, we could possibly use the one to tie into the other, even if she doesn't have the other bauble. While I'm versed enough to enhance technology with magic, the Master is the master in the magical field... well, the only one I know I can rely on. I have a hunch he would be very interested in getting her back safely as well. If we can get his help, I think we've all got the skills to get her back safely. However, there was no love lost between the Master and Bob. Still, I think he would be willing to work with you. Would you be willing to work with the Master in this effort?"

Mary took a brief pause to process his words, thinking carefully on her answer, weighing the dangers of waiting versus the dangers of acting rashly due to an emotional response. She did have a device that could probably be modified for this purpose? But they could afford no mistakes. A firm and decisive nod was given. ?Of course, I would be honored to meet with Master Ravensheart, if you think we can arrange it quickly. I?ve heard great things of him and would be especially appreciative of his expertise.?

A slow steadying breath was taken as she stilled her desire to act. ?I can?t stand the thought of Cadence being trapped and dealing with God knows what on her own? But I recognize the need to proceed with caution. Portals and dimensions can be a tricky business. Failure to do this right could make things worse for everyone, perhaps opening doors that could mean devastation to this world.?

That being said, her eyes did not waver in their resolve. ?So let us act fast without bringing down the whole realm around us.?

His lips pursed as he gave a quick decisive nod of his head, totally in agreement especially in the last part. "Sounds like a good idea. I've sent an associate ahead to speak with the Master at his school. I have yet to speak with them about their success there. We could leave now for the school and I could contact them on the way. Is there anything or anyone else you would like to take along?"

A small smile was given in response to his question as she gave a shake of her head. ?I don?t think that will be necessary. I?ve got everything I need.? Mary was not one to be caught unawares and always carried on her person something for every occasion. She rose to her feet as she tucked the necklace with the crimson crystal back into its place, out of sight. She had yet to reveal the other item there? but hopefully it wouldn?t come to needing that one. That was to be saved as a last resort only.

?Besides, this mission needs no further delays on my account. I?m ready to go.? She should really let Joshua know what was going on? But she could call him on the way. A mental message would be sent to Mei Mei filling her in also as they left.

"True that." he stood ready to follow her out.

" by the way, I walked here. It's a little bit of a good walk to the Academy from here. Although I could fly us there... Ever ride a dragon before?" His grin flashed with a hint of boyishness.

His smile beamed as he extended an arm while his hand graciously motioned for the door. "After you then. I'm sure morphing in here would certainly get me kicked out... If there was a building left standing afterward."

A small chuckled escaped. His shoulders shrugged as a sheepishness took his grin. He would follow her nonetheless taking with him all that he came with. Waiting until they were well outside in a safe place to morph, he glanced round to make sure of his surroundings. "This seems like good enough place, even enough room for a runway so to speak."

Reaching into his pocket, which was obviosly like some portable hole, he pulled out a fair length of thin but sturdy silk rope. Then he gave her the two ends. "It might be faster if you were already on my back. Put the rope round my neck like reins, and hang on. Ready?"

He turned his back to her, crouching slightly to make it easier for her, he then turned his head to look back and wait.

She couldn't help but feel a bit silly as she followed his directions. Several jokes came to mind about her man not appreciating her riding around on another guy... but she resisted the temptation. Though she did mumble something about how if you had told her when she woke up this morning... A bemused smile and a shake of her head as she did.

Making sure she had a firm grip on the rope between her fingers she finally answered, "Ready." At least her voice and her hands were steady.

He wasn't reading her thoughts but he did hear her mumble. It caused a somewhat helpless expression tinged with embarrassment to flitter across his countenance. He caught her easily as she jumped upon his back, lifting her gently into place and securing her legs to his sides there while he turned to run. In two strides, his form began to change. Clothes began meld to his skin, which began to darken and form into scales while he began to grow and lengthen. Four, five strides he shifted his head accepting the rope around his neck while he extended his arms now growing and lengthening too... Spreading into magnificent leathery wings.

By the sixth step his form had gone from a humanoid size to one of draconic nature about thirty feet in length and developed enough that the sixth step was his last step upon ground. By the time they were airborn and fifty feet off the ground, his form was fully developed sixty foot long dragon. His dragon form has a dark purple base with reddish scales and an opalescent silvery hue to the tips.

A few people had to run to get out of the way but none were harmed by the take off. He chuckled darkly at their fear, but sent a concerned glance to make sure Mary was indeed still on and doing alright. His wings beat strongly as they ascended to above the highest buildings over a hundred feet in the air. Then he banked slowly and ever so gently to the right, mindful that she was not in a saddle, as he made their flight path towards the Ravensheart Academy. They were coming to it quickly, only a few moments of flight left before they would begin to drop.

"hangin in there okay? How about a nice roll before landing..." It was a dragons grin he gave her.

For a few moments Mary would not notice much, she was too busy hold on for dear life. But as they ascended to the air she found herself laughing from delight. Mary?s eyes had shifted to a violent green but it wasn?t brought on by the usual suspects - blood lust or even just plain lust. This time the color was a response of pure exhilaration, the same kind she experienced when sailing. This was a form of freedom she had only experienced on the sea before. The ship cutting through water, gliding smoothly at times while at others the ride was so rough you could be thrown off before you even knew what was happening. The wind ripping through your hair and resisting your body, even as it parted graciously to allow you through.

Her countenance answered his question with a mischievous grin and a twinkle of the eye. ?Bring it on babe,? she replied with a taunting laugh.

AlexArrowny

Date: 2013-08-19 11:53 EST
The sheer intensity of her look sent a wave of like minded exhilaration through him as she accepted the challenge. It was a good bet that she would be okay with the moves, but he didn?t want to take chances of falling. Nor did he want to deny her that freedom of knowing how it felt to ride on the back of a dragon. Or to imagine closer to what it was like to be dragon. He would give her this gift for her willingness to help. It was the least he could do. He nodded to her. ?Hang on!?

Facing forward again, he whispered a soft command to the rope. The ends began to grow and slink over her thighs and round behind her, helping to secure her in place as the rope went on around him to further tighten securely, yet comfortably. Before the rope was totally done with that, he started the dip to the left, shifting the turn the other way and beating his wings faster as they began to lift higher as a rapid ascent.

He couldn?t help it. The laugh escaped at the climax of the motion, anticipating the moment of swift descent.

And then he suddenly shifted his tail, turned his wings spreading them far and wide and opened his body to a backwards move that had them arcing upward and round swiftly until they were flying upside down for a moment or so before the circle slowly came round as they descended, speed increasing while they finished the wide arc circle in the air. The ground came rushing up with the buildings merely twenty feet below them. A gush of air followed in their wake, buzzing those in the trail below them with a strong wind. Papers flew, dresses and hats were swirling, twirling in the air but the wind was not enough to knock anyone down. A few birds cursed as they floundered in the wake, rolling round in the air before righting themselves to fly again.

?You still on back there?? smiling, he glanced back while leveling off their altitude just a mere forty or fifty feet above the buildings while shifting gently to come back towards the Academy for a landing?.

Moments after Mary and Alex left, another opening occurred atop Ravensheart Academy sending a bunch of snakes down upon their landing pad. One other place seemed to open just outside the barrier of Mt. Yasuo near a cabin that the infamous Bob used to occupy. One small feather duster fell atop the roof, rolling down to land on the ground in front of the house. The wind blew from the west gently ruffling the feathers. And for a brief moment a familiar voice echoed from another dimension, faintly at first and then fading further away into silent oblivion.
