Inside Teas and Tomes...

?So you saw her, yeah? An she didn't try to-- y'know, kill the %^$# outta ya??

Those emerald orbs continued to remain fixated on Brian, as Kerri raised a brow in a most assured interest. ?I take it Jen doesn't know about this, either??

?Yes, I saw her... No, she didn't try to kill the ^&% out of me... No, Jen doesn't know.?

?Okay, I dig it. No sense worryin' Red, when there ain't nothin' to worry about an all that junk. It's kosher, I get it. Now, that bein' said, let's get back to some other business, yeah??

Brian nodded in reply, ?The 27th.?

?About that, Bri. Listen man, how long has it been, man??

?In five days, it'll have been seven months... Give or take.?

Now it was Kerri's turn to nod, ?Exactly. You've been out of the game for seven months, man. Over half a yeah, Brian. You know how much has gone down since then, man? I mean, I know you do from a distance, man. But up close an personal, do you? I mean them fires, that ^%$ down on the docks... Them kidnap---?

?Kerri, I know exactly what's been going on.?

?Like I said, Brian. I know you do--- an you know I got yer back and I'll follow you to hell an back, bro-tagonist. But I got concerns here, man. An I'm not talkin' just you, Brian. I mean, there's a whole lot going on. I just don't want you to...?

A somewhat puzzled expression took form on Brian's face, ?To what, Kerri??

Kerri's eyes shifted away from Brian, as a soft sigh escaped her. ?To walk away again, Brian. Okay, that's what.?

?I understand, Kerri.?

?Do you really, Brian?? Kerri's eyes lifted once more, meeting Brian's ?Do you really understand, man? Cause it's not just me, or a few others that are affected when ^&%$ like this happens, Brian. It's the whole unit, not to mention some of the other units in the city.?

?Kerri...?

?I mean, you leave for all that time and then come back and it's supposed to be all---?

?Kerri.?

?I know we got 'Vay-Kay' an stuff man, but even that stretches it---?

?Kerri.?

?An I'm not gonna lie man, you an I both know you aren't as--- spry as you were before. I mean, I know you're not OLD or anything like that, but we know you're basically as mortal as the next guy an gal, man... It's not like before, Brian. All of that %^$# from before, it's starting to collect on your $%#, yeah? You can keep taking all of those risks on the day to day, especially when you friggin' head off realm to do that ^$#%. So yeah man, I got?-?

?Kerri!?

?I'm all like-- huh??

?You're right.?

?Wha???

?Here, I want you to take this...? Pulling something from his coat, Brian set it upon the table before the Mithra.

Kerri's eyes widened in reaction, ?Bri-- this is... What the hell, man? Your badge? Why??

?It's because you're right, Kerri. Everything you said was right.?

Picking up the badge, Kerri just looked to Brian.

?Ker, I can't do this like I did before. You hit the nail on the head, sweet. But I know something... That you all have had this in hand long before I walked away, and more so... You handled everything like an absolute boss, while I've been away. That's why I know, I can do this--- I can resign, and know that you all will take care of business.?

Kerri sat there before Brian, her eyes blinking in complete confusion. This lasted for what felt to her like a lifetime, but in reality, it was about a half minute or so.

?You're... resigning. Like leaving, really leaving??

?I am, yes.?

?But... Really??

?Ker, you were right? We all know I can't keep doing this and be as effective as I was, before. Besides, we knew I couldn't do this forever, right? I mean the whole goal was to get the unit up and running-- established once more. Once that was done, the plan was to ease back, leaving everything in capable hands. Honestly, none of us were expecting for me to remain as long as I had, but things happened.?

Kerri nodded, ?Right.?

?Listen aside from everything with me, which really isn't as bad as some people like to make it out to be, you're right--- I have been away too long to truly give the unit what it deserves, let along the people we serve. So this is the best thing I can honestly do, not only for the unit, but for the district--- myself and my family... Our family.?

?You're decided, huh??

?I am.?

Kerri asked, ?So what will you do, then? I mean day to day an what not...? We all know what happens when you get idle, Brian Ravenlock.?

?Well another 'Mister Raven', worked the private sector easy enough. No reason, I can't do the same, no? And if not, I still work with the Chamber, not to mention the Valley. Course I'm dad to a three year old Dominick, too... Pretty much a solid full time gig, as it stands--- not to mention the twins.?

?You really thought this out, didn't you Brian??

?I did, Kerri. I really did. This is what's best for business.?

?Okay, Bri... Speakin' of business... What am I gonna do now? I'm no Boss-Lady, y'know? I mean, I'm a sweet top kick--- but I'm no Big Boss.?

?Actually, I thought of that... Look at this Kerri.? Brian's finger tapped on a folder that he'd placed on the table as they'd spoken.

Those emerald orbs looked down, a brow raising once more. ?The hell??

Opening the folder, Kerri took a quick read. ?You serious? This is your next in line? Her??

?Well, it isn't like I could suggest Serah or Epona, could I??

Kerri nodded, ?Yeah that's true---?

Brian added, ?Besides, it wouldn't just be her. I'd want you to run this show together, an I'd stay on to make sure the transition is a smooth one... An maybe as a Reserve Officer, like I was before. Just an Officer though.?

Setting the folder down, Kerri looked to Brian once more. ?You talk to her, yet??

Shaking his head, Brian replied. ?I wanted to talk to you first.?

?Brian, you really believe in this, don't you??

?I believe in all of you, Kerri... You know that, love. I always have, and I always will. From Vana'diel to the end and back again.?

?An Jenai, does she know??

?We talked of it somewhat, she's alright.?

?It ain't gonna be the same, you know? Really, Brian...?

?You both are going to make it that much better, Kerri. I know that.?

?Alright, Brian. I'm in.?

Brian smiled warmly as he leaned over the table, placing a kiss atop Kerri's head. ?Thank you, Ker.?

?Stawp it, man! Anyways, you go an find the '2nd Child' and I'll meetcha back at HQ. We'll go from there.?

Kerri statement cause Brian to chuckle as bit, ?2nd Child, I love it! Alright, I'll go find her and see if she'll play ball.?

Kerri collected everything and took her leave, as Brian keyed up that radio of his.

?27th 100 to Dispatch.?

It took a moment, then the Dispatcher responded with a rather unsure, ?27th 100???

Brian keyed up once more, ?27th 100 to Dispatch... Name it for GIU Jubal.?

Dispatch then keyed up, ?GIU 13-- GIU Jubal on the air??

Hope looked up from her desk hearing her radio go off; several manila folders lay open before her as she chewed on the Missing Hands case like a dog with an old bone. She snagged up the radio and clicked onto Dispatch.

"Dispatch. GIU 13 here. If this is back up for Mickey, tell that boy that two old ladies with canes is not a situation requiring my presence to handle. Just don't get hit by the canes."

*Uhm, GIU 13, Brass wants you, pronto.*

"Brass? What Division is getting snippy with me now? I've filed my reports."

*Ahem. GIU 13, if you could just report to the Captains Ravenlock, I'm sure they can fill you in on why 'they' need to see you. And get some coffee GIU 13. You're getting more wound up than a pocket watch.*

Hope stared at her radio for a long moment. "10-04 Dispatch. GIU 13 en route to the Captains."

Hope laid the radio down and put her head into her hands. What did she do now that got her an audience with Brian and Keri. She looked at the files a moment or two as her clock ticked by in the office of General Investigations. It couldn't be about the Missing Hands Case. She was still waiting on the finger prints to come back from Intelligence and her privileges to her one inside contact was revoked.

She stood, shut each folder and stacked them in the order of interest she had them laid out in. A quick check in a small mirror and she left her office. Mallen seemed out for lunch so she left him a sticky on his desk telling him she was meeting with the Captains.

Hope left the GIU offices and crossed over into main offices of the 27th Division of the Watch.
