April 4th. Early Morning - 12:35 am

The huntress pushed the door of the 27th Division of the watch open, and leaned inside the building. "Hey! I know it's late and all but is there someone uh... alive in here? I got something for you. A gift." Or something. She wasn't sure. Just.... headquarters insisted that she let the watch deal with the dragon. Anyone there would spot her with the door open, while she stood in the doorway? with the the form of the black visible, behind her. With her hair a wild mess, and bags under her eyes, she could almost be mistaken for a crazy. The only thing that warded off such thoughts was the sleek black she had covered herself in from head to toe.

?And I don?t want to leave her unattended, but she?s incapacitated at the moment, and I can?t exactly pick her up and drag her in here, and do you see my dilemma? ?

The hunter had become the hunted... The black beast lay incapacitated outside the watch building. Jaws bound tight by an iron muzzle. Thick bands and chains binding her fore and hind legs and even her tail.

A few sprigs of Dragon's bane tucked into the muzzle had the black terror near unconcious. Nostrils flared. Muscles beneath her dark scaled hide twitching once in a great while as the toxin kept her paralyzed. Green eyes were open, but she may as well have been blind.

Saliva dripped from her great maw, pooling on the cobble stones beneath her dark head. Tattered wing sails sprawling out on the stone walkway.
Occassionally she'd try to move. Though being unable, the eerie whale song like noise sounded.
Her haunting cry familiar to those upon the sea.

Hope Jubal

Two tall Watch men, Jessey and Mark Casker, responded to the woman's shout into the 27th's main reception hall. Both were on night desk duty and split up, Mark went to assist the woman while Jessey went to disturb the often ensconced Captain Jubal in her office these past few months. What she did in that office was the source of several betting pools and many speculations with two phrases tied to it, 'Missing Hands' and 'Brimstone'.

Soon Jessey was knocking on the locked door of the Captain's office, the frosted glass of the door murky dark though the hum and glow of possible monitors were throwing milky white splotches on the glass. The sounds of keystrokes clicking and clacking paused.

"What is it Jessey?" Hope asked as she stared at her computer screens more. Several videos were paused in mid-play, spreadsheets open, details in bullet points on several open documents, maps open, registrations, old case files and death reports surrounded the Captain.

Jessey didn't let the Captains knack these days for knowing who was on the other side of her door phase him. Some think she may have a camera hidden somewhere she used to view whoever came to her door, perhaps a paranoia from the near calls she's had working with the Hunter Mach or the other cases she's dealt with or the fact that she'd been feeling watched since the death of her contact in front of her in the Missing Hands Case. Whatever the reason, Jessey simply proceeded with his task.

"Captain Jubal. We have a woman shouting at the entry of the division doors. Something about she has a gift for us and that it's a dragon she's captured and wants to hand it over to us. Figured you'd better come look it over." Jessey said.

Hope was about to direct him to go check on his brother and to see if this was just another case of someone claiming dragons should be hunted having no rights to live in the city. The crackle hiss from Jessey's radio made her pause. *Jessey, Captain . . . Mark here. I am with the woman in the courtyard. She's a Lieutenant Elodie Spencer, from the UTRA Satelite Office. She has, well, a very drugged and very bound up black dragon down here. Captain. You'll wanna see this dragon. It has bullet holes in its face.*

Hope's eyes brows arched up and she held up a hand to keep Jessey quiet. Nothing else had to be said. Black dragon, bullet holes in the face, probably from a small 9mm gun. Her heart hammered a bit and she felt a bit ill but she stood and forced her heart to slow down.

"Jessey, prepare the dragon detainment cell for at least a one week stay. Get whoever you need down here to get it into that cell. Keep it bound and get our local herbalist on the phone. We'll need a supply of dragons bane to keep it sedate. Next, send word to the Shimmerscale Lair and have them contact me when possible that we have a possible dragon incident and I'd like their input as honored dragon consultants. Then get on the horn with Brian when you can and let him know I think we may have our Dockside Massacre culprit. We are going to run some tests against scales and blood we have at the crime scenes from what we get off of this dragon. Now move." Hope said to Jessey.

The tall man made no issue to ask questions or get in the way of the Captain. Even though she was short and stocky, he knew when she was on the move with things on her mind, you moved or she moved you and it was usually less delicately than an ogre trying to play a guitar. Jessey went to take care of her requests as Hope made a fast track for Mark and Elodie.

She reached the two in the courtyard of the 27th Division and had to pause a long moment, her eyes wide, staring at a nightmare she was trying hard to forget. Her leg and gut throbbed in remembered pain threatening to buckle her to the ground. She bit her lower lip and forced herself to look at the black dragon and to listen to the whale calls it made that haunted her dreams. This was the dragon that had attacked her that day in the harbor; the dragon that was out there killing men and ships. But she knew she had to be civil, had to put duty before want, need or desire to see the dragon punished.

Hope rounded on Mark and Elodie and fixed them both with a long stare. "Okay. Mark. CSI Kit. Pull two scales and one vial of blood from the dragon. Jessey is getting a team in to move her into custody as well as more dragons bane to keep her sedated. Lieutenant Spencer. We meet again. Why don't we start from the top and you tell me what happened and why I have you to thank for a bound black dragon in my courtyard? Hope said and pulled out her worn note pad and pen.

Mark nodded and vanished back into the building to return with a CSI kit and extracted what Hope wanted then headed off for the labs as the incarceration team Jessey called in arrived to help hoist and move Sinestra into the dragon holding cell bellow in the divisions basement.

When Mark came out to join her in the courtyard, she readily identified herself as 2nd Lt. Elodie Dubois Spencer, and gave him a brief recounting of how... she had ended up there with the black. And later when his attention was elsewhere her attention shifted back to the dragon, and she circled around so that she was right before the beast's snout. Hazel eyes stared the creature down for a moment, before she grinned, reveling in her victory silently.

And that was how Captain Hope Jubal would find her, when she finally made it out to the courtyard with them. In fact she didn't even stir from the position until the captain had spoken to her, pulling her attention from the beast to her.

"I have more dragonsbane with me. It's wonderfully effective if you brew it with water, and dump it on them, or even a small vial of the stuff if the mouth. If you need it until the herbalist can get you a supply of it, you can have the bit that I have left. ?Cept for one vial. I?m not going anywhere anymore without at least one vial.? She was dead serious in that statement. She figured sooner or later she would find another dragon that thought she was delicious. ?And I mean... I guess you can thank me for it... I just... Well headquarters told me to bring her here." The fact that it was because they didn't want to deal with a dragon... well she kept that tidbit to herself. Some people didn't have to know everything that happened or came to be.

"And well. It's kinda a long story. You're good at wanting all the details like Wren, aren't you?" She scrunched her nose just a touch. The man was painstakingly meticulous about stuff like th at. She didn't wait for a response, before she drew in a deep breath. "I came across her yesterday, late morning. She was feeding on a dock worker when I found her... and I guess she didn't appreciate being interrupted, because she came after me... Got me on the leg, before I finally managed to lose her." As she spoke, she started patting down her pockets until she had produced a lighter and a crumpled pack of smokes from her pocket. She pulled one that was severely crooked but not broken from the pack and tucked it between her lips. A couple seconds later, with the flick of the lighter and a heavy draw, the cherry burned red.

"She found me again later in the day, chewed on me some, while I whacked at her with a pipe I found... until she managed to get me pinned down. From there she tasted me and decided that I'd be delicious enough for something. Carried me back to her lair by the leg. Hurt like a bitch. There she put me in a cage, and seemed to take great pleasure in nibbling away at me... to the point I was dizzy with blood loss, with..." She paused for a moment as she used her hand to tick off numbers. ?Two nasty bites where she had just chomped down on me, and too many missing parts to count from her chewing away on me. Had to take a regen potion, and passed out after that. She didn't bother me until the morning... Where she tried to cooked me in a stew. I managed to escape with the help of a friend, went home and did some homework."

She reached out to tap one of the sprigs of dragonsbane that she tucked into Sinestra's muzzle. "All it took was a trap with dragonsbane. Left her stock still paralyzed, which gave me plenty a chance to put on all the restraints.? She paused then eyed the black, before she swallowed heavily. ?She? uh, gonna be locked up for a while, right?? Despite the brave face that she was putting on, the idea of the black being let go or escaping was absolutely terrifying.

Nostrils flared, and a growl sounded as the officer had jabbed the needle in under a scale and was drawing blood, before plucking two scales from her hide. She had tried moving again, but the dragon's bane kept her muscles stiff.

Green eyes focused on the huntress. The look the beast gave Elodie as the incarceration team hefted her and carried her away could have given one nightmares.

The men carried her inside, then down stairs, working carefully so none would lose their grip.

Soon a large, heavy iron door swung open as the men carried her inside.

Setting her down none too gently, they soon attached a chain from the wall to the shackles around her ankles. leaving very little slack in the chain.

Just enough that she could reach the dish they left for water.

They would study their captive before leaving the stone cell, the heavy door swinging shut while the key ensured the beast was safely locked inside. Effectively caged.

The black lay on the cold stone floor, staring out of her prison. It would take time for the dragons bane to run it's course. A couple sprigs still stuck from her muzzle, but at least now she could move. If only a little.

Hope listened well to what Lt. Spencer told her, jotting it all down on her note pad before flipping it closed for now. She eyed the black dragon. It was the same one she'd had a small talk with in the Inn over hunting grounds and vermin moving onto her territory and building a city. It would seem though that she had hunted the wrong species of vermin the last few days.

"Dragon's Bane. Wish I'd know that back in my early days. Would save me some nerve pain and PTSD. Then again, I do have a few souvenirs from this dragon already in my hide and on my belt. She'll be held in custody for several weeks while we sort her out Lt. Spencer." Hope sized up the Hunter a moment or two.

"Do you need medical attention or a lift to Rhy'Din General? I know that was the preferred medical center for Hunters, last time I tangled with one. Speaking of which, I am betting your Home Office wants nothing to do with a Rhy'Din dragon and dealing with messy foreign affair policies, quarantine issues, possible anti-species shipping laws, etc. I've been getting some packets from your satellite office updating me on the Foreign Affair Fluff that your organization is trying to play ball by. It's kind of cute really. Though I do need to ask, were you behind the racket at the Harbor Junkyard? We got nothing but noise complaints and several people thinking a sect of Sanguine Cultists may have holed up in the old tubs. This wouldn't happen to do with a list of places I told you and Wren about a certain pain in my backside would it?" She eyed Lt. Spencer a bit.

Usually Rhy'Din city gurgling, honking, blaring, screaming, roaring and blowing up was normal but when she kept seeing the same faces showing up near the incidents Hope connected dots quickly. They often lead to Mach, but that dot was lost somewhere she didn't know and right now she had two new dots to play with and the game was not drawing a pretty picture.

"That all aside, I am appreciative of you lending us what supply you do have of Dragon's Bane. But I must ask that you use and exercise common sense with it before dispensing it on dragons. We do have a lot of non-hostile dragons in this city. Some can get grumpy or down right mischievous but to my knowledge they do not eat people. Wyverns and fish, yes, people, not so much. So, would you like a medal, a plaque, a certificate or some kind of field ribbon for whatever you guys call that checker board you wear on dress uniforms?" Hope said this last part quite honestly.

There was anger, and fury. Smoke rising from her nostrils. It had been weeks since her capture, and the chains never gave, no matter how hard she tugged them.

Nor did the muzzle give, even as she raked talons over the contraption. She was being kept from her lair, and from hunting!

Green eyes narrowed on the bars of her prison. She'd managed barely to drink, though what ever passed as meat on the floor of her cell was left.

She preferred her meals still fresh and moving.

Chains rattled at every movement. Nostrils flaring. She'd managed the tiniest bite through the muzzle still locked upon her jaws.

Dark wings creaking as they gave a stretch. It had been weeks since last she'd been locked away. The whale like call sounding again.

Green eyes studying the bars of her prison. Dragon's bane still coursed through her veins, keeping her sedate.
