Topic: Meeting the Captain.

Alex Waterman

As requested, Alex Waterman, more commonly known by the Watchman he passed and various civilians as Sargent Waterman, approached the front doors of the 27th Division's HQ. Dressed in his uniform still (having just gotten off the beat) Alex double checked the safety on his weapon before entering.
With a quick glance about the lobby, he quickly made his way towards the front desk with a smile to the receptionist.

"Good morning. I'm here to see Captain Ravenlock, he asked me to be here today. Could you tell him Sargent Waterman is waiting, please?"

He'd stand and wait there with the smile he'd entered with, glancing about. He had very little idea as to why he was here, but when the CO of the 27th Division asks you to jump, you jump. Although in Brian Ravenlock's case, he'd probably wait long enough for you ask how high first.

It had been two days since the ?boat & bodies? incident in the Dockside District. Two days since Brian personally relinquished the primary on the case to the 19th Precinct of the Watch, much to the chagrin of his own personnel. And while it did bother a great deal of the officers working within the 27th, it didn?t bother them enough to keep them from the tasks at hand, and thus it was back to business as usual for the 27th Special Operations and Logistics Division of the Rhy?Din Watch.

It was fairly early in the morn for Brian and his crew, but it was a needed early morn indeed as Brian held a specialized roll call for the day shift units in regards to the 3 missing persons from the Alleys, and the new patrol details in the wake of said missing persons. Also a series pro-active patrols in regards to a recent rash of shop lifting reports, and assistance with various Public Works projects throughout the District. Business as usual for the ladies and gents of the day shift.

Concluding Roll Call, Brian exited and Squad Room and was met by one of his lobby staff from the midnight shift. ?Sir, you have a Sgt. Waterman here to see you.?

Nodding with a smile, Brian made his way down the hall to the Lobby. ?Let?s not keep the man waiting, Cheryl. I?ll grab Alex, and if it?s not too much trouble, can we get a couple of coffees sent back to my office??

?Coffee times two, copy that boss!?

?Righteous, and thank you.?

Aaaaaaaand a moment later, we find Brian entering said Lobby.

?Alex Water---er, Sgt. Waterman, a good morning to you good Sir. I hope the Midnight Shift was decent enough for you.?

Brian smiled, extending a hand to the Sgt. ?Welcome to the 27th, Sgt. Got time for a cup o? Joe and a bit of talk??

Spotting the Captain as he approached, Alex smiled and with a nod, took Brian's hand in his own.

"Good morning, sir. Ahh, the Midnight Blues are always an interesting bunch, Captain. But it wasn't anything I'm not used to."

Waterman replied, giving another nod and smiled as he released Brian's hand. "Certainly Sir. Something to drink would go down well right about now, with some place to sit. It's been a long night"

That much could be ascertained by a cursory glance over Alex's form. The smudged mud on his cheek and the scuffs on his uniform. Nothing to show he was hurt though, just a little scuffed and ruff around the edges.

(( And this, is an excellent reason why I should make an extra effort to check what account I'm logged into when posting XD ))

Alex?s hand was taken in a firm shake as Brian chuckled, ?They are an interesting bunch alright. It?s good to see you, Alex.?

The hands parted as Brian replied once more, ?I thought we went over that ?Sir? stuff back in the Inn, Alex? Brian?s alright, you know. Sides, I think with all we worked on together it?s appropriate enough. So let?s get into my office, and get you seated. I?ve got a nice couch with your name on it, and some coffee on the way in. Cheryl makes a strong cup, so it?ll do us some good."

?Now then?if you want to wash up that?s fine too. Course if you don?t that?s just as good to me, so no worries what so ever.?

Brian made his way towards the office and turned to Alex, ?So Sgt. Alex Waterman, I admit I had a rather selfish reason for asking you here, and it?s one that I fear may affect your very future.?

Alex dipped his head in a nod, smirking though he replied. "Yes sir. But that was off duty sir, and I'm still on the clock, if only just." The smirk shifted into a smile and Alex nodded again, "Sounds good sir, I've heard of Cheryl's coffee. I'm sure it'll have the effect I'm looking for"

Running a hand over the muddy smudge he sighed. "That...May have to wait Captain. I think I'll need to go home and get a full shower, so unless your willing to wit an hour or so...."

Alex smiling, and shurged, before following Brian to his office, at somepoint along the way, he procured a wetwipe and was busy wiping some of the mud from his face when Brian turned and spoke. Alex tilted his head to one side questioningly. He was somewhat concerned by that statment, because it could just very well be the opening to a 'we're terribly sorry to see you go...' speech. Alex wasn't entirely sure he was ready to hear that kind of speech, especially when he'd not been in the Watch for more than a few years now.

"Captain? I'm...Not sure I follow. Am I being transsfered to a new precient?" Not that he'd ever really stuck with the one he'd orirginally been assigened to. If anything, Alex roamed the steets and responded to any callout made in the general area. Every Watch house considered him 'one of theirs'.

Brian just nodded towards the open door of his office with a smile to Alex, ?It?s alright Alex, we?re not wishing you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors or anything like that. But what I have to ask you does affect your future, and ours too. It would involve a transfer of sorts, but still leave you free to roam and assist where you may, same as you?ve done before.?

Brian caught sight of Cheryl, making her way down the hall towards them.

?So let?s get settled for a bit, and I?ll fill you in without sounding too much more dramatic.?

Making his way into the office, Brian waved about the room. ?Make yourself at home, Alex.?

Brian then picked up a folder from his desk, and opened the contents as he looked towards Alex once more. ?Sgt. Alex Waterman?this is your dossier.?

Kerri Al Tuatha Ravenlock

"Yeah, Nubcakes! Let's get on in here and get it on, brudda!"

The voice of the fanged one, that self proclaimed 'Queen of Mithra Mayhem' and founder of the 'KFC' (Kerri's Fan Club) came from behind the dirtied man of a Sarge.

"Hey Waterman, Dirty Mouth? Orbitz'll help clean that up, yo." A flash of fangage followed that little bit of product placement, and then Kerri was off to the races. "Ooooooor I could just give ya a tongue bath, like a good lil kitty?"

"Wha? Cheryl!? Whad'ya mean I can't say stuff like that!? Huh? What the hell are 'SOPs'? Are you... Ack! 'Internal Affairs'!? Sexual Harassment?? ME!? Oh man what's this world coming too!? Hey don't gimme... I don't serve coffee!? Cheryl?? Hey, Cheryl!? You overstuffed skank of a wom... You take that back, Cheryl! I was young and needed the money, dammit!"

Oh the growl that came from Kerri as she eyeballed the ever lovin' hell out of Cheryl, who just threw down a one fingered salute.

Okay, quick change!

That fanged frown turned upside down in nothin flat! Emerald orbs shifted to the Sgt., "Morning Sgt. Waterman, I'm Lt. Al'Tuatha... Butcha can me Kerri, and never late for dinner. Guess this coffee is for you and m'man over there with yer life story in his hands, hmm?"

Alex Waterman

He smiled, relived. That wouldn't have been a speech he wanted to hear! And he did like the fact that he'd still have the freedom to roam as he was accustomed. His interest though, was definitely piqued.

Following Brian's lead, Alex took the advice given and found himself a comfortable chair opposite Brian's desk with a smile. "Less drama would be, ah..Interesting, Sir. If only it were possible in this city"

Alex tilted his head again, and looked at the document on the desk. Then back up at Brian with a blink.

"My...Dossier? That must have taken some getting, Captain" He did after all frequent all the Watch Houses. MEaning his files were...Well, all over the city, to one degree or another. Of course it didn't take long till he was blinking in surprise. The 'Queen of Mithra Mayhem' took the Sargent somewhat by surprise when she appeared.

"Ah..." That, was the only reply he could muster in response of a tongue bath...Watching the interaction between Cheryl and Lt. Al'Tuatha. Of course he had heard of Kerri at one point or another....Very few people didn't come across her fan club at one point or another. He smiled and nodded.

"That certainly seems to be so, yes" He replied, once more eyeing the dossier on the table with a smile. "I'm some what surprised it's all in one place for once" And of course, the implication of what that meant.

Brian simply shook his head at Kerri, and sighed a bit. ?You think once, you and Cheryl would be alright for a morning??

?Hey Muchacho, she started it! I swear, one friggin? lap dance! How the hell was I supposed to know that it was her dad and he had a pace maker!? I mean, really isn?t there a placard or somethin? we can slap on people?s heads that reads ?I got a pacemaker, NO lap dances of half naked Mithra?s please?, is that too much to ask for?!?

?Luckily, they had a ?D-Fib? in that club??

?I know right! And then?ack! I so bogarted the talk an walk, man! My bad for the derail, yo.?

That being said and thankfully done, Kerri cleared her throat once more and took a somewhat seat on Brian?s desk with her arms crossed, while those emerald orbs of hers settled upon Sgt. Waterman. ?Okay, Bri.. G?head, g?head.?

Glance to Kerri, Brian waited a sec to make sure she was sincerely done. Then his eyes shifted back to Alex, as he nodded to the Sgt once more. ?It didn?t take too much work, Alex. Especially since I started over two weeks ago. In any event, I?ll cut to the chase. Alex, we?ve been keeping a close eye on you and a few others since my return last year. Especially in regards to the ?Raven? incident and various other cases you and I have worked on together, not to mention the incident with that old detention medical center of ours, that Renna decided to remodel??

?I also know that you, like a very select few of us here in the Watch are free to roam as needed and when needed and that?s no easy thing to accomplish, Alex. Even with that status, I still run into jurisdictional issues every now and then, and I?ve been doing this a long time now. That says a lot to me, that you accomplished all of this in such a time and with no political maneuvering. So here?s the deal, Alex. You know about the 27th, and you know what we do and more so you know what we ?really? deal with as well.?

Closing the dossier, Brian set it on his desk. ?Alex, I?d like to have you join us here in the 27th Special Operations Division. I think there?s more out there for us to go together, and you?d be an incredible asset to this Division, and its members.?

Alex Waterman

Accepting his cup at sometime during the talk about lap dances, Alex smiled and listened, wrapping fingers around the cup and took a cautious sip. Just hot enough to feel it going down, but not too hot to be uncomfortable. For him at least.

He peered back at the watching emeralds for a moment, before his attention returned to the Captain. Now, that was curious, two weeks? Why would Captain Ravenlock go to so much trouble to obtain Alex's full dossier?
Nodding in understanding, he unconsciously shifted his leg, the one Renna had shot, in memory of the event. Another nod to Brian's words, all of this was true, he did know what the 27th were about in the City. Brian's compliment was met with a grin that Alex thought he hid rather well behind another sip of that coffee.

Mmm, sweet, sweet coffee. Nice and strong, with just the kick to keep him ticking over till bed and who knew when that would be? The thought rambled through his head sluggishly while he listened...It was when Brian closed the dossier, and said his final sentence that Alex Waterman nearly chocked. A splutter and then he blinked at Brian like a deer caught in the headlights, not knowing whether to run and hide or stand and face it.

"Ahh, m-me? Join the 27th?" Blink, blink. Brian had succeeded in blind siding the young Watchman. He'd never even considered a place with the 27th. Hell, he wasn't even sure he knew which Watch House to call home any more! Looking between both Brian and Kerri, he decided the best course of action was to sip his coffee again. So he did.

?Ah Bri ain?t that cute! Just look at him! Sittin? there, all blinkedy eyed with the coffee drinkin? an all that cute junk! I like him even more, now! Can I keep this one??

To emphasis her point, and ?Self Proclaimed Queen of Mithra Mayhem? snagged her own cup o? joe--- well one that was Brian?s, but now was hers by act of ?yoinking? an what not. That being done, she then proceeded to mimic the good ?ol Sarge and his state o? shock coffee sipping.

Brian just watched on with a shake of head, as a chuckle escaped the Captain.

?Kerri the absolute last thing I want to do is hand Alex here over to you--- ever.?

?That?s screwed up man! I sniffed him fir--- alright, you win. This time.? Kerri then shot the two fingered, ?Got my eyes on you? motion to Alex, and went back to her coffee sipping.

?Alex, yes I would like you to join us here in the 27th. I am expanding the unit to two teams, and I believe you will be a damned good fit here.?

?Damned good fit in my lap, baby.?

?Kerri!?

?Sorry!?

?So Alex, with Kerri?s lap aside--- you up for this? I can go into detail, after you decide.?

Alex Waterman

Looking between the two of them, he opted for the safe route and sipped his coffee again. The whole ?Got my eyes on you? motion makes him blink, as does the one about laps. He held his response to that back, and simply smirked.

Returning his full onto Brian and tilted his head, thinking a moment. Then he nodded with a grin. "Yes, Sir. I'm up to it. So more details though, would be good to know. You say your expanding the unit into two teams? What do you mean?" He asked, head tilting to one side as he sipped his coffee, a thoughtful look on his face.
