Changing of the Guard : The 27th Division of the Rhy?Din Watch and Localized Militia ? Special Operations and Logistics

Nestled just off the central square of the Rhy?Din Market Place we find--- a Watch House.

Not a house of watches, or a house that watches you. But a building that houses members of the Rhy?Din Watch, during their day to day operations.

The Watch House looked much like the others, actually. Save the rather simplistic sign that said 27th Division, on the front of the building. Which of course told the people that this Watch House belonged to the 27th Division of the Rhy?Din Watch and Localized Miltia, Making this house, well--- unlike others the most definite of senses.

A small detachment of Watch Members work out of his building, no more than say two dozen or so. A rather small assignment indeed, when given the task of patrolling the Market Place, and other outlying areas of the city.

But these two dozen or so, are not alone.

For you see, this Watch House does not simply house a division of Watch members? No this Watch House, is also home the Logistical Support Depot for the area, which means procurement and what not. Well in plain terms, it?s also a supply depot for members of the Watch. A warehouse if you would, that distributes supplies to other various Watch Houses in the area, and outlying Districts of the city.

After all, even the watch has to have some supplies in order to do their job, no?

And here we have a few select men and women who assist in that endeavor, under the direction of Quartermaster Ackerman, who mind you is a damned fine woman of a Quartermaster. Not to mention, a rather prudent one as well.

This Watch House also houses a reserve corps of Watchmen and Women. These reserves are compromised of semi retired Watch personnel, or citizens with prior Law Enforcement, or Military Background, and even an E.M.T. or two. They come in, do a bit of training. Maybe a patrol or two, or assist around the House with other issues. These reserves are solely voluntary, and they receive no payment what so ever. They do it, simply they wish to help.

So much under one roof, indeed.

And a bit of history, as well.

Because this particular Watch House, was not always a Rhy?Din Watch House. In fact it originally began as a Volunteer Militia House that was never sanctioned by the Government on any official level. Nor were they funded by the Government, either. It was simply an initiative set forth by likeminded individuals, and benefactors with sizable pockets. The result of which was the ?RMF?, the Rhy?Din Military Force. This unit was a more localized branch of Military and mainly dealt with issues inside the city walls, while assisting the Watch and other localized groups in the defense of the city, and its citizens.

This gave birth to the 27th Division of the RMF, which operated out of West End, originally.

Due to the increased severity in regards to the cases this and other localized divisions had been handling, a specialized unit had been created. It was commonly known as the ?RSF? or Rhy?Din Special Forces. This was under the direction of Brian Ravenlock, as its Captain. With Lt. Epona, and Cpl. Kerrithra Al?Tuatha under his command. It was a bold initiative that was honestly ahead of its time, and after a few years of service it had been shut down due to a rather sharp decrease in violent & extraordinary crimes in the city.

After a bit of time, and of course several incidents in the city, it was deemed that many of these localized groups be absorbed into the Watch, while still maintaining some of their independence. The 27th was one such entity, and thus had been moved to the Market Place with another division taking over West End. This left the 27th to operate within the parameters of the Watch, and yet keep their independence from any governing bodies. Funding was a combination of donation, and privatized funding, and that of the Watch itself.

It was business as usual? Patrol, intervene, arrest and release.

That was then.

Presently, we find the 27th in a much more focused light as a revision is taking place within that old Watch House.

Gone are the ?business as usual? days and what not. In their stead are a much more publicly displayed Watch Division. More approachable, more effective and much more visible.

Not to mention much more specialized.

In the wake of some of the most severe attacks the city and area had seen in some time, it was suggested that the rank and file, of the Watch just was not enough, and that there had to be another line of defense against such threats that were deemed severe or worse.

While the heroes of the city were indeed plentiful, it was hardly fair to call upon them time and again, especially with much of the collateral damage that ensued in the process of securing such threats.

So an initiative was issued and handed to a Reserve Captain by the name of Brian Ravenlock, who had retired from service a few years back when he had been assigned as Minister of Citizen Resources under former Governor Driscol.

The initiative was to form a specialized unit once more, to counter threats before they had a chance to break out. To contain issues that would normally cost lives, and property. To go in, and quickly defuse scenarios as they occurred and then just as quickly leave the scene. Monies were issued, and classifications established. It would be a militarized initiative, on a small scale.

One of which specialized in apprehension, and not simple elimination. After all, any idiot can rush in and shoot the place up.

Thus the Special Operation and Logistics division of the 27th Division of the Rhy?Din Watch and Localized Militia was created.

Or as some decided to call it, The 27th.

And now that they had a catchy name, Brian Ravenlock needed a team.

And team he began to find in the form of other likeminded individuals such as, Serah Farron, Cyrus Merrick, Kerrithra Al?Tuatha, and Andu.

Others came to mind as well, and offers would be extended.

After all, this was a new beginning indeed.
