A letter arrives at Avengers H.Q. addressed to Zulu. It reads thusly...

To Whom It May Concern: (scratched out)

To Zulu: (scratched out)

Dear Kyle,

It is with the deepest regret that I would like to inform you that I am resigning from active duty with the Avengers. I would like to request being put on reserve duty status for the time being.

I am recently married and have joined the Rhy'Din Fire Brigade full-time, which leaves me very little time for the Avengers. There are plenty of heroes who can take my place, and I think my talents would be put to better use fighting fires.

Thank you for the opportunity, and if my help is ever needed, all you need do is call.

Yours truly,
Jonathan Lowell Spencer Storm AKA The Human Torch (scratched out)
Johnny Storm

P.S. Liv helped me write this letter, so I hope it sounds okay. And could you change my Code Name to Torch? Because The Human Torch is too long. Hope there's no hard feelings. Come by the Temple District Fire Station sometime, and I'll buy you a beer! Later, dude!

"Hey, boss."

He looked up from his desk, where he'd been looking over quarterly reports. There were few things he found more tedious, but it was part of the job. Still, he was grateful for the distraction, and when his eyes found the door to his office he saw Michael Petrov there. "C'mon in, Big Mike. What can I do for you?"

The big man walked in and held out a folded piece of paper, speaking in his slow manner. "Went by the Avengers HQ, found this addressed to you."

He reached out and took the letter, arching an eyebrow as he unfolded it and read it over. "Well, that's a shame. He's a good man, if a little reckless at times."

The big man nodded and turned to go. Kyle let him get as far as the door. "Hold up a sec, Mike. Gonna need you to deliver something for me, if you're not too busy."

The big man turned back and shrugged with a grin. "Not at the moment, sir."

He nodded back and smirked faintly. "Well, you will be soon. But we'll talk about that another time."

Pulling out a sheet of stationary and a pen, he started writing.

Johnny,

Let me begin by saying congratulations and we're sorry to be losing you, but it's good to hear things are going so well for you. Per your request, your name will be moved to the reserve list.

Just as your offer to assist us stands, as a fellow Avenger, you may likewise request anything you need from us at anytime. Once an Avenger, always an Avenger.

May you have nothing but the best of luck in all your future endeavors, which I have no doubt will be as successful as they were during your tenure with us.

Sincerely,

Kyle Pontius
