::I approached the Gates of the Brotherhood. There, within the ground and the stone, a feeling of weight, like years had physically pressed themselves down into the cornices and made an indelible, distinct impression. I couldn't help but wonder if this was a good idea. Was I insane to want to try and enlist the help of a person that I knew nothing about? Well, I did know one thing, actually. He and I shared a common enemy. A deadly enemy. Lord Travanix. Hesitant, I approached the Gates. The guards were large with corded muscle, smelly with caked on sweat and dirt, well-armed, and with matching sets of beady, gimlet eyes that glared at anything that moved. That included me, now. I set my face into a neutral expression and firmed my voice:: "Is there a Vargus Starblazer here? ::I looked past the guards and up to the gates guarding the Brotherhood. They were strong, they were silent, and forbidding. What was I getting myself into?::

Thara heard the shout that came from the gate, she always kept her window open to allow the outside inside. Rising from her desk she peered out over the garden. "Someone is in need, I will return to enjoy your beauty shortly." She spoke to the plants and a gathering ofanimals that had taken a fancy to her due to the simple fact she started up caring for them when they got hurt.
Thara was always a gentle soul and the animals seemed to recognize that and come to her when she visited the garden.
Thara turned and stepped towards her door then down the great spiral staircase to the main foyer. The simple sapphire gown rustles softly along the floor as she walked across the foyer floor to the main doors of the Fortress.
Stepping outside she easily and swiftly made her way to the gates, the smell from the guards told her they were definitely untidy and that was not a good example the Brotherhood wish to potray. She gave the stranger through the gate a quick smile as she held up her finger, to tell him to wait a moment. She turned to the two guards and reached up and pinched her nose.
"Ye both smell like ye slept in horses dung, and I know ye nae have the audacity to report to Lord Pyriathin or Lord Vargus looking and smelling like that." She stepped back to catch her breath then came a bit closer to finish her words.
"Ye both will, for the next two weeks clean the stables, we nae wish visitors to think we look and smell like ye do. I personally will inform Lord Vargus and Lord Pyriathin of the bad example ye hath made of the honorable position of Fortress Guards. Doth One make herself clear to thee?"
The big burly guards towered over the petite female adorned in a sapphire gown, yet they seem to act like scolded schoolboys before her. "Aye M'Lady Hue, we both understand quite clearly and this will never happen again."
Thara gave a nod and pointed to the barn. "Stop by the Guard house and inform the Captain of the Guards the gate needs replacements, by my orders. I will nae have unkempt guards giving the Brotherhood a bad name...sheesh.."
She watched as they walked away then once they were out of sight she turned to the stranger. "Ye art seeking Lord Vargus Starblazer, mayest One b so bold as to request the reason behind they request?" Thara studied him as she knew if he even tried to bend the truth she would know it. She glanced to the guard shack to see if the replacements were being sent, she was cautious as to allow just anyone through the gates, especially standing there alone.

::Soft murmurs of sound trickled forth from somewhere inside the fortress as I looked up at the gates. Somehow, the sound was feminine and lilting and sweet; the beautiful tones of an unknown woman saying something that I couldn't quite make out and it seemed to be directed at the guards. As quickly as I heard the dulcet tones, they stopped. A short, sharp stab of disappointment later, a figure stepped through the gates. She wore a waterfall of sapphire that gleamed slickly in the light, falling down from her small shoulders, skimming across her supple skin, and pooling at her feet. Her dark tresses were held up and off of her slender neck and the tiara held therein sparkled with diamond fire. Her skin was alabaster, her eyes a dark glimmer, and her lips were as red and lush as the petals on a fully bloomed rose. I flushed as I looked upon this vision. And then this woman, this Angel, spoke:: "Ye art seeking Lord Vargus Starblazer, mayest One be so bold as to request the reason behind they request?" ::It took more than a few seconds to find my voice:: "M'lady! I am Daisuke, a humble alchemist from another land. I have traveled long and far in search of help for the innocent and peaceful folk from my home. I do seek Lord Vargus. He and I share a common enemy that is also a deadly one. I seek Lord Vargus' aid in dispatching this most loathsome enemy. I am afraid, however, that I do not wish to speak more than these words on the matter whilst I stand where prying ears might hear them. I hope that you will forgive me for it, m'lady, for in all other ways, I am your most humble and adoring servant." ::I bowed my head and my eyes, not so that I might cease to look upon the vision before me, but so that I might garner some time for my eyes to adjust to such a stunning and sudden burst of unexpected beauty.::

It took more than a few seconds to find my voice:: "M'lady! I am Daisuke, a humble alchemist from another land. A tilting of Thara's head caused a cascading of her raven locks to flow down over her shoulders. Those sapphire orbs studied the young man intently, seemingly to see the truth within his words.

"Ye mayest follow me, M'Lord Daisuke, I will see to thy comforts and have Lord Vargus and Lord Pyriathin know ye art here to see them. They will be most interested in thy information, knowing the truth behind ye words."

Thara smiled to the young man and turned to lead him through the gates. She gave a approval nod to the new guards that were posted by the front gates of the Brotherhood Fortress.

"Be welcome to the Brotherhood Fortress, ye mayest be comforted ye art safe within this compound. One's name is Thara and for now One is thy hostess. I will see to some refreshments for thee and if mayhaps thy happen to stay longer than a few hours, a room will be prepared for thee, where ye can freshen up and thus join us for dinner this eve."

Leading him through the Fortress massive doors, she turned off to the left of the foyer to another door which her small hand reached and turned, opening the way into the large gathering chamber. A smile touched Thara's lips as she glanced to all the comforts of home within the room. An overstuffed chair by the window, a couple large couches and few other small chairs that sat in various spots around the room, yet all faced the giant hearth which was not in use at this time.

Turning to young Lord Daisuke with a smile and with a motion to the places to sit. "Make thyself comfortable and I will send Armand with some refreshments while I see to informing Lord Lord Vargus and Lord Pyriathin of thy presence and thy need to converse with them in haste."

A swirl of sapphire silk she turned and walked from the room, leaving young Lord Daisuke to rest and relax before Vargus and Pyriathin showed up to speak with him.

Within moments of her departure a stoutly male entered pushing a cart, the waifing smell of hot roast beef, vegetables and even warm mead to wet his thirst was rolled before him.

"I am Armand, and M'Lady Hue spoke of thy need of refreshments, ye must of traveled far and must be quite hungry and parched. I do hope this is enough, but if not just say the word and more will be brought to satisfy thy needs."

Armand gave a portly bow and turned walking back through the door towards whence he came, leaving Lord Daisuke in private to enjoy his small feast, compliments of his hostess.
