Thara continued down the ancient hall and as she passed by the doors that still held the names of many that once graced these hallowed halls, a tear and smile made their presence upon her face.

Finally she came to the door that held her name etched into the silver plaque upon it. Pausing a moment she looked back up the corridor to where she had left Vargus and felt an all consumming need to return to his side. Thara restrained herself, for they both needed time, yet her heart was much warmer and the heartfire that burned inside had brightened immensely since coming back here and finding him standing and waiting for those he and Pyriathin had summoned.

Shaking off the nostalgia she lifted the silver latch and pushed the door open and it felt like walking back in time. Very little had changed, except for the layer of dust, not even magic could keep at bay. Leaving the door open she moved to the window and threw open the draperies and pressed open the window so fresh air could fill the room. Even with the tint of a chill in the breeze, it felt good and it let life return to that which had been sleeping inside.

Removing her white cloak, Thara whispered some cantrips that she knew, it helped to speed a few things up till she could get her routine back in motion. The dust vanished and once more the ebonwood of her furniture shone as if it was new.

Stepping to her small writing table, which was her desk she took a seat and let things pass through her mind. "A new beginning for us all..." Her soft voice whispered to the skies, she let her black wings lay across her shoulders, those would have to be explained, but she had gotten use to them and was just at home in the sky as on the ground.

Opening up her small carry bag she began to pull out a few items that would be added to the other things in the room. A small potrait of Vargus, she had drawn it hersel, for it was hard to sleep and not see him in her dreams, so in his absence she had drawn some pictures of him and this one she had brought from the Castle to adorn her desk.

She pulled some other items and put them in chosen spots around the room, gifts from her People back in the Royal Kingdom of Hue and a crystal bowl she had placed some candy tidbits inside for those whom sought her council.

She took pride in being a High Priestess, more so than being a Queen, she could give more of herself in that manner and here at the Fortress and the in the New Beginning, she would do the same along with any other duties placed upon her.

First order of business as Pyriathin and Vargus had indicated, was recruiting. Thara had not always been good at doing this, but she gave effort at everything she worked on. Recruiting meant an Recruit Application, she knew without a bit of forward knowledge they could allow darkness to enter and begin corrupting that which they had returned to life.

She reached in her desk and pulled out some parchments and began to form an outline for some form of application. She would check with Py and Vargus for more ideas on this, but a rough draft to start would be heading in the right direction.

She smiled as she worked remembering filling out her application for joining the Brotherhood, it was a bitter sweet time for her, she had been younger and much more naive thsn she was now. It was a learning experience bsck then and now she would be the teacher to those that would come to these hallowed halls.

Those were the days she let flow upon her mind as she worked, a cool breeze drifted through her window bringing the scent of the gardens below. Laying down her quill she stood up and moved to the window and looked down upo the gardens, she remembered Jonathan whom took pride in caring for those gardens and wondered where he was now along with others whose faces were absent from these halls. Maybe new faces would bring back the life that once flourished in these halls and the mistakes of the past would be avoided this time and Light would prevail.

A few hours had passed as she worked at her desk, the cool breeze and the sounds of the birds and nature drifted up to her ears causing her to lift her head and smile.
"So much to do, but I really wish to see the gardens and they seem to know as they are calling me."
Rising from her chair her wings draped once more over her shoulders she walked out into the hallway, stopping only to close her door before making her way back to the stairs.
Pausing for a brief moment to peer into Vargus's office only to smile as she watched him at work. Blowing him a silent kiss she moved on past, leaving the scent of white roses in her wake to cheer him up and let him know she was concerned for his well being as always.
Stylish grace brought her down the circular staircase and a small turn took her towards the Great Room where she paused for a moment as memories floated in abundance in this room.
The water battles and food fights they had with each other, and the tiny sprite Crystal constantly causing mischief one way or another. The many conversations she and Vlarnin had shared before he married Angelica, she had been a foolish girl back then, for she had just lost Darith whom had remained in Faerun when she had met Vlarnin and developed a crush on him, but all that tumbled when he married Angelica.
Thara shook her head at those memories, she should of known better than to let her heart guide her so soon after Darith, for it only brought disaster. She was happy now, only One held her Heartfire and she held his, but they had time for there was much to do before any of them could relax. She would be patient, yet she had almost lost her composure in seeing him once again, but she remained dignified for there was a time and place for everythng.
Thara walked the rest of the way out into the gardens, she smiled at the hedges that had grown high, they were Jonathan's pride and joy, for he had made them into a small maze that was a sense of horror at one time, but that had been defeated and now they stood high and glory of Jonathans hard work and love of gardening.
She moved to one of the benches that were scattered through the garden and settled upon it, she let her wings drape down over her shoulders as she let the aromatics that blossomed through out the garden fill her senses and the songs of the birds along with the gentle breeze among the trees tingle her upon her ears.
Glancing up she stared at the stars, another memory floated by, this was of Rick and the many discussions they had held out here on on the nearby cliffs.
Rick was always there for her, especially when she needed him the most, he had long sense gone on to bigger and better thing, maybe he had found his way home, she never knew. Rick had furbished her castle with many defenses, for there was always someone trying to assassinate or kidnap her. It took time for her people to get use to a woman ruler, but after many hours of tedious work and much patience and generousity her people had come to love and trust her. Risk had been a key part to that trust, his own Providence, that she had gifted him upon naming him Royal Duke of Hue had been the first to learn and the rest followed suit. She missed him and wondered if he heard the call, but doubted that he had, but one could always hope.
The picnics and parties everyone shared among themselves out here were always loads of fun. Especially summer when everyone was armed with super soakers, and the Fortress pool became a gathering spot for those whom enjoyed getting a good tan or a little water fun.
Thara knew she was being nostalgic, but the memories were bittersweet at times but ones she would never let go, for they could entice a smile to her lips, For memories laid paths for the future so some mistakes made then would not be repeated.

Days had come and gone and Thara decided to talk another walk in the gardens, its peacefulness always made her heart feel content. She let her mind wander as she drifted along the path to the gazebo that sat in the center.

She smiled thinking of the few nights that had passed and her encounter with her truest and friend and patron, Pyriathin. It was wonderful to see him out and that night was the first chance she had taken to go out on the town.

It felt like the old days when the sharing of each others company was treasured and now to be a start of new treasures. He knew the changes in her, she had come a long way from the frightened priestess he had first met to the woman that sat across him that night.

They spoke of many things, but he spoke of two names that instantly put dread in her heart, Travanix and Romax Pol. Vargus had not said anything to her, and she knew that he remembered the horrors those two had put her through. The addiction to that one drug that nearly killed her, and the torture of her mind and soul that nearly cost her own sanity and life.

Thara knew her Beloved had to be worried for her, now that she had returned to the Fortress of Light. He knew there would be no keeping her away from the home she knew it to be or his side. Time had passed since they both revealed the love in their hearts, and shared the Heartfire between them.

They had parted ways and yet her love for him stayed strong and she never lost faith he would return one day. There was much she wanted to say to him, to hold him close and bring comfort to his heart, but time for this could wait, they had returned to their home and friends.

Darkness was afoot and it needed to be quelled before they all could take a breather and just enjoy a day of each others company. Her eyes lifted to the skies and watched as the birds flew among the clouds Thara so wished to spread her wings, to enjoy the freedom her avian friends were enjoying. She knew better, so much seemed to settle on her shoulders now and the time for fun and games were long past.

No Longer was she a child, not the naive frightened girl that first came to these hallowed halls. It was a Woman of conviction, a Priestess of the Light, her trials and tests passed with flying colors. She would stand with Vargus, Py and the others, showing a strong front against the darkness they all could feel settling around them.

Thara knew the Soldiers of Light were out there, she would need to find them and bring them to stand with the Brotherhood of Light in the fight against those that bring corruption, fear and agony to the innocent people that stood unaware of what is happening to them.

Resolve was needed as Thara rose from the bench and made her way back along the garden path in search of Vargus. She knew he would need to know that she knew of his worry and for him to calm his heart. Thara knew she would stay safe for him, her own powers had grown since they had last seen each other and these powers were not visibly known till focused on her target. She had grown alot and she would not give Travanix or Romax any opportunity to get an upper hand with her.

All would soon know that she was not woman to be trifaled with, she would stand her ground and use all she had to protect those she cared for, and they would know the true power behind the Lady of Light.
