He stood watching from one of the tallest towers of the Fortress as the sun set over the horizon. The light breeze of the night curled through his robe, drifting it around him. He folded his arms over his chest as he turned his gaze from the beautiful hues of the evening, to the slow turn on lights of the city. He closed his eyes, taking within him the life of the planet. For so long he had not done it, but it was so familiar to him. The deep purple flame swirled above his head, never fully vanishing from his eyes.
He opened them again, the pure white orbs looking out over the city. Something was coming, something horrible, something dark. He couldn't shake it, though he admited to himself, he was never able to foresee very well. Not like his master, not like his love.
He continued to watch long into the night, keeping vigilance over the city from his distance.
