It had been a day since she?d arrived at this strange place just outside of Rhy?din. The village was a strange place; she came to find quickly. They?d welcomed her with open arms for the sheer fact that she was a woman, and the fact that she was pregnant? She was one high status stranger to them. They put her up in a nice little home with two male guards on the outside. Keirra couldn?t even recall a night terror.

The next morning there was a rather large man waking her up. He?d brought her a big breakfast, and even braided her hair while she ate. They?d set her up with clothes, and everything was free. Keirra had absolutely fallen in love with the place.

Sitting out by the lake, wearing the red winter cloak they?d given her, Keirra looked out at the water. Her legs peeked out from behind the yellow gown, which was made of fabric softer than she?d ever touched before, and now her toes were wiggling against the frosty grass. A slightly high pitched voice came out from behind her, ?So you?re the new lady??

When Keirra turned, she saw a young looking child, he was staring her down with honey brown eyes, circling like he was some sort of predator. ?I prefer to be called Tara, but yeah, that?s me. Tara Highman, nice to meet you.?

The boy didn?t seem to get the word play hidden within that false name she?d given. Instead, he shifted his body in front of her and folded his arms. ?You seem kind of short to be having a baby... What?re you? Fourteen??

?You?re shorter than me you cheeto-fingered little cockbite,? she growled at him, and to be fair, she was only a few inches taller than him. ?You realize I?m not above punching a child, right?? said the soon-to-be Mom, to the child. The child just stared at her as if he?d never been spoken to that way in his life, and Keirra cleared her throat as if she were going to amend the situation. And then, ?So before you run off at the mouth to someone you don?t even know, keep that in your empty, kool-aid fueled head of yours, yeah??

Standing there, tan expression gaping as he stared at her, his voice got stuck in his throat. Hands went to his head as he ran them through fluffy mocha locks, and shook away the astonishment. ?You? are the coolest person I?ve ever met??

That drew a smile upon broken lips, ?Yeah, well?? thoughtfully as she stared out at the lake. ?I?m pretty hit or miss with most people, kid.? Though this one appeared to be a direct hit, because he was staring at her like she was some sort of foul mouthed goddess. Crystal blue eyes shifted over to him, ?What?s your story, kid?? she asked thoughtfully, but it was probably because she wanted her mind far, far away from her husband. ?You from the village??

?Not really,? he said with a half-hearted shrug. ?I mean, I live here, but, I?m not from here. My parents left me here when I was younger,? there was something sad in his voice as he looked down at his feet and tried to wash away whatever he was feeling.

That was something all too well for Keirra, and she shook her head. She knew what it was like to be left behind by the people that were supposed to care for you. ?Stop it, kid.? Keirra said, her tongue pushing past the bitter taste inside of her mouth. Her cheeks puffed out and she shifted that gaze up to the morning sky?the sun was pushing through the multitude of trees, brightening up her pale, hooded complexion.

The boy looked at her as if she?d just bopped him with a newspaper. It had certainly snapped him out of whatever mindset he was in, because he crinkled that nose and he furrowed his brow. ?Stop what??

?I know that mopey assed look a mile away,? she said, rolling her eyes and tugging lightly on his jacket to plop him down on his butt. ?You?re getting all emotional in your head, blaming yourself and shit??

?What do you know?!? he asked, glaring at her.

?I?m not from where I?m from either,? she told him. ?I used to do the same damn thing. Wonder what I could have done to make them want me?how I could have been a better person,? she said, and turned her eyes back to him. ?The fact of the matter is, that they?re the ones missing out. They?re the ones who were wrong, kid. Not you. Your job is to be a kid, their job was to take care of you. They failed, not you.? The boy looked emotional as all hell now, he opened his mouth to speak, and the rogue cut him off. ?Stop it,? she repeated. ?One day, somebody is going to want you more than you?ll ever know? And those jackasses are going to have missed out on everything that you are??

Keirra was well aware that she was either spitting out bull**** or being the world?s most pregnant hypocrite. Still, she wanted to make the kid feel better. Still, that broken look wasn?t wiping from his face. She fished a stone off of the ground and placed it within the leather casing of a stolen slingshot. Then she was firing it off into the water, watching it skip a few currents and then sink. That made him light up, ?I have a slingshot just like that!? he said, reaching into his pocket. He frowned deeply, and then noted the grin on her face. ?How did you do that!??

?Had.? Keirra muttered shortly. ?You had one just like this,? then she was grinning and handing it back. ?I?m good at taking things without people knowing it,? she said with a smirk, and pushed back on her palms to make herself a tad more comfortable. She had no idea how long she had left with magic blood involved. It felt like it was too soon, but she felt the baby Russian in there kicking around like she was ready to meet the world with two middle fingers.

?Is that how you got pregnant?? he asked, staring up at her.

That raven blessed head turned slowly as her eyes dragged to him, wide as ever. ?Did you?just make a dirty joke?? Then a hand clapped over her face. ??Did that seriously just happen?? The boy shied away from it, and opted to lower his eyes, grinning with crooked teeth. ?Wow, you might be the coolest kid I?ve ever met,? turning the tables on him. ?You know, until she?s born. Her first words are probably gonna be something like.. I don?t know? Eat a dick??

That drew laughter out of the kid, and it was absolutely contagious. ?Stop calling me kid,? he finally said with a slight chuckle. ?My name is Junius.?

?Oh, so you like boys?? The little rogue said thoughtfully, again, staring up at the sky. She finally turned those eyes back to his confused, and slightly offended expression. ?I?m saying you have a gay name. Your name is super gay.? Every syllable getting a bit louder as she spoke, trying to get him to pick up exactly what she was so bluntly putting down.

"You're going to be a terrible mom, Tara." Junius said, peering up at her, still smiling all the while.

"No, I'm going to be an honest Mom," she said with a grin, and looked over at him. It was good to see him smiling. "And my name is Keirra, but that's a secret."
