The afternoon air was salty and pleasant by the docks, and the rogue had arrived two hours early. Her hair was in curls, her face had been painted with make-up?though with that, the hellion had help. Gwen had been more than delighted to use the porcelain canvas that was Keirra?s face. She had a bottle of sparkling cider tucked away in a picnic basket she held in front of her pregnant belly. It was settled down on the ground, and she gripped the railing, peering over the horizon and waiting. The wind blew at the little black and white dress and she held it down and stood there, glancing all around the sea before taking in a breath. ?Relax, KoKo, you?re early?? she coaxed herself. Sleep the night before proved to be impossible, but it didn?t show on her painted up little face.

Gerry was coming home today, that was all that mattered. She made it the full nine days without flipping out. Quinn and Levi proved to be a good distraction, though. Without them, she wouldn?t have made it. Life was absolutely perfect, she had life in her belly kicking and moving around, almost ready to greet the world with closed up fists and a bad attitude. Her husband was on his way back, and she had two of the best friends anyone could ever ask for.

For the first time in a long time, she didn?t feel alone. Anger had become fourth in her nature, instead of first. Starscream?s tail thumped against the wood and she continued to pace along the pier. Eyes shifted to the puppy, and then back to the sea. Hands dug out her phone to check the time, and she bounced on her toes. ?Almost time, Starscream!? she exclaimed, and the pup barked up a storm, breaking out into a happy little sprint.

It was about forty minutes passed the fifth hour of waiting, and Keirra had taken to sitting on the docks. Her stomach growled, and her back ached. The wind blew her hair, curls getting looser and looser, and she let out a soft sigh. Starscream nudged at her with that wet nose, and Keirra glared over. ?He?ll be here. He?s only a few hours late,? she said, looking back out to the sea. ?He said he?d be here, so he will be...Chill your six tits.? trying to convince herself more than anything. The sun was already starting to go down.

A soft yawn left her, mouth gaping widely before she shook off the sleepiness. There was no way Gerry would stay. If he liked it, he would have come back and got her?right? Starscream followed her gaze out to the sea, and let out the most stunted little whine before resting her head between her two front paws and flattening her ears. Fingers trailed between those ears and scratched away with one hand, as the other checked the time.

There was a stinging pain in her chest, it felt as if someone sucked the life right out of her. She fought to breathe as anxiety burrowed its way into her, leaving her a broken, breathless mess. ?He wouldn?t just stay?? she whispered. ?He wouldn?t do that to me,? she continued to try and talk her way through it. Starscream poked at the basket of goodies with her nose, and Keirra swatted her away. ?That?s not for you,? she said, and watched the dog whine. ?Okay you haven?t eaten all day. You can have my sandwich, but you can?t have Gerry?s.? Keirra said sternly, and reached in, opening up her sandwich wrapper and handing it over. The dog snapped up the delicious meal without hesitation, and Keirra shook her head. A text was sent out to Levi to cancel the plans for the night, and she lowered her head to rest on the railing of the pier.

More time passed, more soul crushing anxiety washed over her. Just as hope left her, so did consciousness. The two-day lack of sleep got to her, and she fell asleep against the railing, eventually, her roguish body fell against the floor of the docks and she slept. Starscream inched closer to her, ears lifted, watching her throughout the night.

When her eyes flickered to life, Keirra looked around as the dawn kissed her face. Starscream was practically laying on her stomach, as if to protect the baby from the cold morning air. The rogue looked around in confusion for a moment as she sighed out a visible breath which exploded into the dim morning light. Fingertips brushed her hair from her face as the other hand moved out towards the heat that was resting on her stomach. It wasn?t Gerry?s arm, she looked around with a groggy gaze and took in a breath. ?Damn it?? she mumbled. Her back ached from the hard dock floor, and that?s when she knew the blood was wearing off.

Reality hit her like a ton of bricks, it was the morning. Gerry had never showed. An inward gasp of anxiety was sucked in as she pushed the dog off. ?Good girl,? she said breathlessly. She knew what the dog was doing, and she deserved praise?but Keirra couldn?t muster up any excitement for the poor pup.

The pessimistic rogue tried to muster up some form of hope. ?He got here already, he just didn?t see me because I was laying down?? Keirra sat up and looked around frantically. ?Oh, who am I kidding? I?m bigger than the fattest kid at a birthday party?? she mumbled, trying to do anything to distract her from the certainty of a bad situation?but reality was a cold bitch.

Making it back to camp, she made a note that it was still bare of campers, and she began to look around, frantic as ever. She gasped and held her stomach, sinking to her knees. A sobbing sigh left her, and she ripped up the frost dampened grass. The noises coming from her could only be described as pathetic as the dog nudged at her face and whimpered softly. ?It?s okay, Star? I just need.. I need?? The girl choked out once more and lifted herself up, stumbling back towards their apartment.

Starscream whined softly within the back of her camper, the poor pup hated change. Keirra?s eyes shifted back to her, and she smiled softly, weak as ever. ?Hey, shhh... Everything?s gonna be alright, Starscream.? The rogue whispered as she started up the vehicle and pulled off.

Levi was right, she was a coward. She was running scared, but it felt like the only option at this point. Even the camper reminded her of Gerry?it was where they?d spent their first night together. She could remember that night like it was yesterday. They?d just swam in the lake; and Keirra was absolutely exhausted. She hadn?t been sleeping because her dreams were filled with terrors of her attacker. She couldn?t be alone, and so she invited him inside that little camper with promises of seeing a collection of wallets. How had she convinced him to stay? She was so mean to the poor man?

The next morning had been just as cruel. As Keirra thought of it, she laughed through the tears that made the road hazy. She remembered how she?d tried to make him sneak out of the camper. Cornered by the other members of the circuit. She couldn?t help but let out another laugh when she remembered him coming out in one of her shirts, trying to convince everyone that he was a repair man. What a dork.

God, I?d give anything to chase him around with a sword again right now?

Minutes morphed into an hour, and the sun was hiding away from the sky. In the darkness, it wasn?t clear what made her start sliding, but soon, the camper was hissing at the tires, and Keirra let out a hoarse scream. Her head banged around from side to side as she rolled off of the road, neck aching by the time it landed, driver?s-side-up. Luckily, Levi?s constant nagging of a seatbelt had paid off. Keirra?s ears rang as she unfastened the seatbelt and let herself drop down. Her phone was fished out with a shaking hand and pressed up against her ear. ?Son of a dick?? she mumbled to herself.
